C162: Veainu vs Finlayson III

Event Preview: C162: Veainu vs Finlayson III
Combate
2023-01-29, Tokyo, Tokyo Bowl
Author: Chris Karter

Tokyo, Japan - Going down at Combate 162 on 1/28 is a main event clash between Siale Veainu (28-9-0) and Torhte Finlayson (37-3-0) in the Light Heavyweight division. This is the trilogy between two of the best Island fighters in 2022 who both hold a knockout victory over each other during their time at Highland. These two camps have battled bitterly in the past, and the rivalry continues heading into this showdown that Combate has put together. With 63 knockouts between the two fighters, fans can all but guarantee one of these men are getting put down in style, satisfying the estimated 250,000+ CTE-thirsty fans expected to order the PPV.

The co-main event features a bout between the #2 and #3 ranked welterweights in the world as Dude McWrestler (24-8-0) takes on Frank Morrison (25-12-0) in what should be a #1 contender fight for Raate Road at 170 lbs. The charismatic Dude McWrestler makes his Combate debut against a Combate and SYN veteran who he already holds a decision win over in the Blaze Brothers organization back in January of 2022.

Elsewhere on the main card former title contender "Kung Fu Zombie" Bong Ji Woo (24-8-0) takes on the Turkish Necmettin Hoca (18-16-0) in the Lightweight division in what is expected to be a rag-dolling. Necmettin Hoca was a last-minute replacement after a fighter named Zaid Al Balushi ran away to SYN to sell his infamous fake Rolexes to Dana Black and the rest of his posse, and Kung Fu Zombie enters this bout as a heavy favorite.

Egyptian fighter Walad Anubis (19-10-0) came over to Combate during the Blaze Brothers organization merger and makes his Combate when he takes on former top ranked welterweight Serhey Rishkinov (38-15-0) on the main card in a classic striker verse grappler match-up.

Opening the main card is trilogy between SFL veterans and former champions Oliver Lancaster (33-16-0) and Ryszard Wojcik (36-22-0). Both of these men possess a knockout victory over each other, with Wojcik being infamous for welcoming Lancaster to the Middleweight division with a big KO punch, a rude awakening for Lancaster.

DREAM FIGHT: GARUDA VS KAHN | YAGO STEVE RETURNS TO BRAZIL | LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE UNIFICATION BOUT | FORMER SYN CHAMP TAKES ON KUNG FU ZOMBIE | & MORE!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Mantak Garuda16203395128490.jpg

"Hands of Shiva" Mantak Garuda (39-13-1, 3-0 Combate) vs "The Pitbull" Mohammed Kahn (29-8-1, 17-6 Combate) is a Light Heavyweight showdown that Combate fight fans have wanted to see for years. #5 LHW vs #13 LHW. The duo shares a combined 56 knockouts between their 68 wins. Both men often pay their tribute to the Just Bleed gods more often than not, so you can guarantee that this is going to be a bloody fight between two of the top Light Heavyweights in the game.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Yago Steve

Former SYN champion Yago Steve (29-10-0) signs with Combate citing lax drug testing as the main incentive. Since finding a permanent home at The Rubber Guard Emporium, a YABAI affiliated gym under manager Mikey C, the Brazilian fighter has amassed a highlight reel of knockouts under the SYN banner. After his last hiccup at Super Nova, "Overthrower" complained about the extensive drug testing he endured leading up to the fight. He now heads home to Rio de Janeiro and his arrival is cheered for by the people of Brazil.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Valentin TaneyevMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Tristan St. Gough

Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (30-14-1) is booked to defend his Combate Light Heavyweight championship against the Blaze Brothers organization's champion Tristan St. Gough (14-6-0) in a title unification bout between both orgs. The two knockout artists are scheduled to collide at Combate 164 and you can expect fireworks out the gate, both fighters vowing to knockout the other.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Ispa Perkele14947188391358.gif

Former SYN champion "Mista" Ispa Perkele (26-12-2) is scheduled to face "Kung Fu Zombie" Bong Ji Woo (25-8-0, 9-6 Combate) in the co-main event at Combate 165. These two are arguably the most skilled in the division, both veterans of the fight game, and they face off in a classic striker vs grappler showdown. Perkele has never been submitted in his 40 fight MMA career, but BJW makes a bold claim when he says he'll be the first to submit Perkele inside the cage.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Maximilian Bonaparte

Big announcement from Combate as they sign top Heavyweight prospect Maximilian "The Lion" Bonaparte (15-5-0) to a 5-fight deal. The 245-pound fighter out of Lyons, France, stands 205 cm tall and is a kick-boxing specialist with dynamite in his hands and feet, finishing 14 of his 15 professional fights by way of knockout. Bonaparte is a human highlight reel and Combate brass is beaming in anticipation of his Combate debut; his opponent has yet to be announced, but fans are excited.

