You know, a friend of mine at work has a line he likes to use when shit's getting crazy and it's really out of his hands or he doesn't have any responsibility for it..."Not my circus, not my monkeys!"  I'm sitting here laughing and told Mrs. Rumpler about the shots fired and collateral damage flying left and right and she goes, "This is your circus, and those are your monkeys!"  Hahahahahha!  😅🤣

SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW - MAIN CARD

Sucker Punch Pro Series 115

Donkey and I are back folks and here we go finishing off the Main Card for this evening's fun!  We hope you enjoy and are as pumped as we are!  So let's jump right into these final five fights...YUH!!!

***********************

Main Card Bout #1: Heavyweights

Herleifr Conchobhar (9-8-0) v Anton Meshkov (9-8-0)

463b238339f9505f68c4a5a8c2e46313.png

Alright folks, Donkey and I are back this morning and I can’t wait to get into the Main Card action here!  We’ll start things off as we look at our only “big boy” contribution to the card this evening and yes, this should be a great one Donkey!  These two aren’t quite in position to vie for a championship or Top Contender status quite yet but with a few wins tacked on who knows!  What they are set up for is a heck of a battle as both have equivalent skills, with perhaps Meshkov having the sole advantage in Muay Thai and wrestling.

So the question for us here is…will Meshkov move to the clinch tonight given those two advantages?  He’s coming off two losses and, despite the two wins prior to that, is 2-4 over his last six.  You’d think that he and his team, led by Kid Sunshine, will be looking to do whatever it takes and make any necessary adjustments to get the ‘W’ here and turn things around!  When he defeated Mills a couple months back, he did well in the clinch despite not being the one to take it there.  The same could be said for the short period of time spent in the clinch against Bjoergen, but again, getting into the clinch wasn’t by his doing.  Meshkov prefers to stand and box almost exclusively when given the choice.  Donkey, I think I’d change that up this evening if it were me and I had this advantage coming in!

Conchobhar will be hoping that Meshkov completely ignores my take on things and, “Comes at me bro!”  He, like Meshkov, tends to prefer to stand and throw hands and heavy ones at that!  Almost all of his losses have come via decision, he’s never been submitted and he’s only been stopped twice outside that.  So a throwing of hands is quite ok with this man, he and his team likely are good with their chances in that scenario!

Donkey’s Pick: Conchobhar via TKO (Strikes)

Interesting note here...Conchobhar’s last loss was to Banana Republic via decision back in early December.  And you know how that happened?  With Republic using the clinch to control the action, gain the advantage and get the points he needed with the judges.  So Hare’s take on this is good…it’s probably Conchobhar’s contest to win unless Meshkov changes things up or gets that one powerful, lucky shot in to stop it on the feet.  Will he change tactics for this evening?  I don’t think so.

Main Card Bout #2: Middleweights

Papi Tantor (16-5-1) v Krsto Vujić (16-11-1)

fd39fe8266c628e3dfbd4b9e9dd8410a.png

Ok folks, Donkey already knows this, but I’ve been amped up for this fight ever since I managed to convince Jorma Oltsu to have his boy Tantor come over to Sucker Punch for this one fight deal to take on Krsto!  And yes, I’m avoiding having to type the extra little dashy thing for Krsto’s last name, fight me!  These are two elite level fighters in the Middlweight division who have come into Sucker Punch as part of the “unrestricted, unrestrained!” movement and the way Krsto’s been looking we could be getting a preview of a Top Contender and possible future champion here at SPPS come April when things fully open up.

When we signed on Tantor we hadn’t built up the unrestricted presence in the Middleweight division enough yet to be able to reliably offer him worthwhile fights on a longer contract.  Unfortunately, that is still the case in a division that’s lagging behind most of the others in terms of unrestricted influx.  I’m working to actively rectify that situation…because obviously I hope to entice Tantor into a longer contract and be able to offer that to him if I can ensure he’ll have good fights.  In the meantime, he brings an outstanding challenge to the table for Krsto, despite having lost four of his last five fights.  Those fighters were at the highest level in SYN and included a title shot, so you know he was fighting the best of the best over there!  He’s also a former champion with three different promotions…WPFC, CFC and SYN!  His run at WPFC was especially impressive as he won and held the belt over a seven fight stretch!  Most of his losses were more recent and we should note here that they came at a weight class up, at Light Heavyweight.  Clearly that just doesn’t suit him and he returns here to his natural weight class where he’s had all his success previously!

Krsto comes off his Sucker Punch debut win last month where he overcame Patrick Thomas in three long rounds to get the decision.  With that win he paired them up as he carried a win over Mirage in with him from CFC prior to joining SPPS here.  He had three losses prior to that stretching from SFL to CFC but it’s our belief that this man is more represented by the 4-0-1 run he’s put together prior to that at SFL and we expect he’s going to continue to be an aggressive challenger going forward in the Middleweight division here!

Donkey’s Pick: Tantor via Unanimous Decision

Vujić is almost exclusively a boxer although it should be noted that he tends to like to go for takedowns.  Now, the thing is, he never seems to do a lot with it once he gets the takedown. So that comes away looking like wasted energy in the process.  Tantor is much more diverse on the feet and will bring a heavy kickboxing component to the cage tonight.  As a former champ, it’s impossible to overlook him as a real challenge here.  And that’s why I’m making the pick the way I am!

***********************

Main Card Bout #3:  Lightweights

Pablo Itzpapalotltotec (14-6-0) v Ziggy Ozbourne (9-4-1)

ae36bfd99b2adbe9c472aa694154dbfe.png

Halfway through the Main Card and one step away from the Main Events and we prepare to be delighted with some top-tier Lightweight action the rest of the way out tonight!  Starting out this final trio of Lightweight bouts will be Ozbourne and Pablo…ah hell, you know I can’t say it, so why are you even waiting for me to try?  Sadistic bastards!

Ozbourne will have a very, very slight advantage wrestling this evening as well as a bit more of an edge in Muay Thai.  He’s going to give up the advantage if the fight gets to the ground though as despite having a brown belt Pablo tops him with a black belt in Jiu Jitsu. Ozbourne has elite boxing and Muay Thai which means there’s absolutely no reason to think he’ll do anything except try to capitalize on that this evening!  A former champ from his BBFC days, he found it difficult to defend the title and had it pass to Death Minister just a fight later in the first defense.  He’s also had a look at the gold here at Sucker Punch back in October when he took on Frankie Logan in Logan’s last defense at Lightweight before his Featherweight walkabout, but fell short in that bid to snag the championship when Logan finished it close to the end of the second round.  Consistency and the ability to get past the very top of the ladder has been Ozbourne’s struggle over the past year but he could turn that all around here with a win over Pablo, who is poised to make a run at Top Contender if he comes out on top against Ozbourne.

Pablo will be motivated this evening!  So Ozbourne will definitely have his work cut out for him!  Pablo came into Sucker Punch and started out a bit shaky, taking losses to both Furioto via submission and then Yip Man lii after it went to the judges.  Since then he’s put it all together with a trio of victories over my own Revorg, Tonon and then Kongsangchai.  The win over Revorg was especially surprising, not due to the victory, but due to the method as he pulled off a submission that our camp wasn’t expecting!  He had a submission earlier in his career but that rabbit still wasn’t expected to come out of the hat.  All of that puts him in position where a win here over a major competitor sets him up to claim a Top Contender battle with a potential Title Shot on the line.  These are the opportunities you work for and you can’t just let them slip by!

Donkey’s Pick: Itzpapalotltotec via Split Decision

Itzpapalotltotec’s apparent ground skills bring a whole new level of challenge to the fight tonight for Ozbourne as Pablo has shown he can box, he can clinch up…very effectively I might add…or, he can take you to the ground and possibly submit your ass!  My guess is he’ll focus on the latter two approaches there and avoid trading shots with Ozbourne this evening.  Ozbourne will be head-hunting early and often so if Itzpapalotltotec can’t get this fight where he wants it he could find himself in a world of hurt!

Co-Main Event:

Featured Lightweight Bout

Yip Man Iii (14-4-0) v Damian Tonon (13-9-0)

3982558e7693d1e9ab46a158ceb141d0.png

Our Co-Main Event won’t have immediate impact on the title situation in the Lightweight division but it is a highly hyped fight between fan favorites who bring a ton of energy to the cage!  And it’s sure to be an exceptional battle that will leave the fans satisfied yet hungry for the Main Event of the evening!

Donkey, “Snake” will be heading into the cage this evening wearing his “Straight Outta Bad Lands” gear which immediately gives him the persona of a heal…but that doesn’t keep him from being a fan favorite as we said as the fans respond to that in a big way here in an org called “Sucker Punch” and that prides itself on cheap shots!  He’s got a black belt that’ll use to accessorize all that black garb and he certainly knows how to use it with his last three wins all being via submission. Hell, if you go back further, his last six! However, his weak link seems to be those who can fend off the submissions as he tends to fall to decisions when the opponent can nullify his Jiu Jitsu game and push it to the judges.

That’s where the advantage may lie with Man lii tonight.  He has sensational wrestling and a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu but the striking to go with it.  He lost to Red Crow on Christmas Eve in a bid for a title shot and it should be noted that he overcame both Furioto and my own Revorg previously, both better than decent ground specialists.  He could make this a rough, rough go for Tonon tonight if Tonon is able to get it to the ground.  Man lii can finish this thing via Strikes…usually kickboxing but he can clinch up as well…or even score a decision if it gets that far.  He’s definitely the favorite to be the one scoring point this evening but he’ll just have to focus on not getting caught on the ground!

Donkey’s Pick: Man lii via TKO (Strikes)

An excellent take on things there by Hare!  Nuff said, this is your submission artist versus striker match up, that much is clear!  The man who dictates where the fight takes place likely wins here, but without a finish on the ground, Tonon could be at the disadvantage in the long run.  For that reason, I have to go with what I see as the better odds, so it’s a pick for Man lii from me tonight!

