Guest
Said that he won't fight for the UFC again? You guys think?
JLP
Good. This is the second time Palhares has done it in the UFC. UFC sends a message that trying to injure your opponent by holding a submission long after a tap and the referee intervening won't be tolerated. Palhares seems to be a first class piece of shit. 1
JCRaven
yah i heard only his brother will roll with him at his gym, Lombard seems to have the same mentality. You don't have to like your opponent but you should respect them at least. He showed he's an idiot last night for the 2nd time if it was a choke he would of got the boot after the first one

Yeah, quite a lot of stuff I have been reading have been pretty split which is surprising. Some say "in the heat of the moment, blah blah". Was expecting a lot to say good riddance like you just did. Guest
fair enough, he shouldn't do that.. bit of a cbomb.. but it was very impressive, he had a lot of potential which makes him even more of an idiot for doing what he did. Manfred
Plus he was busted for TRT after his last fight. Good riddance. EDIT: After watching it again, I noticed he actually cranks on it MORE after the referee gets there. Douchebaggery level

Btw now I know why he is called "toquinho" or "little tree stump" in english - it's not becouse of his frame but becouse of his IQ.
Chosen1
the ref had stopped the fight and that must be absolute. What Palhares did was ridiculous and hes causing unnessesary damage to his opponent. Good decision to kick him out since this was'nt the first time. EDIT: After watching it again, I noticed he actually cranks on it MORE after the referee gets there. Douchebaggery level 10 That is what makes it the ultimate in douchebaggery. Holding on too long is bad enough, but he actually reengaged the hold and cranked it more after the ref jumped in. POS should be suspended. 2
Mentor
It is kind of sad that he is an ass, talent wise i think he had the skills to compete at a good level.
Erik
Palhares didn't even hold it too long, UFC just doesn't want the bad press from people getting injured. He didn't even notice the ref you fucking twits, because the ref JUMPED ON THE OTHER GUY. 1
rac2
I want to keep seeing Palhares fight, he's an interesting matchup for a ton of fighters out there. I just hope this is the kind of serious wakeup call he needs.

He didn't even notice the ref you fucking twits, because the ref JUMPED ON THE OTHER GUY. So your argument is that the multiple frantic taps and the ref landing right on the point of interaction of the two fighters wasn't enough for Palhares to realize that he needed to stop cranking the hold? The referee clearly jumps on both Palhares and Pierce at the point of the leglock to try and disengage them as soon as possible. Palhares held the lock about 3-4 seconds after Pierce's first tap and about 2-3 seconds after the ref dives on top of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qsblWuiwMGY#t=32 Even if it was done with no ill intent, Palhares has shown that he isn't mentally equipped to be participating in a combat sport because he doesnt have the awareness or intelligence necessary to follow a referee's instruction.

Rambo
I disagree with all of this. It might be considered an organized sport due to rules, ref, and athletic commissions, but at the end of the day it's still a fight, and people try to hurt each other when they're fighting, especially when emotions are involved. He held on to it for maybe 2 seconds after the ref jumped on, and you don't let go of a sub til the ref jumps in - lesson he learned from Marquart vs Palhares. Also, you guys ever watch Royce Gracie fight? How do you feel about him? lol the ref would literally have to pry him off opponents. Palhares doesn't have good reflexes and about the only thing that comes natural to him are subs. Was it excessive? Yes. Was it despicable? No. You guys don't complain when a fighter lands a few unnecessary shots to an unconscious opponent cuz the ref didn't react quick enough, or if a guy sneaks in a shot or two when the ref dives on him. Social media and the media in general are blowing this way out of proportion. I have no doubt that Palhares could of broken that ankle if he wanted to, prolly just gave him a nice little crank to teach him a lesson. Pierce talked a lot of shit, some fighters, especially Brazilians, like Wanderlei Silva, take that shit personal. Don't fuck with little tree stump Mike Pierce, and if you do, pull an Alan Belcher and don't start tapping before he even locks the heel hook in. Remember, combat sports. Violence is the only answer in the cage. Unless you're Jon Fitch, then man hugging is perfectly acceptable. I also disagree that Palhares is unintelligent. Uneducated, yes. Unintelligent? No. This dude came up from nothing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHxSIs4ZTKA 3
Rambo
and on top of that, it was in the first 30 seconds of the fight. He's not tired. His adrenaline is at it's peak. Emotions are flying 1000 mph and he's in attack mode. That type of behavior must be excusable in a combat sport. Plenty of guys are still in the UFC despite landing a couple of punches when the ref was jumping in the middle of it. Nick and Nate Diaz are still in the UFC despite jumping Jason Miller lol. Wanderlei (and many others) are still in the UFC despite trying to fight Chael Sonnen out of the cage when all the cameras are rolling. Combat sports, violent individuals, shit like that's bound to happen. Not the end of the world. Just go watch Gracie's fights.
CusDamato
There is no defending the guy this is an organized sport not a street fight, he obviously held the sub too long on purpose. A guy getting a few punches in on an opponent thats out before the ref gets there is different because the fight hasn't been stopped yet. Trying to twist a guys leg after the ref had stopped the fight is just a lame move and not the first time he has done it, Who would even want to fight this guy now in the UFC? seems like a risk to your career since he don't stop when he is suppose to. 2
AK47
i watch the fight again and there was an extra second of cranking the other second he was attempting to let go of the sub
Manfred
He feels the tap, sees or feels the ref dive in like Superfly Snuka, then gives it one last crank for good measure. Watch his right arm closely. The way his elbow rotates towards the sky. That's not miscommunication or his foot being stuck or anything else. That's how you crank on a heel hook, and It's a dick move. http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/814119262.gif?1381362872