KILGORE VS ZEE LAND | RETURN OF BARRON WHITE | IAGO FARFAN SIGNS! WAITING FOR CHAMP | BONAPARTE CALLS OUT YAGO STEVE | FINLAYSON FACING OFF AGAINST FORMER TEAMMATE

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Tacitus KilgoreMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Zee Land

Combate welterweight champion Tacitus Kilgore (33-13, 8-4 Combate) takes on Blaze Brothers champion Zee Land (22-7-0, 0-0 Combate) in a Lightweight title unification bout at C167. The #2 LW in the world takes on the #9 LW in the world. Tacitus Kilgore has spent his last 2 fights under the SYN banner crushing cans, meanwhile Zee Land is coming over from the Combate-BB merger with a 7-fight win streak behind him.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Barron White1415893171image.jpg

Combate brass has been in contact with SYN' management in regard to the return of their Heavyweight champion Barron White (24-8-1, 7-1-1 Combate). After a tense standoff at the negotiation table that led all parties involved nowhere, the two sides are finally expected to come to an agreement that would give the fans the fight they want to see. Fans are expecting to see him return to the Combate arena again in the near future.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Iago Farfan1615088298xYVwGjKK_o.png

"The Parrot" Iago Farfan (12-3-0) signs a non-exclusive 5-fight contract with Combate! He entered free agency as one of the hottest prospects on the market, and while financial numbers were undisclosed, Farfan's management team have insinuated that their fighter was paid handsomely.

"Whatever you're thinking add a zero." Farfan's manager Mikey C tells our reporter. "He was very sought after, and Combate made a deal we couldn't refuse."

Iago Farfan is a 3-time ENIGMA Heavyweight champion and the #8 Heavyweight in the world, and the fans are slamming Combate social media in an effort to see Farfan in action. Some are expecting a tune up fight or a #1 contender matchup, but rumors circulating the net suggest that Combate matchmaker Blaze King and Iago Farfan himself are waiting for the return of Barron White for an immediate title shot.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Maximilian BonaparteMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Yago Steve

Maximilian "The Lion" Bonaparte (15-5-0) calls out "Overthrower" Yago Steve (29-10-0).

"If Puno can knock him out in 5 seconds, I can do it in 3." Bonaparte proclaims. "Did you see Puno's striking in his last fight? He looked like an amateur. Allow me to gift the old man an early retirement."

A bold callout for a big prospect in the Heavyweight division. Will Combate management heed Bonaparte's request and set this match-up? CEO Chris Karter pumps the brakes as he indicates otherwise:

"I heard his (Bonaparte) callout. That's a dream fight for the fans, and could we see them cross swords in future? Absolutely." Karter says. "But we've got big plans for both these fighters, and I think a fight between the two could come to fruition after they make their Combate debuts."

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Torhte FinlaysonMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Kil Bon Hwa

Torhte "Gingy Bear" Finlayson (38-3-0) faces off against Kil Bon Hwa (22-4-0) at Combate 165. Finlayson is the Light Heavyweight tournament winner during The Island Season 12, and Bon Hwa is the Light Heavyweight runner-up in The Island Season 13.

Both fighters trained together at the Fist of Fury Training Center managed by YABAI's golden boy Action Jackson, until recently when Kil Bon Hwa parted ways with Action Jackson and signed with the Blaze King management firm. Each fighter claims that their time spent together in the gym gives them an inside edge over the other man, but according to anonymous sources the South Korean was frequently brutalized by Finlayson in sparring - a rumor Finlayson denied.

"That's not true." Finlayson says, "We trained together. He won some rounds, I won the other 99%, but we're both professionals and we operate with a level head. There's no ill-will, just business."

IAGO FARFAN SHARES THOUGHTS ON UPCOMING TITLE FIGHT VS BARRON WHITE

Iago Farfan (12-3-0) has given his first reaction to his Combate debut which will be a title unification bout against reigning Combate Heavyweight Champion Barron White (24-8-1).

The hype, as you can imagine, is real. It’s a great place for the Combate organization to be in and the same goes for mixed martial arts as a whole. The fans have been clamoring for the moment they get to see Iago Farfan in action, and that moment came last night when the bout was finalized and both men signed the dotted line.

Alas, while he’s made very few comments on social media, Iago hadn’t spoken in an interview format about the White match-up – until now.

“I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to it. I feel good, feel energetic, feel ready. I’m throwing up my high kicks faster than I’m throwing up my jab. So, I’m very excited to get back.”

Iago also revealed that he’s been living in Las Vegas training at The Rubber Guard Emporium in preparation for his highly anticipated title fight against Barron White.

ROAD TO #1 GOES THROUGH COMBATE | #1 WW vs #2 WW | COMBATE vs SMASH

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Raate RoadMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Kaki Mountain

Combate welterweight champion Raate Road (28-4-1, #2 P4P, #1 WC) defends his crown against SMASH welterweight champion Kaki Mountain (23-10-0, #11 P4P, #2 WC) at Combate 169 where they're expected to blow the roof off of the Sydney Superdome in some classic Finn on Finn violence.

170 lbs, Combate185 lbs, Synchronicity170 lbs, SMASH Fighting Championship

There's a lot of hardware on the line as these two combatants square off, and both men have been absolutely dominant when facing SYN competition. Raate Road went to SYN and captured the Middleweight title by defeating Joe Exotic. Exotic liked getting beat up by Road so much that Road accepted a rematch and did it again.

Kaki Mountain recently defeated SYN Welterweight champion Mario Benedetti in a superfight under the SMASH banner. It was a complete shutout on the scorecards, but Mountain was rocked in the 5th round momentarily, which was about all the SYN champion could do to muster some offense before getting blanked 50-45 by all three judges scoring the contest.

