ROV 38 Preview

Here we go again folks. I’m joined here by the best fans in the business: the crazy fanatics of ROV. In the main event we have a nice rematch, one that is sure to give us the business, to show us what fighting means. I’m looking forward to it (as I say many times throughout) and so should you be! This event takes place at the Kazan Sambo Center in St. Petersburg. ROV 38 is brought to you by //buriedALIVE// Fight Gear: Don’t defeat your opponent, bury them.

145 Ibs Title: Damien Redman (12-3-0) v Tony Ramos (11-2-0)

The first fight was pretty good but ended with controversy, at least some thought, so these warriors get to go at it again in the main event of ROV 38. Damien Redman has won his past four fights, all via doctor stoppage because of a cut. When I spoke to him about this after his previous victory against Ramos, Redman stated that he goes after cuts, which is why a lot of his fights have ended that way. Ramos was furious after the last fight, stating that he deserved a rematch. Well he got it. Some would agree with him, as he was dominating the fight up until the doctor stopped the match. Thankfully we get to see these guys go at it again. Will it end with another cut? Will Redman end it another way? Will Ramos get his victory that some thought he deserved? I can’t wait to find out, it’s gonna be a good one! Look for Redman to keep this thing close and open up another cut with elbows. Ramos will probably try to do what he did in his last fight, except avoid getting a nasty cut.

205 Ibs: George Steele (24-23-0) v Sioux Sie (17-16-0)

Who’s gonna come out of this win two wins over .500 and directly even with their record? This fight will tell which fighter gets which category. George Steele won his previous fight via submission. He comes into this one looking to start himself a winning streak after being on a two fight skid. Sioux Sie is 1-1 in ROV and 3-1 in his previous four fights. It looks like he’s been pushing himself too hard, as he’s going to go into this fight with a significant disadvantage energy wise. These guys are even in boxing. Sie is better in Muay Thai while Steele is better in wrestling and BJJ. Look for Steele to sink in his submission, which I think he will, as Sie will have trouble defending with his depleted energy.

205 Ibs: Juan Tamad (23-21-1) v Method Man (19-7-0)

Two more veterans go at it in the middle of the main event. Juan Tamad has been struggle bussing, 1-9 in his last ten, including a current two fight-losing streak. The 35 year old is refusing to quit though; I have a feeling he’ll fight as long as anyone will let him. Method Man is currently on a two fight-winning streak. He’s 2-1 in his last four with a no contest thrown in there. Standing up these guys are pretty even. Method Man has a slight advantage in boxing and Muay Thai. Tamad has a slight advantage in wrestling and a decent advantage in BJJ. Look for Man to keep it up while Tamad tries to keep it down.

265+ Ibs: Qasim Barakat (5-2-0) v Oleg Ljashko (4-1-0)

Former champ Qasim Barakat is trying to get back into title contention with this fight. After being unable to defend his title against Arnie Armstrong at ROV 31, Barakat bounced back with a victory at ROV 35. Look for his name to be thrown around in the management office if he’s able to defeat his opponent. Oleg Ljashko is on a current four fight winning streak. I think his name will be thrown around upstairs too if he manages to defeat the talented Qasim Barakat. These guys are even in boxing and BJJ while Barakat has the Muay Thai and wrestling advantage. Look for Ljashko to keep it close while Barakat tries to keep his distance in this one.

145 Ibs: Renan Melo (10-4-0) v Mario Bates (3-1-1)

The young guns start things off for the main card in this one. Melo is an experienced 22year old who lost his ROV debut against Bostar Tyraanicao. He’ll be looking to bounce back and get himself in the positive light in this matchup. Mario Bates started his career out in the winning ways, winning three straight. He dropped his next fight and then tied in his ROVV debut against George North. I think he’d like to get away from kissing his sister and earn himself a victory. Matching these two up, they’re even in boxing and BJJ. Melo has the wrestling advantage and Bates has the Muay Thai advantage. With that, look for Bates to use a variety of strikes close up while Melo tries to keep his distance or throw down on the ground.

Damien "The Damned" Redman (258829)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/2015032204355020141111010848Belt.png

How many times must i warn people to be careful what you wish for? I proved that once again when Ramos asked for a rematch and i quickly showed him that this is MY belt.

I hope you are watching, Alvarez because while i see you have become me by slicing your last opponent up to try to beat me, i have evolved and proven that i am not one dimensional and i do have other tools. Think very carefully... This is a beautiful belt, but is the permanent damage i cause to you worth you TRYING to take it from me??

I have already left my mark on your face. And anyone that has faced me a second time has seen that i turn it up a notch for rematches. What do you think i will do to you a second time?

ROV 38 Review

There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story

-Frank Herbert

Hello hello hello. Well everyone, the sad day has come. This is the last article I’ll be writing for this organization. I had to put in my two weeks notice two weeks ago, and now the time is up. I think I already said this, but I’m basically too busy with real life to really put in a full effort with reviews and preview for ROV. Just want to say that it has been great writing for you guys. A lot of you were very supportive and gave me many compliments on my work, for that I’ll always be greatful. Hopefully a new writer can be found, one that can give his full effort and attention to this fine organization. So this is it for me, Donny Stremphf checkin’ out!!!

