It might not be a lost cause yet. It looks like JT Rolli's manager lost VIP for a short time and was forced to release fighters. He might still pick Rolli back up... unlikely, but he might.

It does look like that but JB90 hasn't said anything to either Master Tessin or me so I'm not hopeful.

Shame really as Rolli had just gotten over injury

I asked him in Buzz and he said basically sorry I fucked up.

Yeah it don't look good and he has rolled a bunch of new fighters recently so looks like we have our first dropout.

I do somewhat get it as he was really unlucky with the injuries and probably wouldn't have qualified further but still, it was only a few more fights to go and would have just been a cool thing to do to help the tournament so no one is getting free wins like they will now.

The worst part though was not even having the decency to say anything to anyone. Wouldn't have taken much to give a heads up but oh well. What's done is done.

Yeah these are the kind of managers that we gotta be careful allowing into future tournaments.

The weekly part of the tournament makes it very very clear that you are committing to probably lose a whole bunch of times if injured badly. It is no surprise to anyone and honestly what makes it so much fun about it/ dangerous. These tournaments is where we really see who the best managers are in the game. Anyone can be a so called "top" manager by handpicking their fights and joining ID restricted orgs with a bunch of good hiddens 20 year old projects.

The current #1 ranked manager in the game did this exact same thing and dropped his fighter after going 0-2 in the LOL tourney. He was looking at possibly some 10+ loses and just couldn't handle it.

I was just mentioning it in the other thread how much I hate some of the recent changes. Like nerfing morale + energy lost when a manager forgets to cancel auto-flight.

In this case, Amadeo's opponent who had still recovering morale jumps on a 12 hour plane from NYC to Hawaii and loses almost no Morale and only 10% energy. To make matters more laughable he recovered 5% energy between his cab drive from the airport to the cage.

Laughable.

It was never fun forgetting about canceling a flight but the way it's been made it gives almost no penalties.

In a realistic scenario Headmuth would have no energy to pull off that sub in the 2nd round after Camara survived his 1st round sub attacks.

I do like Tessin though so I'm happy for him but losing this fight like this really really sucks.

I really appreciate everyone sticking it out even with all the injuries people have been getting. I know it sucks for manager records but it really does help keep the integrity of the tournament going if fighters aren't getting free weeks to train while others are. I have JT Rolli on my free agent pick ups so hopefully I get him and can sign him up to his death fight next week.

I'm definitely learning some things just by seeing all this play out. I've had a little success in creation tournaments and learnt the value of picking "fast learner" early on. Seeing all of this play out makes me think that a little more strategic hidden picking might also be valuable. "Never gets injured" and "Doesn't cut easily" might have more of a place in a tournament like this where fights are weekly? I don't know though. Maybe the trade off between those and the cookie cutter hidden's isn't worth it?

Definitely not enjoying all the injuries as they are adding an extra element of luck that I feel like we could do without but not much can be done now. Have some ideas about how to go about that next time but we'll see.

Anyway, thanks again all. Especially those that won't be qualifying further. I guess we are quite lucky in that most groups are quite competitive and all but a few are still in the running for a spot in the next round.

Group A

Weekly Round Up – Opening Round 1.5

(16th Feb 2019)

Regis Petrozuli v Serj Khak

(Petrozuli def. Khak by Sub, 02:24 Rd 1)

Regis Petrozulli managed to bounce back after suffering his first loss of the tournament last week with a nice submission win over Serj Khak. Both fighters were coming into the fight with injuries so it was interesting to see what kind of performance they would be able to put forward. Petrozulli managed to get the early take down and a quick submission with little resistance from Khak

The win sees Petrozulli keep his second place spot and in all likelihood secured him a spot in the next phase of the tournament. He is also some four points clear of his closest rival meaning that moving on into the next round as a seeded fighter is well within reach. He next faces Diego Columbo who is in a dogfight to finish in a qualifying position but who will be coming in with both an injury and a cut.