This is a classic bout between the #1 WW and the #2 WW in the game. Who doesn't like to see #1 vs #2? It's a fight that makes most sense for both the fans and the fighters. Combate worked diligently with Alexander Biro and SMASH officials to get a deal done, and all parties involved quickly agreed to it before making it official.

Toby Keith Yrkje Ripped by Fans for Anti-Gay Post

Former Blaze Brothers star and Combate welterweight fighter "Cow Puncher" Toby Keith Yrkje (21-12-0) is in the crosshairs of the LGBTQ community ... after he tweeted an anti-gay response to a commercial that showed two men kissing.

The 30-year-old, who famously submitted #2 Welterweight Kaki Mountain back at BB 32, fired off the offensive comments after he said he saw the ad while watching ESPN+.

In his tweet, he said the commercial was "disgusting" and that he had to tell his kids "look away so they don't see two men kissing."

The former fighter, a devout Christian, added a throwing up emoji. Immediately, the Combate Welterweight fighter was panned by fans for the remarks ... but he doubled down on his stance in further tweets.

"Touching tips don't make a baby." He added, "and the devil will sodomize your souls in hell."

As of Monday afternoon, the posts were still up on his social media page Toby Keith's last pro fight came at Combate 166, when he lost a close decision to top Welterweight contender Dude McWrestler in a grueling man-on-man grappling fight.

Billy Blank shows fans why he is the Bulldozer

LOS ANGELES - Billy "Bulldozer" Blank (16-7-0) showed fight fans why they call him Bulldozer during his Combate debut at Combate 164 when he took on former BB Heavyweight champion Juki Allu (16-8-0) in a clash of BB veterans making their Combate debut after the BB organization merger.

Juki Allu was riding a 6-fight win streak heading into the bout that included 3 consecutive title fight defenses prior to meeting the British Billy Blank in the cage. Billy had overcame the Corona Virus in only 39 seconds prior to this matchup, and that made him feel invincible.

"The Corona Virus TKO'd the whole world in 2020, and I beat it in 39 seconds. I not only beat it, I knocked it the f*** out." Billy Blank proudly exclaims. "I knew if I could defeat the Corona Virus, I could defeat anything. Absolutely anything. So I went out there and proved it mate. I proved it big time."

And prove it big time is exactly what he did against Juki Allu, who headed into their bout as the slight favorite. Blank, a blackbelt in BJJ known for the power in his hands, put that power on display with slick counter striking as he boxed Allu up, knocked him down with a right, then finished him off with a big time overhand that sent Allu crumpling to the canvas, out cold.

And all it took was 53 seconds in the first round.

"I've got dynamite in me hands, I'm tellin' ya lads, you boys better mind your P's and Q's or I'll knock your blocks off. I will straight up bulldoze you gents." Blank warned the rest of the Heavyweight division after a successful debut. "I'm coming for that gold. I want me belt. Somebody give me a belt."

As of right now, it looks like Billy might get his wish. But first he has to sit back and watch Combate Heavyweight champion Barron White defend his Heavyweight strap against ENIGMA Heavyweight champion Iago Farfan at Combate 168. You can bet your britches that Billy Blank will be preparing harder than ever for his future title fight, and he's expected to be cageside when his competition faces off in their head to head showdown.

Lou Valentine had $100 in his bank account before last win

LOS ANGELES – "The Wolverine" Lou Valentine beat Rigel Ko Nachi with a third-round submission on the preliminary card at Combate 164 in Los Angeles.

Take a look inside the fight with Valentine, who picked up his first Combate win after a rough outing in 2022 that saw him go 5-7-1 throughout the year.

“I can’t remember if the sequence happened where I had a kimura grip earlier in the fight and I kind of abandoned it or felt like it wasn’t quite there, or if it was the same sequence and I readjusted. But whatever it was the second time, or maybe it was the third time, or even the fourth time, the time that I got the finish, it started off not too deep, and then something happened. I don’t know, I shifted on my hip a little bit, and I felt it kind of slide in there a little bit deeper."

“Once he rolled to his back, I knew he was kind of in trouble. I thought about using it just to sweep and get on top and go back into mountain and kind of control the round like I did in the first round. But somewhere in there I heard him whining a little bit and just decided to crank on it and got to finish.”

“I definitely knew if I took this loss, I probably wouldn’t be in here for the next fight in the same breath. I also know that I have my back, and whatever happens, if I did lose, I would find some way and life would go on. Combate is the top of the game, and it’s been my dream, but you never know what life is going to deal with you or you never know what hand life is going to give you. And if it did give me a loss, I was going to keep going. This is my life. This is the way that fighting is, the way that I learn who I am. It’s the way that I become a better person."

“Even if I took a loss, I wasn’t going to stop. Even if I was out of Combate, I wasn’t going to stop. So once you commit to being, I guess, a lifer in the sport, it doesn’t really matter if you take three or four losses in a row. You just know you’re going to keep going. And whether that’s in Combate great, whether it’s not great, I’m just going to keep going, and it’s the way I want to live my life."

“I’m a riser. When my back is against the wall, I claw out. I don’t shell up. I don’t hide from adversity. I have my back, and that’s a comforting feeling, and world is getting crazy. It’s a good thing to know you have your own back, and I have a whole team of people that have my back, as well. I’m just I’m blessed.”