145 Ibs Title: Damien Redman def Tony Ramos via TKO (Strikes) at 5:49 of Round 1

Well, Ramos got his rematch, another shot to prove that he was the true champion and that he should be wearing the belt. However, Redman denied him the opportunity again. The champ going into the fight was the same one coming out of the ring at the end. Things started out well for Ramos actually, after Redman threw a missed strike, Ramos countered a takedown into side control, a great place to be to do some damage on the ground. However, Ramos had no chance as Redman swept himself onto the top position just after. The action really stalled out after this, as each fighter was really just trying to stall and control the position, with Ramos trying to get a sweep himself. Just before the third minute, the ref stood things up. Some shots were traded, with Redman scoring a nice head shot that cut Tony Ramos, oh so familiar. Redman was the aggressor after that, and he was able to land more shots. He eventually took things into the clinch; however, he did not do too much other than land a nice body shot to Ramos. Ramos continued trying to get out of the position and eventually broke out before the fifth minute. They again went on to trade shots. Redman landed a nice cross that rocked Ramos. He then got Ramos with a nice big overhand right that put him down. Redman went on to lay down for strikes with the ref eventually stepping in and stopping this one. The fight rating was a 28 percent. Redman landed nine of 17 standing up. Ramos was four of 11 and one for one on takedowns. Neither guy did much in the clinch, with Redman being the only one to land a shot. Not much happened on the ground either. Redman will defend his belt against Micheal Alvarez on 8/15, while Ramos has nothing set up.

205 Ibs: Sioux Sie def George Steele via Submission (Armbar) at 2:36 of Round 4

This fight literally could not have spent more time on the ground. George Steele took the points in every round, however, he could not survive the fourth, as Sie locked in a submission and ended this one for a victory. In each round, Steele was able to take his opponent down quickly, except in the fourth, where there was about a two minute delay. Steele would then attempt submission after submission, but was not successful obviously. In total, he tried an astounding 27 submission attempts. The only one that matters, however, is the one that put this fight away, and that came at 2:36 of the fourth round. From the bottom just after getting taken down, Sie went for a triangle but quickly switched to an armbar. It was too much for Steele as he tried to roll out but failed. He was forced to tap and it was all over. The rating for this was a 49 percent. Steele didn’t throw any strikes standing up. He was three for 22 in takedowns and one out of two for them from the clinch. On the ground he was nine of 14 striking and zero for 27 in submission attempts. Sie was 14 of 20 striking. He was two of six striking on the ground and one of eight for sub attempts. Steele will face Tommy Victorio on 8/7 while has a fight under offer.

205 Ibs: Method Man def Juan Tamad via Submission (Armbar) at 2:58 of Round 4

This fight was very similar to the co-main event. Juan Tamad won every round except the last, as Method Man was able to score a submission victory from his back. These guys stood and traded shots more than the fighters in the previous review. However, Tamad, like Steele, was able to get a takedown every round where the majority of the fight was spent. Tamad had good control and defended well against the submission attempts of Man at first. Tamad didn’t try for a submission victory of his own, instead opting to control and pick and choose his ground shots. Unfortunately, this did not work. Halfway through the fourth, Tamad got his takedown. Just after, Man started out with a triangle attempt but switched to an armbar. Tamad tried, but he was forced to tap out of this one. The fight rating was a 50 percent. Method Man was 18 of 37 striking standing up and four out of five in the clinch. He was three for three of ground strikes and one of four in the sub attempts. Tamad was 14 of 36 standing up and five of nine takedowns. He was six of 25 ground striking. Method Man does not have anything set up. Tamad fought out his contract in this fight. It is unclear whether he’ll be back or not.

265+ Ibs: Qasim Barakat def Oleg Ljashko via KO (Pounch) at 2:58 of Round 1

Former champ Qasim Barakat had no problem defeating Oleg Ljashko in this one. Barakat stopped the clinch attempts of his opponent and was able to outbox him, not allowing his opponent to land any shots. Things went pretty quick here, as about halfway through the first, Barakat landed a nice uppercut that rocked Ljashko. He than landed another uppercut that sent Ljashko into la la land. Overall, the fight had a rating of 53 percent. Barakat was 16 of 20 striking while Ljashko, as was previously said, landed nothing. Barakat has nothing set up yet while Ljashko will face Antti Konna on 8/15.

145 Ibs: Renan Melo def Mario Bates via Submission (Armbar) at 2:20 of Round 1

Armbars were very popular on the main card, as this was the third reviewed fight (the first one to take place) that ended with this type of submission. Things started out slow, as each fighter was feeling each other out/trying to gain the dominant position. Eventually Bates moved into the clinch halfway through the first minute. There were some shots traded, with Melo eventually taking this one to the ground. He and Bates fought for position as Bates eventually got a reversal and found himself on top. Melo then tried for a couple of submissions off his back, the last one being successful. Again, things started as a triangle but eventually moved to a successful armbar. The fight rating was a 47 percent. Melo was two of four striking standing up, two of four striking in the clinch, and one of two for sub attempts. Bates was two of three striking standing up and didn’t land anything in the clinch or on the ground. Melo doesn’t have a fight set up while his opponent has one under offer.