***********************

Main Event:

Lightweight Championship Bout

Frankie Logan (13-4-1) v Evan Duvernay (16-1-0)

631735be621ea5a9b048e52636027630.png

Here we go with the Main Event that has been directly or indirectly the cause of a bunch of chatter on social media lately!  Logan returns to defend his crown after a couple fights at Featherweight and the losses in those two fights have left some thinking that there’s blood in the water!  But those fights were at Featherweight and until somebody can prove otherwise, Frankie remains the king here at Lightweight!

Duvernay and his management team, led by Andy Down, believe they are the ones who will unseat the champ!  And that is the ultimate goal tonight and what they’ve been focused and preparing for all month leading up to SPPS 115!  With only a single loss on his outstanding resume…one that lost the title for him at CMMA but which he regained again two months later…Duvernay barely comprehends the words “quit”, “lose” or “fail”!  He’s taken out two of the best in the division since joining Sucker Punch in December with wins over Cobain and Guy River…now his sights are set squarely upon the best…and the belt!

Logan and his team clearly just, well, I quote, “We dinna give a fook!”  They’re not falling into the back and forth nonsense as they stay laser focused on the goal…which is reasserting his dominance over the Lightweight division and putting everybody on notice that there is NO WEAKNESS to be found here! But until he faces and succeeds in his defense against Duvernay after the walkabout, there will be questions that remain, clearly.  He can shut the door on all of those questions tonight with a defining performance that reminds everybody why he is the best the division has ever seen.

Donkey’s Pick:  Logan via Unanimous Decision

Logan has proven over and over that he can get it done, and get it done in any way necessary.  Take it the distance?  Check.  Go to the ground and work the submission?  Check.  Kickbox?  Check.  Box or clinch?  Yep…check. Duvernay likely brings the toughest challenge that Logan has seen as he very much can push the fight to the judges while being uber aggressive on the feet.  And that’s saying a lot given the challenges Logan has already faced in his career!  Ultimate fight that we all want to see tonight?  CHECK!  I’ll put my hat in the corner with the champ, especially as he defends here about as close to home as you can get…but this one will work itself out and your bet is as good as mine!  And interesting side note here…I have it on good authority that Jyrki Sukulaku and key members of his team will be in attendance tonight watching this fight VERY closely…and taking some notes!

***********************

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

The London invasion is set to occur at the hands of Sucker Punch and all our crazy, cheap shot loving fans!  We’re only about 3 hours away and I’ve been told the lot is already packed, the tailgating is in full effect and this British crowd has the room temp beer flowing to full effect!  Expect a spectacle this evening folks throughout the arena, in and out of the cage!  It’s going to be madness, the kind we love!

Till then, have fun and don’t forget…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series style!

I have never competed at heavyweight, nor did I ever fight McNasty if that is who you refer to so kindly as parsley boy. His breath smells, I don't come close to him.

Let Duvernay open his mouth and stop speaking on his behalf. Free the muscled beast, don't keep him shackled in your pillow tag team. Unleash the beast, don't hide like a scared little monkey.

SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW

Sucker Punch Pro Series 116

Sucker Punch Pro Series returns to London's Wombley Arena tomorrow for SPPS 116!  I’m Hare Rumpler and I’ll have Donkey “Dan” along for the ride as we take a close look at all of the upcoming action for this big card across the pond!

Are you all ready for some intense action with the likes of Doe vs. Jukassa, Connor vs. River and a huge Welterweight showdown between challenger Leroy Jinx and defending champion Demetrius Jackson in his very first title defense?!?  The mid-range weight classes are featured big at SPPS 116 as it’s a week of crazy British action!  We just finished up SPPS 115 earlier in the week and now we have some great clashes lined up to finish off your weekend folks!

We’ll get the night going with a Light Heavyweight bout between Grigorian and DeCoteau but that’ll be as “heavy” as the action gets…after that we drop down to Featherweight for a fight between Thompson and Kalmisto…from almost one extreme to the other…almost.  Everything else will have a home in between as the remainder of the fights on this card flow back and forth between the Lightweights, Welterweights and Middleweights.

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on a huge intro here and instead we’ll get right into the meat of things! Well, soon we will, right after we get a word from our merchandise and sponsor!

1584375781SWN.jpg

When you think about training your fighters, one of the biggest concerns is keeping them in the gym and actively training, am I right? And you can’t do that if they have to be stopping to recover and rest for sessions here and sessions there! That is why you need to visit our sponsor, Shadow Warrior Nutrition, and specifically grab some of their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q. It is literally the best energy loss reduction supplement money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting! Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

***********************

Donkey and I are taking a quick break here because Oompa, my middle daughter, is bugging me for one of my special turkey and provolone melt sandwiches with sautéed onions, tomato and a tasty avocado spread snuck in there!  How can I deny the kiddo that?!?  So we’ll get that prepped and then be back with some Undercard action!

***********************

Undercard Bout #1: Light Heavyweights

Misak Grigorian (3-1-0) v Caleb DeCoteau (1-0-0)

As I mentioned in the preview, we’ll get things going with our one and only Light Heavyweight battle Donkey!

DeCoteau, despite being 26 years old and being legitimately part of the 355k+ ID range, has only one professional trip to the cage under his belt so far.  Grigorian can’t claim to be much more experienced, with four total fights to his name, but is also younger at 24 years of age despite a slightly lower ID.  What little experience he has as a pro has been impressive though as he carries three wins, two of which occurred here at Sucker Punch.  Unfortunately he comes off a loss against Mike Bard from late December but will be hoping to bounce back here at SPPS 116!  As of this writing, it looks like DeCoteau is down just a bit on both energy and morale but our guess is that he’ll be rested up by fight time if his manager is doing it right.  If not, Grigorian will have a bit of an advantage in this contest.

Over his last three fights, Grigorian has focused on a varied kickboxing attack that featured head shots as the most predominant shot.  DeCoteau’s first and only fight so far was a QFC contest that pit him against a significantly under skilled opponent…so while he came out successful we can’t say just how effective his approach is until he gets into the cage with Grigorian.  We also don’t know if he’ll stick with the same approach, but if he does it’ll be a heavy dose of boxing, not much with the feet.

Donkey’s Pick: Grigorian via Unanimous Decision

Neither fight is much of a ground specialist it would seem although DeCoteau does have a big advantage in Jiu Jitsu between him and Grigorian.  Will he use that though, or will this fight be a boxer versus kickboxer contest as Hare suspects?  I suspect Hare is correct.  And for now, I’m going with the more varied attack and the more experienced fighter till we see more from DeCoteau.

***********************

Undercard Bout #2: Featherweights

Tyson Thompson (9-5-1) v Apophis Kalmisto (4-4-0)

Moving into our second bout of the evening we’ll get a chance to see our only Featherweight pairing scheduled for SPPS 116.  A skinny boy slap fest, as my daughters would say Donkey?  Or maybe something more?  We can’t say yet, but I can tell you that both kids are ready to get in there and get at it!  Fully prepped and ready, I love that!

Kalmisto is coming off a loss to Jake Drake from early January where he fell via submission.  Before that, he had a fantastic 4-1 record going at SPPS and looks to get right back on track here.  He’s a kickboxer who hasn’t bothered with the clinch much over his past few fights but earlier in his run with Sucker Punch showed he could definitely get in there and handle himself while slow dancing with this partner.  Clearly, with his only two losses under the management of Marky Mark, the ground game and specifically submissions are his Achilles heel.  That likely won’t be an issue in this one as he has the Jiu Jitsu advantage and Thompson isn’t known as a submission artist.

Thompson dropped one early via submission to Destin Craven after joining us at Sucker Punch but bounced back in a big way to go on a 3-0-1 run that earned him a Top Contender battle with Baptiste.  He came up short against the very talented Baptiste and seems to perhaps have had his confidence shaken as he’s lost to both Drake and then a rematch to Craven after that.  With three losses in a row coming into this contest with Kalmisto he very much needs a win.  We’ll expect a technical striking clinic from him in this one I think.  Although, Donkey has another view on it…

Donkey’s Pick: Kalmisto via TKO (Strikes)

It’s likely that Thompson will look to get in there and test his striking against Kalmisto. However, two things of interest are Kalmisto’s difficulties against submissions and the fact that Thompson has pulled off one submission in the past against Nagashima.  Kalmisto, as Hare mentioned, has the better Jiu Jitsu so I’m thinking we may not see Thompson go after him there but it is still a possibility!  That could put a big twist on this one.

***********************

Undercard Bout #3: Middleweights

Bryan Gracie (9-4-0) v Brusse Liee (2-2-0)

Alright Donkey, I think you’ll really enjoy this one as our third fight of the evening gives us our classic striker versus ground specialist matchup!  Liee is the striker here as he’ll have the edge in both areas on the feet while Gracie claims the ground advantage.

Liee joined us three fights ago on a two fight contract where he was brought in to mix things up and give some variety in fights for Souppe and Rodionovich.  He quickly dispatched both and we were eager to sign him on longer to see what he could really do I the Middleweight division as the level of competition was stepped up a bit.  Wellington proved a bigger challenge for him on Christmas Eve as he fell by TKO midway through the second round.  Tonight he’s on the other side of things as he gives Gracie only his second contest here at Sucker Punch.  Given Gracie has a black belt in Jiu Jitsu I wouldn’t make too much of the prior submission that Liee has pulled off…he’ll be well served to try to keep this fight standing to take advantage of his considerably stronger boxing.

As mentioned, Gracie enters the cage against Liee in only his second fight for SPPS.  He has a fairly well established MMA career prior to joining us though and has the experience over Liee by a considerable margin.  His win over Rodionovich early last month as an armbar submission and although he’s been bouncing between wins and losses quite a bit, his last four wins have all been via submission.  As a matter of fact, all but one of his career wins have been submissions!  He’ll want this fight on the ground as much as Liee doesn’t!

Donkey’s Pick: Gracie via Submission (Armbar)

Hare probably saw this pick coming from a mile away as I do tend to go for the ground based submission guys in these types of matchups unless the opponent has a proven record of great defensive ability down there.  Despite Liee having a brown belt I don’t know that we can say that yet but if he can demonstrate some solid defense, or even throw some offense unexpectedly against Gracie on the ground, he can definitely make me a believer!