Valentine on what he wants next “I don’t have any callouts. All I want to do is: Mom, Dad, if you all end up watching this, thank you all so much. The world gets real small when you lose a couple of fights. But throughout the whole thing, ups and downs, and not just my pro career, not just my Blaze career or what will turn out to be my Combate career, but my amateur career, every sport I played growing up, my parents had been there through thick and thin supporting me – the whole way through. And I owe you all the world. Thank you all. I love you all."

“(My first Combate win) means a lot. I need the money. I had probably $100 in my bank account, and that’s probably going to be gone, whatever this hotel charges me my fee. So, yeah, to have money in the bank account and not hit an overdraft fee will be huge.”

# 6 LW Tacitus Kilgore (33-13-0) puts his title on the line at Combate 167 against # 10 LW Zee Land (22-7-0). Kilgore's a pressure fighting specialist who is relentless from start to finish, but he's facing a crafty long-limbed black belt in Jiu-Jitsu in Zee Land, that has 10 submission victories on his resume. Kilgore has 4 sub losses but hasn't been tapped out since 11-17-2021 but his last couple bouts have been against the questionable competition under the SYN banner in a Yankee infested country.

#12 HW Barron White (24-8-1) defends his title at Combate 168 against #7 HW "The Parrot" Iago Farfan (12-3-0). After White won the SYN title against Leif Leifsson back at SYN's ironically named The Last Shooting Star II event, he suffered a two fight skid losing the belt to Kilo Maluga and then submitting to strikes against Kjetil Olsen. White just hasn't looked the same in his last two outings and his camp is citing SYN's more intrusive drug testing policy as a reason. Iago Farfan is looking to ruin Barron White's welcome back party at Combate, and he appears geared up to prove to the rest of the Heavyweight division that he is a force to be reckoned with.

#1 WW Raate Road (28-4-1) faces off against #2 WW Kaki Mountain (23-11-0) in a Combate superfight that features the #2 P4P fighter (Road) fighting #13 P4P (Mountain) in a matchup that's guaranteed to blow the roof off of the Sydney Superdome at Combate 169. Road is the reigning Combate welterweight champion that has been busy cementing his P4P ranking as one of the best fighters on the planet by beating Joe "The Real Tiger King" Exotic (24-10-1) for the SYN middleweight title with a spanking so nice that he had to do it twice in back-to-back fights. Mountain is riding high after a dominant victory against SYN welterweight champion Mario Benedetti and SMASH welterweight champion Jimmy Lee. The two top welterweights in the world clash at Combate 169 to establish the #1 fighter in the division.

#2 LHW Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (31-14-1) duels #5 LHW "Hands of Shiva" Mantak Garuda (40-13-1) in Co-Main Event of Combate 169. Garuda recently remained undefeated under the Combate banner by becoming the first fighter to ever knock out Combate legend "The Pitbull" Mohammed Kahn (29-9-1). Taneyev is coming off a knockout of the night performance over Tristan St. Gough (14-7-0), and is riding a 4-fight win streak with all his wins coming by way of knockout or stoppage. We can only hope that these men are capable of recovering from the CTE they're about to induce to one another in a fight that features two of the hardest hitters in the entire division.

Big names. Big ass fights. Top notch production.

ROAD SMESHES SMASH CHAMP | RANKED #2 P4P | COMBATE DEFEATS SMASH
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Raate RoadMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Kaki Mountain

Raate Road (29-4-1, #2 P4P) defended his Welterweight championship by smeshing SMASH Welterweight champion Kaki Mountain (23-12-0) at Combate 169 where they quite literally blew the roof off of the Sydney Superdome in some classic Finn on Finn violence, as expected.

Raate Road used a mix of striking and grappling to throw off the rhythm of Kaki Mountain to secure a takedown in the 4th round, advance to mount, and smashed the challenger's face with big strikes.

Despite the dominant performance on the ground from Road, he also showed off his standup game, hitting Mountain with a dramatic spinning backfist in the 3rd round that drew applause from the fans.

TANEYEV STARCHES GARUDA | RANKED #4 P4P | RANDY WANTS NEXT
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Valentin TaneyevMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Mantak Garuda

Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (32-14-1, #4 LHW) defended his Light Heavyweight title against "Hands of Shiva" Mantak Garuda (40-14-1) with a big knockout of the night punch, extending his winning streak to 5.

Both these fighters were sauced up, but Taneyev looked extra crispy with his strikes as he countered the over-aggressive Garuda, who just couldn't seem to find the mark. It was clear from the start that both men were head hunting, but it was the Russian that proved to be the better man that night as he countered a lot of Garuda's punches and put him to sleep with a powerful right cross that turned out the lights in the 1st round.

Taneyev's performance got the attention of the #3 Light Heavyweight in the world, Randy Randleman (31-11-0), who quickly signed the dotted line to be his next opponent at Combate 172. Taneyev has seemingly found his strive since joining Bushido Martial Arts in Sydney, but this matchup against the SYN Light Heavyweight championship is expected to be one of his toughest to date.

TOP HEAVYWEIGHT PROSPECTS COLLIDE | #1 CONTENDER FIGHT | TOWERS COLLIDE
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Abdul KejiMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Maximilian Bonaparte

Nigeria kickboxer Abdul "Fist" Keji (17-4-0) meets Maximilian "The Lion" Bonaparte (16-5-0) in a collision featuring two of MMA's top Heavyweight prospects. Bonaparte usually towers over opponents, standing at 205 cm, but this is one fight that the French fighter won't have the reach advantage in when he goes up against the 225 cm tall Keji.