For Serj Khak, he remains at the bottom of the Group A standings although isn’t quite eliminated yet. He would of course need to win both of his remaining fights and have results go his way elsewhere in the group to move on. He next faces a very tough Michael Dobson who is currently riding a three fight win streak. The good news for Khak is that he will be injury free going into that one and able to give it his best effort

Diego Columbo v Okino Naruhiko

(Naruhiko def. Columbo by TKO, 02:28 Rd 1)

Group A leader Okino Naruhiko overcame a slight injury to continue his impressive run of victories. He defeated a somewhat inconsistent Diego Columbo who despite looking good on the feet against Naruhko early, was unable to stop the take down and the brutally effective ground and pound assault from his opponent.

Okino Naruhiko is now guaranteed a place in the next round and the only question is, will he be able to keep his number one spot in the group and go through as the number one seed. He next faces Mongali Samson who though on a terrible run of losses currently is also still in the running for a qualifying spot making him a potentially dangerous opponent. Both fighters will be fit and ready to go.

For Diego Columbo things are about to get messy. He maintains his fourth spot in the group but is separated by time only and is joint with two other tough fighters. Every little point will count from here on out but things won’t be easy as he next faces second placed Regis Petrozulli and will be in pretty rough shape for the showdown

Mongali Samson v Patrick O'Phoenix

(O'Phoenix def. Samson by Sub, 00:33 Rd 3)

Early predicted group A favourite Patrick O’Phoenix moved a step closer to a qualifying spot after a poor run of luck and form saw him on a three fight losing streak. He defeated a very game Mongali Samson by third round submission which will have no doubt been very energy consuming for both fighters. Luckily, neither sustained any significant damage and will be fit and healthy for their next fights.

O’Phoenix moves up from seventh into sixth and is joint on points with two other fighters and separated only by time. He next faces Harry Tournament of whom is one of the fighters he is tied with. The fight will be a classic grappler versus striker match up and both fighters are expected to be at their best

For Samson, he faces an uphill battle to qualify and whilst he would likely need a little luck elsewhere in the group, he must first get the results in his final two fights. He will face Okino Naruhiko in his next fight and whilst the odds of victory are against him, it really is a must win fight.

Harry Tournament v Michael Dobson

(Dobson def. Tournament by TKO, 03:10, Rd 1)

Michael Dobson continued his good run of form with a solid TKO victory over striker Harry Tournament. Tournament was expected to be the much better fighter from the outside but in the brief time the fight did take place there things looked to be very even. Entering the clinch however was a different story and Tournament was no match for the wonderful wrestling of Dobson.

Michael Dobson further bunkers down in the third spot and is currently looking very good for a place in the next round. He next faces bottom placed Serj Khak and both fighters will be in good shape for that one.

Harry Tournament cuts short a small streak of two wins and looks set for a scrappy finish in the qualifying race over the next couple of weeks. Currently in fifth position, Tournament is joint on points and separated by time. He faces a tough match up against one of those rivals in first seed Patrick O’Phoenix and really the key is going to be how Tournament deals with the superior wrestling of his opponent.

Group B

Weekly Round Up – Opening Round 1.5

(16th Feb 2019)

Rick Gallowgate v Jon Bones

(Bones def. Gallowgate by Dec)

A gruelling fight three round war between Rick Gallowgate and Jon Bones saw the latter get his hand raised after the judges made their decisions. Both fighters gave it their all with Gallowgate looking good at range but it was the clinch control from Bones that likely swayed the judges to his side.

A good result for Jon Bones who moves up from sixth into a qualifying spot at fifth. It might be short lived however as he has unfortunately picked up an injury that will not be healed in time for his next fight which is against Group B surprise package Sven Eklund. Eklund, who suffered his first loss of the tournament this weekend, should be fit for the encounter

A bittersweet result for Gallowgate who has struggled so far in this tournament and is still looking for his first win though this performance was easily his best so far and actually moves him off of the bottom of Group B for the first time since getting there. He faces fellow straggler Carlos Junior in the next round of fights and what an important fight this will be for both fighters. With both fighters now having no chance of moving on in the tournament the battle will almost certainly be for the bottom spot and to not end the tournament without a win.