***********************

Undercard Bout #4: Welterweights

Rahman vs. Linewood II

Abdul Rahman (16-12-0) v Shock Linewood (18-21-1)

One fight away from the end of the Undercard here and we get our first representatives of the unrestricted, unrestrained crowd here at SPPS 116!  Rahman and Linewood are both sub-355k in MMAT registered ID and looking to prove that they can come in and show the youngsters a thing or two!  And come April, they’ll be fully unleashed to do so!  Heck, some of these guys have already been getting challenged and fought by our 355k+ kids and it’s been exciting to watch!

Linewood has all the talent and skills in the world.  On paper.  I mean, he has elite boxing and Muay Thai along with a red belt in Jiu Jitsu. And his wrestling isn’t half bad at remarkable.  But he’s struggled to consistently find a way to translate those skills into wins over his career.  He’s been streaky, three wins here, three losses there, back and forth.  Even his most recent run, including going back three fights at Grunge prior to his fight here at SPPS against Aleksy last month, have been back and forth W, L, W, L.  This fight against Rahman is a chance for him to show that he can put it together and forget about the loss to Aleksy that came late in the third.  Linewood previously fought Rahman back in October at Grunge in a three round battle that went to the judges and ended in a Majority Decision.  That’s close to as tight as you get and I’m sure he’d like a chance to get that one back, a chance he’ll have tonight!

Rahman is just as talented as Linewood with elite boxing and Muay Thai himself but where Linewood has a red belt he has a brown…but Rahman has the better boxing at sensational.  After his win over Linewood at Grunge Rahman proceeded to drop one to Christ Benoit and then he and manager Slobo Dragovic took the show over to CFC for two fights. Both were losses which means Rahman comes into Sucker Punch for his debut with a trio of losses he’d like to unload off his back.  With the last win over Linewood, what better way to jumpstart things again but by repeating that result?

Donkey’s Pick: Rahman via Split Decision

The last time these two met the fight spent a ton of time in the clinch which, with Rahman’s better wrestling combined with both having elite Muay Thai, clearly up the advantage in Rahman’s court.  And that’s the way the tight decision went.  Linewood would be well served to find a way to keep it out of the clinch this time around so that the result goes the other way!  If he can.

***********************

Undercard Bout #5: Middleweights

Leonard Nimoy (13-9-0) v Alexei Rodionovich (7-14-0)

Donkey, another classic matchup between ground and standup strengths as we close out the Undercard here!  Or at least, that would appear to be the case going simply by primary skills!

Rodionovich needs to bring up his morale and energy slightly by the time these two enter the cage tomorrow.  If he doesn’t, he’ll be giving up an advantage that he really, really cannot afford to give up!  And it’s important for him to give it his absolute best go when these two meet because Rodio is currently on an atrocious seven fight losing streak.  Including the last three against guys we brought in specifically to give him new faces and new entry level guys to go against.  So it should be no surprise that a loss here in this one probably means the end of the run for Rodio at SPPS given we’re trying to trim this division a bit.

Nimoy has had some success since arriving at Sucker Punch three fights back in October.  He dropped his first to Hall but has bounced back with solid wins against both Jestoni Hawk and Bruno Souppe.  And, impressively, he did so showing skills in multiple areas, as the win over Hawk was a submission while he KO’d Souppe twenty-nine seconds into the second round!  That said, Rodio has the ground advantage and I expect Nimoy to focus on striking in this contest.

Donkey’s Pick: Nimoy via TKO (Strikes)

Rodionovich has been trying to work a serious clinch game and coming at this thing from a different angle than most with a heavy focus on the dirty stuff…knees, elbows, etc.  The problem?  He just isn’t that successful in landing those shots.  A lot of guys in the MMA game have solid defensive grappling and clinchwork skills that they use effectively on defense. You have to be absolutely elite in these areas to pull off an effective offense and I think that Rodionovich is falling just short on the level of skills he needs.  Not necessarily the skills, but as I said, the level.  He’s not old though, so he has some time to continue improving…but he has to show signs of that improvement starting immediately.

***********************

Ok folks, Donkey and I are going to head off to get a few other things done at this point while we review the Main Card and prepare to bring you an up close look at that action!  That look will come first thing in the morning (East Coast US time) and we’ll see you all very soon!

***********************

Main Card Bout #1: Lightweights

Son Goku (8-9-0) v Akara Kongsangchai (4-14-0)

Alright folks, Donkey and I are back and we’re going to come running fight into the Main Card here with the Lightweight division being represented by Kongsangchai and Goku!  Now, Kongsangchai claimed earlier in the week that Goku was taking a loss in this one and that he would not be held back!

Hmm.  They’re both very evenly matched in skills but the only issue with Kongsangchai’s claim is that he’s lost two in a row…which doesn’t sound that bad…with two wins prior…except that he’d been on a ridiculously bad nine fight losing streak before that!  Needless to say, this is likely Kongsangchai’s last chance to prove he can get it done.  Will he look to his clinchwork and Muay Thai as it did against DeVon to follow through with a ‘W’?

Goku and Kongsangchai have fights against DeVon in common.  Goku made his Sucker Punch debut last month and defeated DeVon to start things on the right foot.  He’s been bouncing back and forth a bit between wins and losses and the trend would say this coming fight is a loss but there’s no doubt he and his team wish to break that trend.  No, destroy it!  Against DeVon, Goku went with the ground and pound approach.  If Kongsangchai does take things into the clinch, he better watch out for Goku’s move to the ground!

Donkey’s Pick: Goku via TKO (Strikes)

Kongsangchai just can’t be trusted to put it together at any given time of late and for that reason I just have to go with Goku as he’s shown at least a bit  more consistency to find a way lately.

***********************

Main Card Bout #2: Welterweights

Ryo Hamada (9-5-0) v Marcus Megnus Maximus Jr Maximus Jr (11-9-0)

Moving right along to a Welterweight matchup between Maximus Jr and Hamada!  Surprisingly, for as long as each has been around SPPS this is their first meeting!  Maximus will have a slight, slight edge in wrestling while Hamada has the Muay Thai advantage but outside that these two are fairly well matched!

Maximus Jr will work a mixed kickboxing attack if he needs to, but typically he’s looking for some ground action with both strikes and submission attempts.  Hamada’s style is eerily familiar and similar!  This could be a fantastic battle on the ground which would make Donkey’s day…or it could turn into a snoozefest that has the fans boo’ing their asses off!  We’ll see!

Both have mixed results of late in their fights and need to find consistency in gathering wins.  Each can take a big step forward tonight by grabbing hold of a ‘W’ here and building upon it!

Donkey’s Pick: Maximus Jr via Split Decision

I’m really hoping for that exciting contest you tried to promise me there Hare!  For both myself and the fans!  Unfortunately, I feel that this may turn into a battle of position and getting key strikes and shots in.  I don’t expect either to fall to a submission unless somebody gets sloppy and careless for a moment.  It’ll be a tight one!

Main Card Bout #3:  Middleweights

John Doe (10-3-0) v Zett Jukassa (10-4-0)

These two are even in almost everything.  Record.  Skills outside Doe’s slight advantage in Jiu Jitsu.  Boxing, Muay Thai and wrestling are about even right across the board.  And both are fully prepped and ready to get at it tonight!  Woot!  And what’s more?  There is absolutely a Title Shot on the line for the winner of this showdown!  Let’s get it!

Jukassa has been chasing that elusive title shot for a bit now.  He almost had it back in October when he faced Matsuda but came up short in a Decision loss.  That was after putting together three wins to start his run here at Sucker Punch after changing management teams and promotions all at the same time. He’s now won two in a row again against Shigemasa and Duarte. A win here over the former champ would solidify his claim to a look at the belt!

Doe won the Middleweight championship back in February a year ago.  He defended successfully twice but had it stripped away by Jacob Parker.  A few mixed result fights later and then P J Jones’ camp has moved forward without him but he was quickly grabbed by Dan Kim’s squad.   A win over Jacob Parker immediately boosted him into Contender status and here we are with this showdown in place for the shot back at the title under a new camp!

Donkey’s Pick: Jukassa via Unanimous Decision

Both fighters can strike, with Jukassa willing to take it to the clinch if necessary as well.  Doe is technically probably the more accomplished striker, but I have a feeling that Jukassa is out to prove something this evening!

Co-Main Event:

Featured Lightweight Bout

Greg Connor (16-2-0) v Guy River (10-6-0)

Our Co-Main Event gives us two fighters who are…and have been for what seems like forever…right on the verge of title shot glory again (again)!  A win here will put them just one more step away with a possible Top Contender battle next!

River has been the challenger for the title twice before at Sucker Punch and is a former Lightweight Champ after defeating Frankie Logan for the title.  Frankie took the belt back two fights later though.  Since then, River has continued to fight some of the best the division has to offer against the likes of Cobain, former Top Contender, and Duvernay, now current champ.

Connor is the former champ from BBFC and Checkmate before that.  He’s had a shot at the gold here at Sucker Punch given his impressive resume and 2-0 start at SPPS, but fell short against Sitsongrit in a Decision loss as per Sitsongrit’s style!  However, he defeated Frankie Logan recently at Featherweight and decided with that win that perhaps it was time to take his show to Lightweight to snag the title officially from Logan.  Unfortunately, he was late to the party as Logan lost the belt earlier this week but that won’t stop Connor from chasing it no matter who holds it.  A win here would establish him in the division…another would likely get him that title shot!

Donkey’s Pick: Connor via TKO (Strikes)

These boys like to get in there and throw down!  Somebody’s getting walloped in this one and I can’t wait to see who!  River has the credentials.  Connor has the credentials.  This is a monster showdown and expect fireworks from those gloves folks!

Main Event:

Welterweight Championship Bout

Demetrius Jackson (12-1-1) v Leroy Jinx (12-3-1)

Our Main Event of the evening folks!  A Welterweight showdown for the Championship as Leroy Jinx, led by P J Jones, heads into the cage to challenge Demetrius Jackson from Andy Down’s camp in their first title defense!  Woooohooo!