Keji is a freak of nature that has been with CHECKMATE PRIME MMA his entire career, a career that started at Victory Kickboxing, where he went 2-1 before making the transition to MMA. One thing that he's carried over is elite striking and blistering knockout power. Keji has put his KO power on display in his first two fights under the Combate banner, finishing both his opponents with strikes in the first round.

Bonaparte is a former three-time ENIGMA Heavyweight champion and human highlight reel. He delivered a dominant performance in his Combat debut against a long-time Combate veteran Magnus Von Ver Huevan (28-16-0), in which Bonaparte looked like Heavyweight Mayweather out there enroute to a decisive decision victory. This fight marks only the second time in his 21-fight career that he didn't win by knockout or ref stoppage.

Bringing you highlights from Combate's three events this weekend...

REIGN OF NAKAGAWA CONTINUES | OBAMINATOR LOSES TRILOGY | WHAT'S NEXT?
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Shinnosuke NakagawaMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Barack Obaminator

Shinnosuke Nakagawa (19-8) defeated Barack Obaminator (24-12) to retain the Combate Middleweight championship at C171. The Presidential doppelganger was no match for the Japanese red belt in jiujitsu, and Barack's anti-commie grappling just couldn't fend off the intense man-on-man action that Shinnosuke would enforce.

If you like to watch two sweaty men roll around on the ground with each other, this was a banger. It was a closely contested fight between two of the most dangerous jiu-jitsu based fighters in the Middleweight division that put a stamp on the rivalry, putting Nakagawa ahead 2-1 on Obaminator.

However, with rivalries like Kilo vs Conor and Kilo vs Leif, and with organizations being run like GAMMA, one can't help but think that maybe these two will fight again if Obaminator can get back into the win column. Perhaps rigging another erection will get him there quicker.

For now, Nakagawa holds a 6-fight win streak with 4 submission victories, to go along with a unified Combate and Blaze Brothers Middleweight championship.

FIGHT OF THE NIGHT | CRANIO WINS SLUGFEST | THOR COMES UP SHORT
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Quebra CranioMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Thor White

Former Combate Middleweight champion Quebra "El Cabuloso" Cranio (13-9-1) edged out fan favorite Thor "Thurder" White (17-8) in a 3-round slugfest.

In the first round both men landed hard shots drawing blood.

In the second round things really started to heat up when Cranio dropped White with a left-right combination that had the Brit's bell rung. But in Thor like fashion, that seemed to wake him up and both fighters finished the round swinging for the fences.

The final round picked up where it left off with Cranio seemingly stumbling his opponent with a good shot before getting countered with a blistering combination from White that sent him to the canvas. White dove in, clearly looking for a finish, but Cranio wisely adapted a defensive guard.

White continued to look for subs, but with the blood thirsty fans growing restless, the ref would stand the fighters up much to the dismay of White's corner. At this point both fighters did their best to swing for the fences with what little time remained, with Cranio being a little more efficient standing.

At the end of the bout the judges awarded Quebra Cranio the unanimous decision victory in a fight that earned Fight of the Night honors and a $25,000 bonus. It's worth noting that "El Cabuloso" is 3-1 since joining Malikoy Muza at Master Chai's Dojo and appears ready to get back into title contention.

Meanwhile Thor White is on a 3-fight skid, the first of his career, after winning the belt in his previous organization. The Bournemouth native has built up a lot of popularity and support from the fans for his exciting fights, but one has to wonder how long he'll be able to keep it if he doesn't return to form.

RANDLEMAN OUTLAST TANEYEV | COMEBACK TKO IN THE FINAL ROUND | TANEYEV DONE?
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Randy RandlemanMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Valentin Taneyev

Randy Randleman (32-11) will be dancing tonight after defeating Combate Light Heavyweight champion Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (32-15-1) by TKO in the 5th round with an epic comeback victory.

An instant classic, Taneyev had Randleman rocked when he dropped him in the 2nd round and was on his way to dominating the cards before Randleman clipped him midway through the 5th round with a shot that clearly hurt him. Randleman pounced on his stunned opponent and pounded away at him from mount until the ref stopped the fight.

Some would protest that the stoppage was just a little early and that some funny Vegas money had something to do with it. With no proof to back this claim, we can only look forward to seeing how Taneyev rebounds from this loss in his next title defense. He drops to 5-3 since signing with One Man Wolf Pack's mystery man, and definitely not my cousin, Akira Shigeru.

NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION | BLANK BULLDOZES WHITE | #3 IN THE WORLD
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Billy BlankMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Barron White

Billy "Buldozer" Blank (17-7) shocked a lot of pundits when he KO'd previous Heavyweight champion Barron White (25-9-1) in the first round of their title fight.

Blank knocked an over-aggressive White down twice in the first minute of the bout with two big right hands. After finding his range with that right hand, he called upon it again, but this time it turned the lights out and White wasn't getting up. Blank ran around with a crazed look on his face and the fans were going nuts.

He finished his Combate debut in less than a minute when he defeated Juki Allu, and it took him only 1:11 in the first round to capture the belt.