Carlos Junior v Victor Slaughter

(Slaughter def. Junior by KO, 00:19 Rd 1)

Victor Slaughter continues to improve his win streak, of which now stands at three, with a big win over struggling but game Carlos Junior. Junior tried to clinch early but was no doubt surprised by the ferocity and power of unlikely slugger Victor Slaughter who caught him with two massive shots that ended the fight in just under twenty seconds.

Number one seed Victory Slaughter now puts his poor opening start to the tournament firmly behind him and moves up another place into the third spot. He is not quite out of the woods yet however as he finds himself on joint points with Tommy Du Mahss and only a few points separate him from a Thom Tharrier in sixth, of whom he will face in the next round of fights. Both fighters will be in good shape for the fight

For Carlos Junior, he has shown great determination to keep turning up each week despite having suffered some terrible luck with injuries which has effected his performances without question. He drops to the bottom of the group and is now technically eliminated from the tournament. He will however have the chance to redeem himself somewhat as he faces fellow straggler Rick Gallowgate next in a fight for the bottom spot. With both fighters having nothing but pride to fight for, this should be a fantastic battle

Thom Tharrier v Hugues Dupont

(Dupont def. Tharrier by Sub, 01:32 Rd 1)

Hugues Dupont picked up an easy submission victory over up and down striker Thom Tharrier after hitting an early take down in round one.

Win the win here and Sven Eklund slipping up elsewhere, Dupont takes the top spot in Group B and secures a place in the next round. It would be extremely difficult to see him dropping outside of the top two places also meaning that a seeded spot is likely to be his also. He faces a difficult match up in his next fight against forth placed Tommy Du Mahss and both fighters will be at full capacity for that one.

Thom Tharrier drops his second in a row and three places in the group meaning that he is now outside of a qualifying position. With only one point separating him from fifth, it wouldn’t necessarily take a maximum point win to get him back into contention however, he faces an extremely difficult match up next as he takes on top seed Victor Slaughter. Both fighters will be healthy for that.

Tommy Du Mahss v Sven Eklund

(Du Mahss def. Eklund by KO, 04:35 Rd 1)

A spirited performance from Sven Eklund despite nursing an injury wasn’t enough to avoid picking up his first loss of the tournament against hybrid fighter Tommy Du Mahss in this week five round of action. Eklund’s take downs were on point but he was unable to finish the BJJ blue belt on the ground and Du Mahss was able to regain his feet on numerous occasions and picked up the KO victory late in the first round.

It was a much needed result for Du Mahss who maintains a qualifying position at number four currently. He is tied on points however and separated by time with third place Victor Slaughter of whom he is still to face. Next up is group B leader Hugues Dupont of whom presents another extremely difficult match up but Du Mahss has shown what he is capable against wrestlers and with another couple of performances like today, will surely find himself in the next round. Two bad results however could spell disaster.

Though Eklund suffers his first defeat of the tournament, he still looked good and was doing so while injured. He concedes the top spot to Hugues Dupont though it is thought that he is guaranteed a spot in the next round. Whether that is as a seed or not will depend on his final two fights. He faces Jon Bones next and will thankfully be over his injury. Jon Bones however will not be at full health

Group C

Weekly Round Up – Opening Round 1.5

(16th Feb 2019)

Abdufatto Zamanov v Legend Broly

(Zamanov def. Broly by KO, 01:19 Rd 1)

A much needed win for top seed Abdufatto Zamanov over Legend Broly was enough to get him back on track for the next round though the result of the fight once again left him with a pretty significant injury. Zamanov was accurate on the outside and managed to avoid taking any damage in the clinch where Broly threw everything at him from all angles. He managed to knock Broly senseless with a tight combination and the bout ended shortly after around the one minute twenty mark.