P J Jones’ camp came up just short earlier this week against the Down camp when Duvernay freed Frankie Logan of the belt at Lightweight.  The Jones crew would love to turn that around and get one back here at Welterweight to even the score this week!!!

These two are very tight in skills outside Jinx’ brown belt over Jackson’s purple in Jiu Jitsu.  That doesn’t mean we’re going to see a ground battle though folks!  Jinx has huge wins over Juan Christiano and Mental Warrior coming into this fight.  In both he was able to out-strike his opponents with solid kickboxing that featured a heavy dose of the “boxing” portion there, especially shots to the head!

Jackson took the belt from recently returned two-time champ Konrad Wagner last month to start the year off right for the Down camp!  As per normal for Jackson, it was a decision victory that saw him surgically dissect his opponent.  Jackson tends to bring the same approach a Jinx to the table…to some degree...but with a much more evenly distributed attack with both hands and feet.  It should be noted he almost exclusively works the body from the shoulders down with his kicks though, and a lot of that is aimed at the legs to slow down his opponent while he continues to pick apart for points with his boxing.

Donkey’s Pick:  Jackson via Unanimous Decision

Honestly, this is just a shot in the dark here!  Flip a coin, this one should be entertaining for the fans due to the number of strikes we might see regardless of whether there is a finish or not!  But…we can always hope somebody lands the big “BANG!” anyway, right?  Let’s have a great title fight folks!

SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW

Sucker Punch Pro Series 117

Welcome back Sucker Punch fans as we get closer and closer to kicking off SPPS 117 at the Tokyo Bowl later this evening!  As always, I’m Hare Rumpler and I’ll be joined for this relatively briefer preview by my pal Donkey “Dan”.

Now, I won’t sit here and lie to you fine folks…I have become a bit disillusioned with things over the past several weeks.  The move to unrestricted, which in itself seems to be flowing just fine, has brought a whole host of new issues when it comes to dealing with matchmaking and managers, etc.  I am questioning the move at this time and a big swing in direction may be coming.  It takes a special kind of org runner to deal with all the bullshit, quite frankly, and I tip my hat to those fine folks out there who have been doing it in the unrestricted space all this time!

Right now we’re booked through April with cards in the big arenas, so nothing significant would happen prior to then, but come March or so I am considering changing direction and course quite a bit and putting gears in motion at that time.

All that said, we have a great event on tap for this evening over in Tokyo with the Heavyweight title on the line as well as a Main Card that frankly is just outstanding from start to finish!  I mean, when you have the likes of Ainsworth opening up your Main Card, you know it’s a good one!  But the Undercard this evening is NOT to be overlooked in any sort of way either, not by any stretch!  Seriously folks, half the fights, hell, possibly all of them, on the Undercard could nicely fill in the start of the Main Card on any other night!  Yes, I’m that excited for the action this evening!

So, let’s get a quick word from our sponsor and merchandise partner and get to the good stuff!

Undercard Bout #1: Middleweights

Rogerio Duarte (13-13-0) v Luke Glanton (4-13-0)

HR:  Donkey, we start off the evening here with a Middleweight battle between Luke Glanton and Rogerio Duarte.  Now, it’s been no secret that we’ve needed to trim the roster some to get down to closer to 160 fighters max and the Middleweight division is one of the deepest in the organization.  Clearly it’s a prime target for trimming so…

DD:  …so yes, Glanton and Duarte are definitely on thin ice I’d think given they are two of the lowest rated fighters in the division, have been struggling to secure wins and just haven’t been able to elevate themselves in the SPPS ranks.

HR:  And given all that, I just can’t wait to hear what you have to say next and your predictions both for the fight and come tomorrow on this one Donkey…especially given what I’m about to throw out there!  Glanton comes to the cage this evening with his manager, Izzy Fisher, MIA for the good portion of the past month and, consequently, his morale is in the shitter at about half bar.

DD:  Clearly that’s bad news for Glanton.  He’s likely to lose the fight tonight and even if he doesn’t there’s a good chance that you’re going to cut him, bunny boy.  But it really puts all the pressure on Duarte.  He’s only secured one win in his past seven fights.  A loss to an unprepared fighter would scream a thousand words to us and anybody else who hasn’t already come to the conclusion that he’s just not cutting it.  If he loses, he’s likely gone.  Even if he doesn’t…a less than decisive win would be less than convincing as well.

Donkey’s Pick: Duarte via TKO (Strikes)

The one good thing that Duarte has going is that he fought Jukassa, who is now up for a title shot, to a split decision the last time out.  That is a bit impressive and could get him a bit leeway if he shows up well again tonight.  If he comes with a similar approach, solid striking with his kickboxing game, he should be successful here.  Glanton may try to clinch up as he has a tendency to do, but outside that he’ll return the kickboxing approach.  Try to stay out of the clinch, let Glanton gas himself given he doesn’t have the heart to commit himself to this fight as it is and it should be Duarte’s for the taking.

Undercard Bout #2: Heavyweights

Lyle Alzado (30-33-0) v Akuma Manivong (5-6-0)

HR:  Moving along here Donkey we’ve got a big boy matchup between Lyle Alzado and my very own Akuma Manivong!  Now, this is a matchup between my own kid who’s a 360k fighter, 26 years of age against a fully unrestricted, 284k, 44 year old ancient dude in Alzado!

DD:  Yeah, honestly I was wondering at first why you would subject your kid to this, a fight against a much, much more experienced fighter Hare.  Thought you’d maybe had a bit too many swigs from the bottle or something.  But then I had a closer look and realized Manivong has been more than struggling. He’s not living up to his skills, at least on paper, and ever since losing the belt over at Iron Wolf he’s been struggling along.

HR:  It’s true, Manivong is a fast learner, relatively speaking, but he only has a solid chin and it’s shown lately against the likes of Hightower and Beardsley.  It’s a definite concern and there’s a bit of a question about his heart once he gets tagged pretty good.

DD:  Alzado’s skills aren’t what they likely were at one point as he’s probably well into decline in his latter years here.  Hell, the man is almost as old as you are Hare!  That said, he knows how to use those skills and despite a long stretch where he struggled to win at PFC, Panda and Combate, he’s coming into the org here for his Sucker Punch debut with two back to back wins, both TKO’s.  That certainly spells trouble for Manivong if he doesn’t have his head on straight.

HR:  So yeah, given all that Donkey, I thought this was a good test for both fighters.  Alzado has the right skills to win against Manivong given his history.  Manivong needs to get over the hump and find a way to win, to take a shot and keep moving forward.

Donkey’s Pick: Manivong via TKO (Strikes)

We just talked a lot about the ways that Alzado can win this one tonight over the struggling Manivong.  But we can’t lose sight of the fact that Alzado has also been susceptible to not only a TKO or KO, but to submissions as well.  Manivong does bring skills to the table, skills in both of those areas.  He could be a lot for the aging Alzado to handle tonight and despite the fact that I barely ever pick Hare’s kids to win, I’m doing that here.

Undercard Bout #3: Heavyweights

Colin Penn (11-8-0) v Sey La Vie (13-4-0)

HR:  We’re at the midpoint of the Undercard here Donkey and we’ve got two more young kids who, despite being at the lower end of the big boy division, look to be up and coming with good, solid records.  Agree?

DD:  Well, yes, to a degree Hare.  But I think you’re probably looking a little too much at registered MMAT ID and not necessarily ages. You have to remember that some martial artists enter the fight game later in their lives.  Sure, they come along well and start out with some good, solid skills, but they’re still coming in a little later and therefore liable to get caught by the youngsters eventually.  That’s the case here for Penn, who despite being a 363k ID is already 32 years old versus the 361k ID La Vie who is only 25 years of age!

HR:  That is a GREAT point Donkey, thanks for catching me on that one and having my back!  I knew we paid you the big bucks for a reason!  That all said, it looks to me like this is a fairly close matchup and at least for now, these two are on pretty equal footing.  La Vie seems to have a small edge in wrestling but Penn has the Jiu Jitsu advantage.  Both are about even when it comes to both areas of standup.

DD:  This will be La Vie’s debut with Sucker Punch after he spent the large majority of his career with Cali MMA.  He’s carrying two wins with him over his last couple fights and this is a kid who loves to throw hands, and throw them hard!  All but one of his MMA wins have come via (T)KO and he has a solid chin, so he’s fairly equipped to get in there and bang.  Granted, it’s solid, but not granite.  And he has fallen via strikes a few times himself which accounts for his four losses.

HR:  So pivoting over to Penn, I’m looking at his history and it appears he can throw hands as well.  Or maybe even go for submissions?

DD:  That looks to be the case Hare.  He finished his last fight, his first here at Sucker Punch, via a beautiful rear naked choke over Sausage Pizza in early January.  His prior win, four fights back, came via a KO punch against Demolition Axe in under two minutes.  His history is riddled with wins via both methods but, similar to La Vie, his history also includes losses…via both means as well.  More via strikes though.  So…let’s see about a pick here…

Donkey’s Pick: Penn via Submission (Armbar)

With both of these Heavyweights having the ability to throw bombs and end it quickly there is always the possibility this turns into a powder keg and we get an explosion of hard hitting action tonight.  That is, if Penn decides to stand and trade…and if La Vie is able to keep it on the feet or end it quickly.  However, there is a very real threat that Penn decides the advantage is the ground for him and therefore he may work to get it there.  If that happens, you guys know I love the diversity of a fighter who can win in multiple ways…so that’s why you get my pick here.

***********************

Undercard Bout #4: Welterweights

Tytus Aleksy (22-12-0) v Paul Hunt (27-18-1)

HR:  Donkey, this next matchup gives us two Welterweights who are an example of the changing of the guard (possibly) here at Sucker Punch as both are in the unrestricted, unrestrained class!  But, to be honest, I’m less than thrilled here and I’m certain you already know why.  I’ll let you fill our fine folks at home in…

DD:  Undoubtedly it’s because Hunt is coming into the fight tonight very unprepared.  We’ve seen guys come into fights with their morale off, especially if their managers just aren’t good about knowing to get those clothes changed to bring the morale back, but coming in with the energy down below the halfway point is almost inexcusable.  And that’s what we’re dealing with tonight with Hunt.  And this isn’t an isolated circumstance from the Milky Sock team.