The newly crowned champion from Checkmate Prime MMA puts his name on the map in style, as one of the top Heavyweights in the world, by extending his winning streak to 5 with 4 first round finishes. He's a 7'3" freak of nature, and we're excited for his first title defense.

SONNY BEATS KITSURAGI LIKE HE OWES HIM MONEY | MOLLYWHOPPING | NO FREEBIES
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Sonny GiovanniMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Kim Kitsuragi

In a bout between Middleweight contenders Sonny "Flash" Giovanni (9-2) beat Kim Kitsuragi (14-8-1) so badly that the broadcast team thought Kitsuragi owed him money.

The first round was close and competitive. The second round started out the same until Kitsuragi violated the gentlemen's agreement aka as the no takedown clause, which made Sonny act very un-gentlemen like.

Sonny popped up off the ground and started beating the crap out of Kitsuragi like a red-headed stepchild. Like Arlovski beat Travis Browne. Like a pimp beats his bottom bitch. Sonny knocked this man down 3 times before the round was over, and let him get up every time just to do it again.

Credit where credit is due, it was impressive that Kim Kitsuragi was even able to get off the stool for the final round, but perhaps it was his fear of being sent to the abyss by his manager @Alfred for dishonoring him that ultimately motivated Kitsuragi to go back out there and accept his forthcoming ass-whooping.

It was a molly-whopping. Sonny Giovanni came out and beat Kim like War Machine beat Christy Mack. He hit him with a combo. An uppercut. A head kick. A three piece and a biscuit that left the man motionless on the canvas 2 minutes and 59 seconds into the 3rd round. Sonny Giovanni looked like an assassin, with "Flash" improving to 2-0 under the Combate banner and rising up the ranks.

Kjetil Olsen

"Congratulations to the new blood on finishing Barron so quickly. I suppose there's some credit due there since Barron looked like he'd overcome the embarrassment of tapping out to strikes against me by squashing a little parrot on the way to the title. A short, sharp finish is admirable... but to tease and torture a man with heavy fists and brutal kicks over three rounds just enough so he's crippled enough to not fight back, while also not quite just enough for a referee to stop it... that's art. To make a fighter as credentialed as Barron White to scream and say no to more... simply a cherry on top of a performance masterpiece. Take nothing away from your performance, but apart from our towering heights, we are not the same.

I will be watching your first title defence with great interest. See if you can match my performance against him. An uppercut from hell to knock him out clean without a strike landed in return, a performance not even the legendary Conor the Barbarian could quite match.

Our paths are not destined to cross just yet, as I am recovering from just beheading Hoost at Syn and tackling other killers, but perhaps one day we will find each other in the same cage."

There was a young man with a hat
Who thought he could play me tit for tat
I collected with glee
Another arm for me
And made CK think, 'How bout dat?'

EDIT: Since Kronos is reportedly mad at being snubbed for the event awards, he had this to say:

Our fight, back and forth
Parrot boy smashed by Jones
Where is the justice?

Bringing you highlights from Combate's recent events...

TANEYEV SENDS KAHN WARNING | TANEYEV VS KAHN IV | BAD BLOOD
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Valentin Taneyev15140720024006.jpg

Taneyev warns Kahn after sharing sparring stories, Kahn responds with Combate challenge. Fight quickly materializes after.

Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (32-15-1) is ready to teach "The Pitbull" Mohammed Kahn (31-9-1) a lesson next time they fight against each other after recent comments made by Kahn to tycoon times media.

Speaking to Miss Miracle and the Tycoon Times, Kahn spoke about past sparring sessions with the Combate light heavyweight champion when they were amateurs. Kahn claimed that he won a lot of rounds against Taneyev, submitted the former champ “many times,” and “beat him many times.” On Thursday, Taneyev responded on his Instagram stories.

“Which person needs to speak, again and again, about this 16-year-old information? Gym insider information,” Taneyev said. “When we will meet next time in a cage, I will show you my true power. I will not take it lightly no more. Don’t speak about others too much. Hate yourself less. You will sleep soon.”

Later on, Kahn responded on his own IG stories, showing a screenshot of messages he sent to Kahn challenging him to a fight — tagging the Darren Russel and Combate as well.

“See you soon boy,” Kahn stated. “Respect for taking the fight when you had every excuse not to. Doctor stoppages can't save you this time.”

Taneyev first won the Combate light heavyweight title at Combate 147 when he defeated Kahn via TKO (cut) ahead in the third round. Taneyev enters the rematch after coming up short in a Fight of the Year candidate against SYN's Light Heavyweight champion Randy Randleman.

Kahn’s most recent appearance took place at Combate 174 when he TKO'd Larry Willians  — a fight that came together on short notice after camps disagreed if the fight round be 3 or 5 rounds. Ultimately both came to terms much to the fan's appreciation.

Taneyev is ready to redeem himself after his last outing and deems Kahn the "the perfect punching bag" to get back into the win column. "He's a shell of himself. I will break him."

Valentin Taneyev on C172 loss to Randy Randleman: ‘I made a lot of stupid decisions’

After defending his title against "Hands of Shiva" Mantak Garuda (41-14-1) at C169, Taneyev fought Randy Randleman (32-11-0) in a super fight at C172, but came away from it disappointed in his performance.