A big jump for Zamanov who moved up from seventh in the fourth spot though he is tied on points with two other fighters and separated by time. Unfortunately for Zamanov, injury proneness has been the big issue in his tournament campaign so far and once again he will head into battle in less than top condition. He faces a tough time against BJJ specialist Bishop Heahmund who will himself be ready and raring to go. With so much riding on these final two fights it truly is devastating for Zamanov to find himself injured after only just getting over his last.

For Legend Broly, he drops down a spot into sixth though is far from out of the race right now. With such a tightly contested middle of the pack, a couple of wins in his final round of fights would almost certainly secure him one of the remaining three qualifying spots left up for grabs. He next faces undefeated Amanda Nunes and though still likely to be a tough fight, he will have the advantage of facing him/her whilst not in optimum condition. Broly is expected to be at full health on the night

Bishop Heahmund v Amadeo Camara

(Heahmund def. Camara by Sub, 01:55 Rd 2)

An important win for Bishop Heahmund tonight against fellow grappler Amadeo Camara and a big boon towards ambitions of a place in the next round. The fight itself was a little lacklustre with neither fighter really managing to get anywhere on the ground. Camara fought off numerous submission attempts from Heahmund and in turn was thwarted when threatening to improve position constantly. In the end it was Heahmund who managed to find a way through the defences of Camara and finished the fight in the second round by submission.

With the win Bishop Heahmund ends his streak of two losses and moves a step closer to the next round. He is by no means guaranteed a place there however and will at least one more good result to really get comfortable. He faces top seed Abdufatto Zamanov in his next fight though Zamanov will be sporting a niggling injury.

Amadeo Camara continues to play a dangerous game with regards to qualifying and the second seed will need to make sure not to drop any more points from this point on. He faces Alf Konrad next who currently sits in the qualifying spot above him at fifth. Victory there will see him leapfrog Konrad and into safety. A must win fight for Camara and both fighters will be fit and healthy for the encounter.

Alf Konrad v Kyle Cruz

(Cruz def. Konrad by TKO, 01:33 Rd 2)

Another win for Kyle Cruz tonight who continues to impress after suffering from a stress related weight issue early on. He battered a determined Alf Konrad on the ground who managed to grit his teeth through the entire first round but was stopped a little after a minute into round two.

Cruz continues to put the pressure on group leader Amanda Nunes for the top spot but most importantly looks to have secured himself a spot in the next round. He will face JT Rolli in the next round though there is some uncertainty in the Rolli camp after his manager filed for bankruptcy following some bad investments into retro VHS recorders. Apparently he believed them to be the next vinyl.

Alf Konrad drops a spot from fourth to fifth and must now make sure to finish this first round of fights with a couple of good results. He next faces Amadeo Camara where a loss would see him drop out of the qualification race with only one fight to go.

JT Rolli v Amanda Nunes

(Nunes def. Rolli by KO)

A confused and bewildered JT Rolli found himself utterly alone against group killer Amanda Nunes as his management left him high and dry for this almost inevitable beat down. Rolli tried to grapple with the KO hungry Nunes but was out of luck as Nunes battered him on the outside and then even more so in the clinch winning the fight in under two minutes.

The win made it five out of five for Nunes and cemented it’s place in the next round of the tournament. Unfortunately Nunes suffered a fairly large injury and will not be fully fit for the next fight against Legend Broly meaning that it’s undefeated streak is under threat as well as the top spot in Group C that he has held from the start.

For JT Rolli, his tournament ends here and whether he will even fight again is debatable unless he can find alternative management before the start of next week. Regardless however, he finds himself once again injured and cut and should he face Kyle Cruz next week, it would likely be an almost impossible feat to get any kind of result

Group D

Weekly Round Up – Opening Round 1.5

(16th Feb 2019)

Marcus St Stone v Alan Odrobny

(Odrobny def. St Stone by TKO, 04:48 Rd 1)

Another big result for unfancied brawler Alan Odrobny who this time pick up a late TKO victory over third seed Marcus St Stone. The bulk of the fight was spent inside the clinch where St Stone had little in the way of an answer to Odrobny’s shots.