HR:  Correct Donkey, and he’s had other fighters come in similarly unprepared and that doesn’t bode well for both their short term future in their upcoming fight or long term with the organization!

DD:  So let’s switch off and get off the sore topic of Hunt here and talk about Aleksy instead Hare.  This will be Aleksy’s third fight here at Sucker Punch.  He came in strong, defeating fellow unrestricted Shock Linewood.  However, last month Juan Christiano, former champion in the Heavyweight division here, stepped up and showed that the more developed, capable fighters in the division are more than able to take on these unrestricted guys.  Aleksy fell to Christiano via TKO with only two seconds left in the first round.

HR:  So given Hunt’s abilities, despite the lack of prep, and Aleksy’s…what do you expect to see here tonight?

DD:  Let me get into all of that as part of the pick, ok Hare?

Donkey’s Pick: Aleksy via TKO (Strikes)

Aleksy is a boxer almost exclusively.  He’ll offer up some leg kicks to create separation and also give his opponent something to think about, but ultimately he’s looking to KO his opponent.  Hunt has elite wresting and a black belt in Jiu Jitsu which makes him dangerous on the ground.  As a mature, developed fighter, he can also strike, but mostly on the ground to compliment his submission game.  But we just can’t ignore the lack of preparation.  Hunt is very low on energy, setting him up to be gassed well before this can go deep into the rounds.  And his morale is off some, which means he may have trouble getting the fight to the ground. If he doesn’t get it to the ground early, this fight easily goes to Aleksy I think.  And even if he does, the fight may still go to Aleksy if he wastes energy and doesn’t finish it within the first round.

***********************

Undercard Bout #5: Light Heavyweights

Patrick Thomas (15-9-0) v Derwent Bolt (7-3-0)

HR:  We’ll finish off the Undercard at SPPS 117 with a Light Heavyweight battle between unrestricted ID Patrick Thomas and younger, longtime SPPS favorite, Derwent Bolt!   And Donkey, both are ready to get at it with tanks full, spirits high, just what we want to see.  A nice change from a couple of the prior fights!

DD:  These two absolutely come in with all the right things going on to give it the best go possible tonight Hare!  Skillwise, they also match very well, with Thomas having the Muay Thai advantage while Bolt, historically leaning more towards the ground game, will have the expected Jiu Jitsu edge!

HR:  Bolt had a fantastic start to his career here at Sucker Punch, running off four submissions victories in a row after he joined us, but…well, what happened there Donkey?

DD:  Most fans already know bunny boy!  He earned himself a title shot against John Doe but ended up TKO’d in the first round.  Not only the first TKO of his career but the first loss as well.  That seemed to rattle him. He bounced back against Aleks Kuznetsov after taking a few months off to rethink things, even winning by TKO for the first time in his career, but he was unable to sustain that momentum.  Instead, the TKO’s against elite strikers started to pile up as he fell to Jacob Parker and Eemeli Lampi in his quest to get back to the title fight.

HR:  And that was pretty much the end of the run under former manager Bjorn O’Donnel who decided he’d seen enough.  Our office was notified shortly after that Bolt was a free agent, looking for representation but wanted to remain with the org.  Luckily, he caught on with Arnie Path’s squad and indeed, they decided a change of scenery wasn’t needed, just a step back to the approach that works for Bolt!

DD:  Exactly.  In his first fight under Path’s leadership Bolt went back to his roots and submitted Radu Dracul in early December.  He’s been out now for about two months and returns, ready to take on the unrestricted Patrick Thomas and show the incoming folks what’s up!

HR:  This is Thomas’ second fight with us after he took on Krsto Vujić in his SPPS debut.  That fight went to a decision, something that Thomas has seen a lot of both via wins and losses.  He has three losses in a row heading into this fight with Bolt, so he really needs a win here I’d think.

DD:  He really does.  And he needs to get back to what works.  He’s primarily a boxer but my feel is that lately he’s leaned on that a little too much and also towards being a bit more restrained and less aggressive in his last few fights.  Going back to his last win against Lomax, four fights back, he was much more aggressive and mixed in a lot more kickboxing, especially with leg kicks to slow down his opponent.  I think that’ll be especially important tonight as he tries to avoid getting taken to the ground by Bolt, where things could get ugly.  Let’s get to the pick here…

Donkey’s Pick: Bolt via Submission (Kimura)

Lomax has sensational wrestling and a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu.  He’s never worked those skills offensively, so we can assume that he’s built for defense on the ground.  He’s going to need it if this fight gets there.  And given his history of dragging fights out for three rounds there will be many chances for that to happen and a high likelihood that at some point this fight is on the mat.  Bolt is very dangerous on the mat, I have to think he may get the job done.

***********************

Ok folks, Donkey and I have some administrative duties to take care of here so a break is in order before we head into the Main Card action!  We’ll be back with you later this afternoon with all the remaining highlights as we head into SPPS 117 tonight in Tokyo!  Hang tight, we’ll be back!

Main Card Bout #1: Middleweights

Wilfred Ainsworth (12-4-1) v James Kirk (11-5-1)

HR:  Ok, we’re back and throwing ourselves headfirst into the deep end with the Main Card folks!  We’ll start out with some Middleweight action as we get into the second half of SPPS 117 Donkey and with it we have a newcomer to Sucker Punch, “Captain” James Kirk, formerly from HFC!

DD:  Yep, we do Hare and while you may be tempted to think this guy spends his time guiding a starship around the fact is that it’s Corey Mcgraugh who does the piloting.  And up till the second half of 2021, a fine piloting job it was!  He was 10-1-1 and during one stretch had put together a 7-1 streak as he bridged between BBFC and HFC! That’s a bit impressive!  But he fell on tough times starting in July last year after he fell via TKO to Winston Todd, and then proceeded to lose three more in a row all via decision.

HR:  A rough go there for sure Donkey, but he bounced back in December and closed out the year right with a decision victory over Gus McCrae before jumping ship and recently making the move here to Sucker Punch!  Given his history and ability on paper, he finds himself in a big matchup with Wilfred Ainsworth tonight.

DD:  Sure does, and despite the losses for Kirk over the past half year Ainsworth will be challenged in this one.  These two may be the closest in skill sets that we’ll see all night, with practically no separation across the primaries.  Ainsworth has had two shots at the title already here in his long run at Sucker Punch but hasn’t capitalized yet.  He left for a bit to head to Gamma Contenders, but found himself back with us to close out 2021.

HR:  Ainsworth wants this win badly from what I’m hearing as he’s in line for a title shot after the Kazuma/Watkins fight later this month.  If he can win tonight!   So what are we looking at in terms of potential action between these two?  What are they going to bring to the cage and what approach are we likely to see from each?

DD:  Ainsworth is a fairly straight shorter Hare.  He’s mostly a boxer with kicking skills thrown in which he tends to utilize down low to slow down his opponents, give them something to think about, and set up the big shots up top.  He can clinch and work the inside stuff if needed but usually doesn’t instigate it.

HR:  And Kirk?

DD:  Kirk has brought a very, very similar style and approach to the cage of late as you get with Ainsworth.  Scarily so.  And with such closely matched skills that makes for a very interesting evening.   However, we should pay attention to the fact that he hasn’t had so much success of late.  When he was having success, he was using the clinch a ton more.  He gets the big work in while up close and that softens up his opponents in a big way as he tends to be very aggressive once he’s got them tied up.

HR:  Alright, so let’s get a pick here Donkey!

Donkey’s Pick: Ainsworth via Unanimous Decision

This is a really, really tough one to pick because we don’t know what Kirk’s going to do this evening. Here’s the best I can give you…if Kirk sticks with the recent go-to moves and matches styles with Ainsworth I think Ainsworth may come out on top.  But, Kirk could switch it up and fall back on his clinch skills at which point this thing could flip-flop!

***********************

Main Card Bout #2: Featherweights

Ryoto Takahashi (8-0-0) v Michael Aalto (13-5-0)

HR:  Moving on here Donkey we get a new face to the Sucker Punch fans…although he’s not exactly new in terms of how long he’s been around with us!  What do I mean by that?

DD:  You’re referring to Ryoto Takahashi Hare! He’s been with Sucker Punch for months now but was unable to take fights with us as he was waiting for the TWGC tournament to kick off for what seemed an eternity.  He did well in that competition but fell short in the finals and failed to grab gold. Disappointing for him I’m sure, as he seems to love his gold!  He’s a former two time 135 pound champ from both Medieval Combat and BBFC!

HR:  Donkey, you mentioned for the last fight that those two may be the most well matched of the evening, but I think we may have found a pair that tops that here with Aalto and Takahashi!  Their skills on paper are ridiculously close with only the smallest, sliver of an edge in Muay Thai and wrestling for Takahashi!  Heck, even their histories are a bit well matched as Aalto can claim to have an up close and personal knowledge of gold himself as the former two-time Sucker Punch Pro Series Featherweight champion!

DD:  Both fighters know how to get it done. And both undoubtedly have their eyes on the prize!  And they know how close they are, which is close I think?  Is that correct Hare?

HR:  Yeppers, absolutely Donkster!  The winner of this fight is going to have a date with the winner of Jihadi Joseph/Herve Cabrera during the first week or so of March.  That fight will determine who gets the next title shot against the winner of Sitsongrit/Chulalongkorn which takes place at the end of February!

DD:  So I guess it’s time for a little fight analysis and a pick, or the other way around, or whatever huh? Let’s do this!

Donkey’s Pick: Takahashi via Submission (Triangle)

Takahashi brings an undefeated record to the table along with significant striking skills, both in and out of the clinch.  He’s also no stranger to the ground game and submissions.  I think perhaps the streak stays alive after tonight.  But Aalto is, as we mentioned, a former two-time champ here and cannot be overlooked.  He can strike his way to a KO, TKO or decision victory as well and has pulled off more than a few submissions of his own.  Actually, significantly more than Takahashi. I called for the sub by Takahashi, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it’s actually Aalto who finds a way. The only reason I’m leaning against our former champ is that he’s seemed to struggle more recently and his confidence may be in question.