Taneyev faced SYN Light Heavyweight champion Randy Randleman in the main event of C172, losing by way of technical knockout in the 5th round. The bout was widely lauded by the MMA community for the excitement it delivered and ended up earning Fight of the Night honors, but for Taneyev, it was a tough pill to swallow because he believes he didn’t perform well.

“I made bulls*** fight. I [could have] worked more,” Taneyev said this week to the Tycoon Times. “I don’t like this fight. I made a lot of stupid decisions. A lot of stupid decisions. I played his game. I go in and fight, like just want to make everything crazy.”

Taneyev continued to explain his game plan thoroughly.

“Game plan was try to use I.Q., like how he did. He did it perfect. He just played. He just tried to play and I tried to fight crazy. I knock him down, had him where I wanted ... Maybe I was excited in the moment, maybe I’m getting old and stupid.”

The bout was a back-and-forth affair with Randleman taking over late in the 5th to earn the TKO win. But it was a competitive contest back and forth, with both fighters hurting each other throughout the fight.

“No. I’m a professional fighter,” Taneyev said. “I know when I win and when I’ve lost,” said. “Last round was too much. The stoppage wasn't early. Ate too [many] punches to face.

But though he’s disappointed with his performance, it’s not all bad for “The Hand Grenade.”

Taneyev noted that he and Randleman did still deliver the “fireworks” they had promised beforehand, and given the quality of the fight, he’s hopeful that his stock won’t take much of a hit, keeping him in the P4P rankings at the light heavyweight division.

“I’m always [putting] too much pressure for myself when I lose,” Taneyev said. “If this loss doesn’t [drop me] down so much, and I’m still a few fights from the P4P spot, I’m happy for this. I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing. I’m already back in the gym working on my next fight.”

As for a return, he's booked to face off against a familiar face in future Combate Hall of Famer, Mohammed Kahn (31-9-1). Taneyev noted that he isn’t facing any serious injuries after the bout, so he’s ready to return to the cage.

“I think fighting more is good,” Taneyev said. “Five, six fights is good. I still don’t when [to retire]. I don’t think about it. I just came home, this is my second day, I’m still jet-lagged. Train, train, sleep, repeat, until fight.”

BLANK ON HGH? | BLANK DEFENDS TITLE AGAINST LINE | NEW GEN
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Billy BlankMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Gothic Line

Billy "Bulldozer" Blank (17-7-0) captured the Combate Heavyweight championship with a huge knockout of former champ Barron White (25-9-1) at C172: Taneyev vs Randleman.

Blank is a freak of nature, standing over seven feet tall and found his range early, dropping an overzealous champion with two big right hands before ending it with a third that put White away in 1:11 of the first round.

Billy Blank has trained at CHECMATE PRIME MMA his entire career. He's riding a 5-fight win streak, finishing every opponent he's faced, with 4 of those finishes coming in the first round. He's emerged as the #2 Heavyweight in the world after his latest victory.

One question looming that has critics concerned is due to Blank's size and speed border lining supernatural. Accusations of steroid usage, HGH, and EPO have been thrown at the newly crowned Combate Heavyweight champion his entire career, since he made his professional MMA debut at 18 years old.

Blank has shown resilience his entire career and remains mum on the programs he attended as a youth, focusing on fighting and cracking skulls. He's scheduled to defend his Combate Heavyweight championship against the Italian Stallion Gerry "Mandering" Line (25-10-0), a part-time model and full-time knockout artist currently fighting out of ubergym in St. Petersburg.

Line is coming off a knockout heard around the world when he superman punched former SYN Heavyweight champion "Overthrower" Yago Steve (29-11-0) into oblivion 1:36 into the 2nd round of their fight. The biggest victory of his career earned him a title shot against the newly crowned champion.

Gerry "Mandering" Line is a former OFK champion that has 23 knockouts on his resume and may be the hardest hitter Blank has ever faced in his career, but will Line's knockout power be enough to overcome the elite boxing of the juiced up British boxer? We'll find out when they face off at C180: Blank vs Line.

Kjetil Olsen

Taking time out of his international holiday to speak to the press, former Combate HW Champion and CK's favourite award of the night target, Kjetil Olsen confirmed he would do his best to be ringside for C180: Blank vs Line

"Yes, as of right now, I plan on being ringside at this fight. It's being held in Tokyo which is where my gym is situated, so schedule permitting, I plan on attending."

When asked about why he's so keen to keep tabs on his former org:

"Why not? Like I said, it's convenient for me and the situation might change but I'm always keen to pay attention to what's happening with other top ranked HWs in the world. I have a fight history with Gothic Line. As you know he just couldn't quite connect and I sent him to the shadows with a KON winning uppercut. I still think he's a good measuring stick to see where this Billy Blank really is.

Also, my teammate Kronos Doomsday is fighting on this card and I'm keen to cheer him on. He's literally our team's wrestling and BJJ coach, but good on him for stepping up in the big leagues and still competing in MMA. His win over the former BB champion Anubis was an incredible performance and he goes into his next fight as a massive underdog once again."

Thoughts on the HW champ Billy Blank?

"Like I said, I'm interested in all the top HWs in the world and Billy is no different, especially since he's the current #2 rank HW. He's come out of nowhere and perhaps a bit of a surprise packet. I'm not particularly impressed by his strength of schedule so far, but admittedly you can only beat what's in front of you and he's done well the last few fights. His loss against Okongwu really sticks out to me because Line has more recently beaten him into a bloody pulp and I also have a KON winning finish against him.