With the win Odrobny moves up into the second spot and is looking like a solid bet for a place in the next round. Group D is perhaps one of the most competitive groups out of the four with not much separating anyone other than the bottom place fighter. Odrobny faces Bubba Sparxxx in the next fight and Sparxxx is still without a win going into week six and will also be sporting a fairly significant injury.

Marcus St Stone drops just outside of the qualifying spots with this loss, of which also marks his second in a row. He will now need some good results in his final couple of fights though the going will be tough as he faces first placed Daniel Bradshaw next. Both fighters will be at their best for that however.

Daniel Bradshaw v Heitor Machado

(Bradshaw def. Machado by TKO, 00:21 Rd 1)

Daniel Bradshaw took the top spot from Heitor Machado with a display inside the clinch to end the fight in little over twenty seconds. Machado will no doubt be disappointing with himself after offering nothing in the way of retaliation and conceding first place in such a poor manner.

The win marked Bradshaw’s third in a row though whilst he is good form currently, he will still need at least another win to absolutely guarantee a place in the next round. He faces Marcus St Stone next and St Stone will be a tricky opponent made all the more challenging as he fights for a spot in the next round himself.

After a solid start to the tournament, Machado has started to slip into some inconsistent form which threatens to undermine his earlier results. He drops down from first to third and further slip ups could see him miss out on qualification to the next round altogether. He will meet Johannes Boe next week and Boe will be on his own mission to secure a qualifying spot. Both fighters are expected to be fully healed and rested come the day.

Johannes Boe v Roar Dinosuar Jr

(Dinosuar Jr def. Boe by Sub, 00:47 Rd 1)

Roar Dinosuar Jr made sure of no mistakes in this must win match up against Johannes Boe. Managing to get the fight to the floor quickly, Dinosaur Jr took full advantage of Boe’s lack of grappling and cut through his submission defences in under a minute of the first round.

It was an absolute must win for the number one seed who’s qualification chances rest precariously in the balance. Dinosaur Jr still remains outside of a spot in the next round but the win means that he stays in the game though he will need to make a strong finish going into the final couple of weeks of this opening round of group fights. He will face Prince Thick next and Thick will no doubt prove to be a very tough customer indeed.

Johannes Boe is a little bit more comfortable at this point and remains in a qualification position despite the loss here tonight. He too will need to make sure of a strong final two weeks however as not much separates him from sixth spot and crashing out of the tournament. He faces Heitor Machado next and both fighters will be fully fit for that showdown.

Prince Thick v Bubba Sparxxx

(Thick def. Sparxxx by KO. 00:20 Rd 1)

A big KO victory for Prince Thick over a struggling Bubba Sparxxx tonight and a short nights work for the striker. Sparxxx threw a couple of mistimed shots on the feet that were punished by Thick who found the KO blow just twenty seconds into the fight

The victory meant that Prince Thick was able to move back up into a qualifying spot at number four and go into the final couple of weeks of this group stage feeling only slightly less pressure. He will still need at least one more good result to secure a spot in the next round and that won’t come easy as he faces grappler Dinosuar Jr next week. Both fighters are expected to be fit for that encounter.

For Bubba Sparxxx, his tournament is now firmly over and all he can really do from here is to try and end things with a bang and pick up his first win. He faces Alan Odrobny in his next fight and will be carrying an injury into that one making things all the more difficult.

I just want to say that I absolutely love the post-fight write-ups...and actually very much look forward to them! For that reason alone, I'd definitely do these again with you. But beyond that, it's well run and I'm enjoying it despite the losses and injuries. Columbo has already out-performed his initial review and that makes me happy as well. He's also shown some toughness and bounced back at times, which has been exciting. I'm glad more people haven't dropped out to date, that shows some good intestinal fortitude so to speak, and I appreciate that too.

Keep on man, it's good.