***********************

Main Card Bout #3:  Middleweights

Tanaka Matsuda (15-5-0) v Arthur Morgan (16-6-0)

HR:  We’re at the midway point of the Main Card and our final fight before the two Main Events!  Matsuda and Morgan have nearly identical records heading into this fight despite Matsuda being part of the original 355k+ club and Morgan being part of the incoming unrestricted class.  Donkey, how do you feel about my matchmaking here?

DD:  I’m a big fan of continuing to pit the more established, skilled fighters from the 355k+ crew against the incoming unrestricted guys Hare!  It builds confidence in our younger guys that they can not only go toe to toe but also win. That isn’t to say that this will be a gimme for Matsuda here though! It isn’t!

HR:  No, it’s definitely no gimme and actually Morgan will have a slight edge in both areas of standup while Matsuda claims only a small, small advantage in wrestling as these two meet in the cage.  That said, Matsuda is trying to rebound from two losses in a row and reposition himself in the Top Contender class of fighters as he’s been turned away from gold twice here at Sucker Punch by Wanderson Machado when he’s come oh so close to the ultimate goal!  He’s a former champ from BBFC and he wants to add another promotions belt to his cabinet!

DD:  The split decision loss to Ainsworth last month certainly set him back just slightly, letting Ainsworth sneak by and be slightly ahead in position for that shot at the title.  But Matsuda is close behind given that in the last ELEVEN fights he’s only lost to Machado himself and that split decision loss to Ainsworth!  Clearly he is part of the cream of the crop at Middleweight!  And by taking on Morgan, he can try to fend off the coming challenge for title opportunities from one of the unrestricted guys and potentially push him down the ladder a bit before April opens things up fully.  That’s huge.

HR:  Morgan has been with us for a bit now and has just been waiting for the opportunity to get some action going.  The right opportunities kept missing him, mostly in the form of opponents going AWOL.  His own manager, Slick Gunderson, has also been very busy with other affairs of late so he was in no hurry to rush his boy into the cage here at Sucker Punch.  Tonight he’ll finally make his debut with us, though Mr. Gunderson has been less than active of late and although he appears to be about and ready to guide his boy to the cage this evening I can’t say if they’ve covered their tactics fully or not!  Alright, give us a pick Donkey boy!

Donkey’s Pick: Matsuda via Submission (Armbar)

We should note that Morgan is also a former champion at both Combate and Limitless.  He knows what it takes to get to the gold…and win it.  He has that over Matsuda, so perhaps that experience pays off here?  The thing is, I worry about tactics, planning and training over this last camp. And for that reason, and Matsuda’s hunger, I’m going to go the other way this time around till we see more from Morgan here at Sucker Punch!  Regardless, the most interesting aspect to tonight will be what Matsuda brings to the cage in terms of approach and attack.  He can strike like Morgan, but he has a history of going to the ground and winning via submission as well.  Morgan has never been submitted…making this very interesting!  And a possible fun call for the pick if I can nail it!

Co-Main Event:

Featured Welterweight Bout

Konrad Wagner (16-4-0) v Juan Christiano (15-5-0)

HR:  The Co-Main Event!  Former Champ versus former Champ!   Almost identical records!  Donkey, I am soooooo ready for this fight as one of the big ones tonight at SPPS 117 in the Tokyo Dome baby!

DD:  This is a super exciting fight and you’re right to be amped up for it Hare!  A fine job picking these two to wage war in a premier spot of an already great card.  And our fights tonight, along with your matchmaking, are determined to make liars of us when we keep saying that a fight is the closes matched by skills we’ll see all night!  We’ve said that at least twice already prior to this, and once again we have one that is even more tightly matched if that’s possible!

HR:  Correct Donkey!  Ya like how I stack and load em here eh?  These two are identical in skills outside a single point of wrestling where Christiano boasts the miniscule advantage.  Christiano is a three time, multiple promotion Welterweight Champion as he held the belt at Checkmate prior to coming to Sucker Punch and winning it not once, but twice along with FOUR successful title defenses!  He’s a living legend at Welterweight here at SPPS.

DD:  A living legend perhaps, but even legends stumble eventually and Christiano did just that as he stumbled with the loss of the belt back in October to Darry Curtis and then missed the bounce back opportunity when he fell via decision to Leroy Jinx.  If he’d won that fight, given the loss to Curtis was a majority decision, he’d have already found his way back to the title scene!  But he didn’t let that shake him, instead he and manager Action Jackson stepped up and took on unrestricted newcomer Tytus Aleksy last month and won!  Showing that not only can he fend off the unrestricted folks, but he’s still in top form and wants that title back.

HR:  Well, he has that opportunity!  But guess what Donkey, somebody else wants it too!  Wagner is also a two promotion, three time champ as well!  He held the Welterweight title here at Sucker Punch, although he failed to defend, but then won it at Cali MMA as well where he defended it nicely!  Upon returning to SPPS in December he immediately swiped the belt fight back into his grubby little fingers from Darry Curtis…you know, the guy who beat Christiano!  Again, he failed to defend here at Sucker Punch and has given up the gold to Demetrius Jackson.

DD:  So it’s safe to say that both Christiano and Wagner should be laser focused on this fight!  If it weren’t for Matsuzaka already being lined up to fight for the title against Jinx, who now has the title from Jackson (damn that thing’s been moving around lately!) the winner of this fight would have a title shot in hand.

HR:  Correct Donkey, but instead, this fight is going to earn them a Top Contender battle.  Against who, we’re not sure yet.  Could be Valentine, could be Kulina, it’s all up to me, the Hare man!  But ultimately that will set us up for the next challenge for late March!   Ok, give us a pick Donkey!

Donkey’s Pick: Christiano via Unanimous Decision

Christiano is a striker who used power to overcome his opponents earlier in his career with a number of KO and TKO wins to his name. Of late, he’s more a technical striker and works for decisions.  Barring his very last fight against Alesksy where he went back to his old TKO ways!  Wagner is a power striker and rarely if ever gets finished.  It takes somebody who can go the distance while withstanding his shots to pull one away from him.  Christiano might have that ability and that’s why you get this pick!

Main Event:

Heavyweight Championship Bout

Hero Shima (11-4-0) v Will Wrecks (7-3-0)

HR:  Donkey, the culmination of a huge night of action is here as we get to the Main Event!  And a big one it is, in multiple ways!  This is a big boy fight between reigning, defending champ Hero Shima and challenger Will “I’ve got a KO with your name on it!” Wrecks!  No, that’s not his official nickname, but I really like it!

DD:  I knew you’d have some sorta play on the name and all there for Wrecks, Hare, but I really thought you were going to work with his last name a bit more on that one.  I’m sadly disappointed.  But you have the sentiment correct, that’s for sure.  Wrecks has been leaving a trail of them behind him over his last six fights!  (See what I did there Hare?  Pay attention and learn bunny boy!)  With four KO’s and two TKO’s over that stretch, Will Wrecks is a literal wrecking machine and there’s no pun needed to justify that one.

HR:  And that’s where the question comes in I guess Donkey.  He’s been mowing down the competition.  But is that competition of the level that he needs to be ready for the likes of Shima?  It’s very difficult to deny a streak like he’s been on and his skills are substantial…but the step from there to Shima…or Chontamenti…or Harrison…can be a big step forward!

DD:  Well, it’s too late to question it now Hare!  You made this fight, you gave him the opportunity and he stepped up to take it!  Now, we find out if he’s ready for the big bright lights, if he’s ready for greatness and if he can handle all the pressure that comes with it!  If not…then he still has an outstanding young career going and he’ll step back, regroup and learn from it, right?

HR:  Exactly Donkey!  See, I do know what I’m doing, don’t I!  Don’t I?  Hey, Donkey, why you so quiet?  I should really fire you and get a more agreeable co-host…maybe Suzy?

DD:  Suzy would never put up with your shit on the regular and you know it bunny boy.  Anyways, Wrecks has to deal with the champ himself tonight as he challenges for the belt.  And if anybody knows what a rough go that can be, it’s Chontamenti!  Maybe Wrecks got in touch with him for a few notes over the past month?  Or maybe it’s better that he didn’t since Shima seems to live rent free in Thoth’s head these days!  Anyways, Shima first grabbed the belt from Thoth back in July last year but failed to defend, letting it slip into ZaDarius Haden’s hands the following month.  After a win over Sam Cooper, Shima bounced right back and won the belt from Chontamenti again…and then followed that up with a defeat of Haden to defend successfully!  Oh sweet revenge!

HR:  Yes, sweet revenge indeed! You know that avenging that loss…while retaining the belt…had to feel awesome!  Since that time, Shima has looked unstoppable with wins over Chontamenti…again…and then Sean Harrison who looked to come into the org with the goal of stealing gold and hype!  Good on Shima!  Give us a pick Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick:  Shima via Submission (Armbar)

Shima has been winning by hook or by crook, as they say!  Whatever it takes…KO?  Sure.  Submission?  Yep, he’s got that for ya!  Hell, ya want a bloody mess for your troubles?  He sent Sean Harrison back to the medical staff looking like ground beef fresh from the butcher last month!  If Wrecks wants a chance, he has to come in and not be intimidated and that’s a tough ask.  I’m hoping for a battle from hell, but I see a weak spot in Wrecks’ game, and that’s the Jiu Jitsu.  Shima is very, very strong on the ground and he’s likely going to attack that purple belt tonight.  Wrecks had better have worked on his defensive grappling and escapes this past month.  Or be prepared to knock Shima out fast!  But I have to go with the champ here due to that glaring weak link!

***********************

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

The action is about to be nasty and intense as we rock Tokyo right to the island’s foundation!  The Tokyo Dome will be giving off enough energy to power the entire country for about three hours of insanity tonight…don’t miss it!  Either live or over the air, we have a way for you to catch it.  The three hour LIVE PPV awaits all those who can’t just hop a jet to Tokyo!