I will note however, that these allegations of his potential drug use are laughable. We are one of very few people in the world who share the same height, but that's where our build and physical abilities cease to be similar. If what he's shown so far is him on the horsemeat, he's going to have to quadruple his dosage by the time he fights some real big dogs."

TANEYEV DETHRONED | OCHOA BRINGS BELT BACK TO MEXICO | WILL WE SEE A REMATCH?
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Valentin TaneyevMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Anthony Ochoa

Anthony "El Cazador" Ochoa (22-10-0) defeats Valentin "The Hand Grenade" Taneyev (34-16-1) by TKO in the 3rd round to capture the Light Heavyweight championship.

Ochoa entered this fight as a massive underdog to the former champion, and you could see the respect these two fighters had for each other in the first round after a tentative start. It appeared to be a feeling out process with both fighters clearly respecting the other man's firepower.

Both fighters appeared to be throwing everything they had in their shots, trying to score a highlight reel finish, and by the 2nd round they both were breathing pretty heavily. It seemed like Taneyev was separating himself from the challenger until Ochoa summoned his inner Mexican warrior and landed a big right hand that sent the champ crashing to the floor. Ochoa waved the bloodied up champ to his feet which drew cheers from the sold out arena.

From there on out, it seemed like Ochoa had found his range with that right hand. Ochoa came out in the 3rd and proved it by knocking him down again, waving him up much to the delight of the crowd, and finishing the job off with an overhand right that had Taneyev in a world of trouble. Ochoa pounded away on his opponent until the ref had to jump in to save him, and with that, Anthony Ochoa was officially the new Light Heavyweight champion.

Fans and pundits are already clamoring for an instant rematch for the Russian, citing his impressive title run and historic accomplishments inside the Combate cage. Rumors have it that Ochoa has already signed the dotted line if Valentin indeed does wish to run it back.

BLANK KO'S GRANITE | VYING FOR TITLE | EARNS KOTN
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Billy BlankMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Jimmy Granite

After winning his Combate debut in style by knocking out the Corona Virus, Jimmy "Gimmie" Granite (17-9-0) was gaining traction towards a heavyweight title shot. That all came to a screeching halt when he ran into the giant fists of former Heavyweight champ, Billy "Buldozer" Blank (18-8-0).

Billy Blank, the seven-foot-tall juggernaut, KO'd Jimmy Granite in 1:26 in the first round with a big uppercut and a massive right hand to get back into the win column after losing his title to Gerry "Mandering" Line (who would go on to lose it to surging Heavyweight contender Max Bonaparte).

The product of CHECMATE PRIME MMA told reporters at the post-fight press conference that he wants to get back into title contention and redeem his losses. With his 2nd KOTN performance one would certainly have to think that Blank's name is back in the mix as a contender in the Heavyweight division.

HEAVYWEIGHT SHOWDOWN | BONAPARTE DEFENDS TITLE VS ODENSE HW CHAMP
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Maximilian BonaparteMixed Martial Arts Fighter - Billy Cubbedge

Maximilian "The Lion" Bonaparte (19-5-0) puts the Heavyweight title on the line against Billy "The Zombie" Cubbedge (18-5-0) at C191 on May 14th.

After exploding on the scene with 3 consecutive victories under the Combate banner, Bonaparte won the Combate Heavyweight championship in style back at C187 when he TKO'd Gerry "Mandering" Line in 2:07 of the very first round, improving his flawless Combate resume to 4-0 with 3 knockouts.

The challenger is one of the most recognized Heavyweights in the game. The Polish Odense Heavyweight champion Billy Cubbedge is ready to make his Combate debut after kneeing his last opponent into oblivion at OFK 293. Fans have been highly anticipating the debut of Cubbedge ever since he signed a non-exclusive deal with the organization.

When fire meets fire, one can all but guarantee an explosive knockout is incoming, and fight fans are jizzing their pants in anticipation. Who will emerge victorious?

COMBATE LANDS TOP HEAVYWEIGHT | KERSIKOV READY FOR WAR
Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Andrei Kersikov

Andrei Kersikov (15-4-0) exploded onto the Heavyweight scene when he won the WVT title against Tali Ihantala with a dramatic spinning back fist KO back at WVT 80. He followed it up with a huge knockout win over long-time GAMMA Heavyweight champion Karim Johnson. He was widely regarded as the 2nd best heavyweight on the planet not named Kilo Maluga.

Controversy emerged when rumors of him pissing hot for performance enhancing drugs surfaced. He'd find himself on the free agent market after WVT and DMMA separated themselves from the Ukrainian heavyweight. Shortly after Kersikov's name would be linked to Kjetil Olsen after Olsen dethroned Kilo Maluga for the SYN Heavyweight championship. Apparently however, no orgs would sanction the bout in fear for Olsen's safety.

After the rumors of a Olsen-Kersikov showdown were squashed by Dana Black and the commie overlords at SYN, Kersikov signed an exclusive deal with the Combate organization which nearly broke the internet. Fans can't wait to see who Kersikov faces next. Most assume he'll skip the line of contenders and get an instant title shot against the winner of Bonaparte/Cubbedge. Combate brass has yet to confirm or deny these reports.