You are welcome to try. But i see your profile has you carrying around a toy belt. Make sure you don't throw it away because once i am done with you, that will be the only belt you have.

Thanks to Damien Redman for a great fight, he's one hell of a test, got hurt badly in the third but continued on. This is a great step in my career, as now I'm officially the ROV Featherweight champion!!!

P.S. I also noticed I have the most wins in the organisation! That's a sweet achievement :)

You'll definetly get your chance at redemption. We are both top level guys at our ID, same weight, same goals... Our roads will clash again, I promiss, I don't know if it will be in ROV or even on a bigger tier organisation, but you gave me another chance - you'll get yours as well. Definetly ;)

I apologize for interrupting you're little 69 session, but take eachothers dick out your mouth before speak in public. I will make you both tap out on my way to the belt, but I'm sure Bostar will make quick work of you anyway Doomy.

You hit me TWO whole times.

Anyway we both played to our strengths and in the end you were able to take me to your world and tapped me before i could scar your pretty face. I have no excuse.

Now after getting tapped by a brown belt, i jump in with a BLACK belt. That a smart thing to do? Probably not.

Good thing smart genes don't run in the Redman family.

Well... As much as it pains me to say it, Michael Alvarez has indeed proven himself the better fighter as we go 2-1 in our trilogy.

With this fight, i am on a 1-3 run which is a career worst for me.

I am NOT happy with my run at the moment and i will go back to my gym and train like a complete madman. I feel sorry for my next opponent, as i am gonna unleash a world of hurt you have never seen before. I am going to do to my next opponent what i should have done in my last 4 fights.

If Rodrigo Cabral is stupid enough to accept this fight (and i hope he does) then we should make arrangements with the local hospital now to get people to donate blood to replenish that amount he will be losing in our fight.

I don't know what happened, but after i lost my title i seemed to have also lost focus.

But i am back in St Petes now and as i fight my way back to the top, i am going to make sure ROV lives up to it's name. Some idiot has agreed to step into the ring with me, and that same idiot is going to leave with some fresh new scars as i paint the ring red with his BLOOD!

100 elbows to the head and he STILL didn't go down.

I almost feel bad for the damage i unleashed. Almost. With that many shots to the head and he still didnt go down, the pain he should be feeling is the least of his worries....

And that, is how you fight championship fights! All of my hard preparation led to this - 1st round obliteration with absolutely no shots absorbed. This belt is staying in UK for long, if you're thinking about a belt in ROV, you should start looking at the other divisions. Lightweight will only have it's one and only king - me.

Tyaf Daeland Puno

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/13986921674753.png
Top ROV Contender.

At age 20, Pacman quickly teamed up with Bradley Burns, and Elite Canadian Bruins Gym in Montreal and under his new management his potential shined. Pacman currently has a house in Manilla, Montreal & New York but prefers to walk and bus rather than drive or fly. He regularly runs food drives and and built New York & Montreal Homeless Shelters.

200.gif

Pacman made his MMA debut at GAMMA Kids NY and took a dominating Unanimous Decision of Jimmy Snuka. Pacman displayed excellent boxing, take-downs and ground work.

His next opponent was a former ECFC Champion Fez Pez. Puno stunned the world with one of the best KO's of the year, which left Pez face-planted and out for the count. A huge defining statement for Young Puno.

PUNO BRUTALLY KO'S FEZ PEZ!
http://cdn3.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/313575/1.gif

Puno then fought Olympics Gold Medalist Tony Ramos and was TKO'd in the 2nd round after a controversial stoppage and Ramos left the org after Puno was given a rematch contract and Ramos refused. Puno was then given the Title shot against long time Champ and the best 255k+ ID in the world, Lukasz Wolek. After 5 rounds, the fight was close, but clearly Wolek had edged it out. Both men stood respectful and congratulated each-other on a crazy fight.

Pacman said after the loss "This was the best thing to ever happen to me, I'll be so much better next time forward..This is good for me, my father said you must fall down to stand up again."

Puno came back and signed with ROV & defeated World Class opponent Damien Redman, who was the former ROV Champion. Puno was a large underdog in the fight but won the exchanges and during one of many wild scrambles Puno was able to snatch up a vicious kneebar for the victory near the end of rd 1.

And with that I finish my last fight on my ROV contract with a disappointing loss.

Since being the most violent 145 Champion this org has seen, i have only won 3 out of my last 8 fights.

Time to fill out those holes and fight my way back to the top. You ain't seen the last of me.

I hope no one minds but I would just like to get the word out that Iron Fist gym is now under new management and has been opened up to the public. It is currently the only mid-priced gym in St. Petersburg, at $500/week for 10 elite coaches and regularly updated equipment. There's no sparring schedule yet since the only fighters in the gym right now are those that were there when it was still a private gym, but we'll establish one once we get more fighters in the gym. Vending supplements will also follow soon once someone replies to my ad for a nutrition partner. Any feedback and advice is appreciated. That is all, thank you for the time and space :)