Till then, have fun and don’t forget…

SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW

Sucker Punch Pro Series 119

Hey Sucker Punch fans!  Hare Rumpler here along with Donkey “Dan” and we’re going to spin ourselves right into this thing without much fanfare today!  It’s Superbowl Sunday, my kids have lifeguarding, swim practice and a bunch of other stuff…and frankly this event goes off only a short time from now, so it’s time to just get a move on it!  It’ll be short and sweet I think today!

SPPS 119 comes at you from the Wombley Arena in London, England and brings you not one…but TWO huge championship fights for your Main Events folks!  Woot!  Light Heavyweight and Middlweight belts on the line tonight!  You’ll also get a ton of Featherweight action as five of our fights on the card are represented by the tiny division, as well as two big boy battles and one other Light Heavyweight contest that opens things up for us in the Undercard.  Good stuff!

So, let’s get a quick word from our sponsor and merchandise partner and get to the fun stuff for each fight in more detail!

Undercard Bout #1: Light Heavyweights

Adim Bulb Jr (0-0-0) v Sacrificial Lamb Jr (0-0-0)

HR:  Donkey, ok, I admit it…this first fight isn’t really a couple of Light Heavyweights nor is it an actual fight to kick things off…

DD:  …yeah, we know that Hare! That was pretty easy to spot as only one guy, Lamb, is a true Light Heavyweight.  The other, Bulb Jr, is actually a Featherweight and both of these kids are brand new to the professional MMA ranks!  So this is really a test fight and from what I’ve been told, both are pretty dim-witted and likely won’t be around long!

HR:  It’s true Donkey, both of these kids are flipping idiots to be honest.  I had scheduled the test fight to fill an empty slot before I knew their learning speeds and boy, were they disappointments!  This is nothing more than cannon fodder this evening!

DD:  Should I even bother with a pick then?  Probably not, but here goes anyway…

Donkey’s Pick: Lamb Jr via TKO (Strikes)

Given both kids are brand new to training I’ll simply go with the bigger, heavier fighter here.

***********************

Undercard Bout #2: Featherweights

Cleon Wright (10-5-0) v Dizzy Knox (5-10-0)

HR:  Our second bout of the evening will be a Featherweight affair between, as the girls would say, two skinny boys prepared for a slapfest!  Ha!  Both are just about even in skills despite having polar opposite records, so this should be interesting Donkey?

DD:  Well, it’s certainly going to test out the theory of, “You are what your record says you are.”  With both kids having comparable skills one would think this fight can go either way but clearly Knox has had a tough time securing wins.  That said, maybe he just needed a change of scenery as his debut with Sucker Punch was a decision victory over Luke Skywalker last month.

HR:  And Wright makes his debut this evening after jumping around a bit of late.  He was with GDL for a long, long time but then ended up with BBFC for a single fight and subsequently moved to HFC.  Both fights, one in each org, resulted in losses and he comes in here with a 1-3 run over his last four despite a 10-5 record overall.  Granted, two of those fights from GDL were title fights!  So what will we get from these boys?

DD:  Both of these fighters tend to keep it on the feet.  And both have a tendency, at least of late, to lose via TKO or KO in many cases.  However, Wright is the more prone to being able to dish out the pain given his history while Knox tends to work for the points.

HR:  And that leads us to the pick I guess!

Donkey’s Pick: Wright via TKO (Strikes)

I’m going with that trend here.  The combination of Wright having had more success finishing and Knox having been finished more than a few times leads me to believe Wright will have the edge.

***********************

Undercard Bout #3: Heavyweights

Jack Morgan (19-14-0) v Zygmunt Krol (6-8-0)

HR:  Next up Donkey, a Heavyweight bout featuring one of our more highly skilled OG (to a degree) kids against one of the incoming unrestricted group!  It’s really important for these fights to start going off as March brings the beginning of full open season for scheduling and April opens up the possibility for unrestricted fighters to go after titles!

DD:  And this should be a very closely fought fight between the big dudes as well Hare!  If anything Krol has the advantage here as he has the better Muay Thai while most other skills are neck and neck with these two. That said, Krol has been struggling.  Action Jackson decided he wasn’t worthy of his squad back mid-2021 after two losses in a row to top tier Heavyweights here at Sucker Punch but then it looked like Folioli had the answers for Krol.  Krol immediately picked up two solid wins under his new management team as he downed Patrick Murphy and Rock Silva.

HR:  That success was a big short lived as we all know Donkey, as he’s now carrying a trio of losses into tonight’s fight after once again coming up short against the elite in the division, having fallen to Chontamenti, Haden and most recently, Balkan.  How about Morgan, what’s he looking like Donkey?

DD:  Don’t sit here and pretend you don’t have a clue there Hare!  Morgan has been with at least five or six managers over his career and you were one of them smack dab in the middle.  And he is what he was then.  About a .500 fighter.  He won two and lost two with you.  He’s done the same under his last manager, Tev Clark with alternating losses and wins.  Now he comes in under Bushido Zen for his Sucker Punch debut and he’s due for a win, but he’ll have his work cut out to get it!

HR:  Alright, so give us a pick and tell us what to expect from these two?

Donkey’s Pick: Krol via TKO (Strikes)

Both are hard strikers, so you can expect a serious throwing of hands here tonight!  I’m hard pressed to make a pick based upon skill and records here, so I’m going with management.  Zen has been around a long time but his record overall isn’t quite what Folioli’s is.  Folioli is a Top 100 manager at this time and a former #1 in MMAT.  I’m going to give the edge on strategy and tactics to that team tonight!

***********************

Undercard Bout #4: Featherweights

Godefroy Courtial (15-5-1) v Luke Skywalker (9-11-2)

HR:  Back to the little dudes Donkey!  Skywalker…Courtial…this one could be fun!  Skywalker looks to have the advantage on the ground with his Jiu Jitsu this evening while Courtial is the better Muay Thai artist.  Both are prepared, although Skywalker’s morale could be a smidge better if I’m being honest.  Tell the fine folks a bit more Donkey?

DD:  What do you want me to tell them Hare? You just laid out what we’re likely to see here tonight! What you didn’t tell them is that Skywalker is more or less up against the wall here.  He has to win this fight tonight or he’s likely not going to be on contract come tomorrow.  He’s 0-6-1 over his last seven fights and well at the bottom of the division at this point.  He had a lot of potential early in his career, even earning a title shot against Michael Aalto at one point, but all that seems to have slipped away.  He needs to prove he’s not ready to have a fork stuck in him, but honestly, it does look that way.

HR:  Well, that was a bit brutal Donkey!  You’ll earn no love with that take on things from the Skywalker camp!  How about Courtial?

DD:  Courtial is much better off, but not out of danger entirely.  His four fight winning streak from July through October last year is carrying him at the moment along with his most recent win over Casey in January.  Losses in the last two months of 2021 marred his run though.  This is a kid who lives and dies by his hands but tonight he’s also going to need to stay away from the ground game against Skywalker or he could end up in trouble.

HR:  Alright, so possible classic striker versus ground matchup.  Give us a pick there Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick: Courtial via Unanimous Decision

Courtial has never been finished via submission.  I was tempted to pick for that trend to end this evening, but I’m just not seeing that happen.  Skywalker has been floundering too much and I’m not sure I can trust putting a pick in his hands.  He’s likely hit the end of the road.

***********************

Undercard Bout #5: Featherweights

Count Dankula (9-4-0) v Yellow Belt Casey (9-11-0)

HR:  Our final fight of the Undercard will bring together Casey and Dankula in a Featherweight matchup.  Both with nine wins but slightly different numbers accompanying those wins.  It looks to me like Dankula’s morale may be off slightly and his energy is less than ideal, although not off by a ton, so perhaps Casey gets the automatic advantage here in a couple hours?

DD:  Possibly Hare, and Casey needs it!  He’s 1-3 over his last four fights and just has been struggling against the mid to upper tier guys at Featherweight.  You’ll expect to see him come out looking to kickbox this evening as that’s been his go-to move over the past several fights.  Unless he changes it up.  Which may not be a bad move!

HR:  Casey’s opponent, Dankula, has been a bit hit or miss, literally, over his most recent run with Brocc Ogan ever since his days as the former champ here at Sucker Punch under Bob Loblaw.  He’s 2-2 over his last four and carries a loss to Herve Cabrera into this one, a submission via armbar.  That might excite Casey as he has some ground skills and might see that as an opportunity?

DD:  Dankula has the stronger wrestling here tonight but Casey definitely has the Jiu Jitsu. On the feet, they’re mixed as well, although Casey has a bigger advantage in Muay Thai than he gives up boxing.   Dankula works almost a pure boxing game and has struggled on the ground so the goal here is clear for his squad…find a way to keep the fight standing or finish it quickly!

HR:  Let’s here the pick then!

Donkey’s Pick: Casey via Submission (Armbar)

I think Casey is due and Dankula, while not losing often, has lost a couple via submission to ground specialists.  That seems to be the opening Casey would need here tonight.

***********************

Ok folks, Donkey and I are working hard to get the rest of the preview out here, but there’s no guarantees we’ll get there before the fights go off in about 90 minutes!  We’ll be back soon in a half hour or so hopefully with the remainder!

***********************

Main Card Bout #1: Heavyweights

Bjorn Olafsson (11-8-0) v Andre Powell (11-8-0)

HR:  Main Card time Donkey and we definitely need to get rolling here as time is running short and the folks are already filling the Wombley over in London for this big event!  Powell and Olafsson represent the big boys again in the second Heavyweight fight of the night!  And both 360k plus guys, so plenty of talent and time to continue development!

DD:  They sure do and you can’t ask for much more of an evenly matched bout!  Nice job there Hare!  Both 11-8, both with just about even skills across the board except for the slight edge that Olafsson has in wrestling and Muay Thai, but it’s not much…and both just about fully prepared to get into the cage.  Should be a good one!

HR:  Alright, you seem to be hitting things in stride there Donkey, so just run with this!  Tell us what we’re looking at and what to expect!

DD:  Well, Powell comes in on a three fight losing streak after finally breaking a streak of losses that was just as long!  Granted, he did that by taking on Edward Mills not once, but twice!  That was due to Mills being determined to get his block knocked off, which Powell was happy to oblige and did twice…in under minute each time!  The more interesting fight though was the one prior against MiG, when powell pulled off the first submission of his career out of nowhere!  Love seeing guys evolve, and that was a shocker!

HR:  Great stuff there on Powell!  How about Olafsson, I don’t think our fans out there know much about this kid.

DD:  They don’t Hare, unless they’d been paying attention to a lot of Cali MMA action before they folded.  Our Sucker Punch faithful got a taste of Olafsson last month when he defeated Paulius Zurauskas via TKO in the second round.  Olafsson has been struggling to gain traction and consistency though, so we’re not sure what we get this evening.  We do know he loves the clinch though, so this may turn into a battle for position between him and Powell as they see who can dictate where the fight takes place.

HR:  And…a pick?

Donkey’s Pick: Powell via TKO (Strikes)

Tough pick, both are just as susceptible to the TKO or KO as they are to dishing one out.  Flip the coin I think!  Let’s go with Powell and see if he can make it four in a row!

***********************

Main Card Bout #2: Featherweights

Ivan Volkov (19-17-0) v Dom Cruz (37-30-0)

HR:  Moving along here Donkey we’ve got a Featherweight bout with a moonlighting Cruz!  Haha, I love that term for some reason!  But yeah, Cruz came in for a single fight specifically to give Volkov a little dance!

DD:  He did, and his manager also has a name you love from prior fights I think, Hare!  But, this is going to be interested.  Can the wily veteran pull off what would probably be considered an upset at the age of 43 against his younger fellow unrestricted dance partner, Volkov? And when I say younger, I mean that relatively.  Volkov is 34 and no spring chicken either, but compared to Cruz he certainly is!

HR:  Both have seen plenty of action in their careers, that’s for sure Donkey!  And both come in with some serious skills, especially on the ground.  Cruz has probably the more impressive set with elite wrestling and Black belt, don’t you think?

DD:  No, I don’t agree Hare.  I think you have your colors all mixed up bunny boy!  Volkov also has elite wrestling, but a RED belt to go with it!  And sensational standup in both areas of boxing and Muay Thai.  Cruz has sensational boxing, but “only” wonderful Muay Thai.

HR:  So what, you just handing this one to Volkov? Almost sounds like it!  Let’s just hear your pick then!

Donkey’s Pick: Volkov via Submission (Guillotine)

Definitely not handing it.  But I am leaning that way.  Cruz is 1-5 in his last six fights as of the end of 2021.  And while he’s pulled off one submission of late in his career, he’s been submitted a few times. He can strike though, and that could help him out!  But Volkov has a granite chin and an affinity for submissions.  I think this may be Volkov’s to lose.

***********************

Main Card Bout #3:  Featherweights

Aaron Petrov (33-13-1) v Gauthier Delisle (15-7-0)

HR:  The last of our Featherweight matchups on this card Donkey!  And there were quite a few eh? And, the last of our fights before the final two Main Events for the belts that are on the line tonight!  Both of these kids are part of the unrestricted crew, eh Donkster?

DD:  They sure are Hare, and this one is an easy breakdown.  No need to get into a long-winded spiel over this!  Submission specialist in Delisle against striker in Petrov!

HR:  This is Delisle’s debut with Sucker Punch after he was previously with SMASH and Combate before that. Petrov has only been with us for one prior fight, a majority decision over Ivan Volkov in mid January.  Both have been hit or miss on wins and losses of late, so I think this may just be about whose strategy works better tonight?

DD:  I think that’s probably fair.  As I said, Delisle will be looking for submissions.  Petrov will want it standing.  It’s just a matter of who can make the magic happen Hare!

HR:  Well, as you said, pretty simple.  Let’s get to the pick then!

Donkey’s Pick: Petrov via TKO (Strikes)

Delisle has worked some very good submissions over the past year but is also susceptible to the KO or TKO.  Petrov can dish those out, but hasn’t been finished on the ground much lately.  You have to go back quite a ways.  I’m going to go with that as my difference maker.

***********************

Co-Main Event:

Middleweight Championship Bout

Kiryu Kazuma (13-6-0) v Craig Watkins (8-3-1)

HR:  The Co-Main Event!  And I love that we’re seeing both Watkins and Kazuma come into this one fully prepped Donkey!  As they should when they’re fighting for the hardware!  And damn, will this be a solidly matched one or what???

DD:  It will be and actually if anybody holds the advantage here, even slightly, it might be the challenger in Watkins as he has a small edge in Muay Thai and wrestling.  Watkins has been on a roll since joining SPPS at the end of the year with wins over Hall and DeAngelo, both TKO’s in the first round!  That’s impressive and certainly gives the champ something to think about tonight.

HR:  Kazuma is a two-time Middleweight Champion here at Sucker Punch as he previously won it back in July over Wanderson Machado and defended successfully against Fuhren before Machado was able to snag it back again in October.

DD:  The champ, even if only in his heart at that point, was not to be held down though Hare!  He stepped up the workouts and practice sessions and put together two beautiful wins over Luka Marka and then Not Ponor via KO and TKO respectively.  And both in under a minute!  Hell, the win over Ponor was a twenty-two second finish!  You have to call that the eye of the tiger and a fire burning in the gut!

HR:  You do, and you love to see that in your champions.  Or former champions who have the potential to get back to it!  And what’d that lead him to? A rubber match with Machado of course!!!  Which he won to grab the belt back again in a back and forth see-saw battle between those two!  The start of the year was a beautiful one as January brought the belt back to Kazuma and he now defends it against up and coming talent to SPPS in Watkins! Tell us your pick and what you see Donkey?

Donkey’s Pick: Kazuma via KO (Punch)

This won’t be a walk in the park for the champ.  At least, I don’t think it will.  Watkins likes to bring the “BOOM” with his hands and we know Kazuma can as well.  This may just be an explosion in the first round of action tonight!!!  I’m going to give the champ his respect with this pick but if I’m honest, this one could end in smelling salts for either guy!

***********************

Main Event:

Light Heavyweight Championship Bout

Dempsey ONeill (13-4-0) v John Fury (13-3-0)

HR:  Here we go with the Main Event of the evening folks!  Donkey, this one should be another blast just like the last as both fighters can bring the BOOM, as you said about the Co-Main Event!

DD:  Absolutely, we know Fury likes to bring it and we know that ONeill can as well, although he and his camp of late have been leaning more towards drawn out decision fights that go to the judges.

HR:  And, if I’m honest and not lying here Donkey, I believe we have a bit of a vested interest in this fight tonight.  We don’t usually take sides much unless we have an unprepared fighter…but…well, sometimes you have to do what you have to do, am I wrong?

DD:  In this case you’re definitely not.  I try to stay impartial as well but ONeill’s camp-mate, Duvernay, recently informed the SPPS front office that he’d be leaving at the end of his contract after his first title defense.  Greener pastures and more hype and all that. So obviously we have to have the same concern here with ONeill…which means…we’re fully rooting for a Fury win here this evening obviously!

HR:  No doubt Donkey.  And these two are both very, very evenly matched, both very talented.  It could go either way.  It’s about a flat line down the primary skills category aside from a bit of Muay Thai advantage for ONeill.   Give us a pick here Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick:  Fury via TKO (Strikes)

Fury has won six of his last seven via TKO or KO under two different management teams.  You have to figure he’s bringing the power to the cage tonight, although you never know.  You also have to figure that ONeill is going to try to eek out the points in a technical striking venture to win it with the judges.  Who’s strategy wins out?  It may just come down to whether the big shot lands or not!  ONeill has never been stopped on his feet though.

***********************

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Let’s get ready to rock London to its very damp, chilly, foggy core!  I’ve actually never been to London, so I’m just going with stereotypes there!  Haha.  Anyways, Donkey and I are ready for the action that now kicks off in just under an hour!  Let’s do this folks!  And don’t miss the LIVE Three Hour PPV if you can’t be there in person!

Till then, have fun and don’t forget…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series style!

SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW

Sucker Punch Pro Series 120

Welcome back Sucker Punch fans as we prepare for a night of exciting action in Tokyo tonight for SPPS 120!  Hare Rumpler here along with Donkey “Dan” and we’re looking forward to hanging out with a bunch of unruly Sucker Punch faithful tonight at the Tokyo Bowl.  No titles on the line this evening, but undoubtedly a night of incredible fights as some of the best Sucker Punch has to offer get in there and try to prove that they should, indeed, be part of the title scene!

There’s a mix of just about everything on tap for our fans this evening!  The Undercard will start off with the big boys in action as Heavyweights Zurauskas and Ghambe get at it.  We’ll have Light Heavyweight action after that followed by a pair of Welterweight battles.  The Undercard will close out right where it started with yet another beastly matchup as Bobo Brazil and Banana Republic step into the cage to square up!

To ramp up the Main Card the Welterweights jump right back into the mix as Mister Lee comes in to face off against Ceedee Queen.  That should be a fantastic battle between two guys with a ton of tools and skill!  We drop down a bit to Lightweight action next as The Royal Savage tries his luck against Verreira.  Verreira is trying to line himself up as the next Top Contender in the Lightweight division so this is a very, very important fight for him. At the same time, Savage could make big waves by upsetting Verreira and moving himself up the ladder instead!

Our final bout before the Main Events will be our last of four Welterweight showdowns on the evening, this time between Rick Segura and Kai Rossiter.  This is a fight that fans won’t want to miss and will surely get the entire crowd ramped up for the final two fights of the evening!  In Main Event action we have two very anticipated fights between Heavyweights Balkan and Haden (their second time meeting) and the entire night will be capped off with what promises to be an amazing contest between Light Heavyweights Lampi and Izanagi!

So, let’s get a quick word from our sponsor and merchandise partner and get to the fun stuff for each fight in more detail!

Undercard Bout #1: Heavyweights

Liam Ghambe (9-8-0) v Paulius Zurauskas (3-5-0)

bf1200a0d044f460ef0dc146c5ffcb04.png

HR:  Alright Donkey, let’s make this quick as I’m going to need some sleep at some point tonight!  We start the night off with some Heavyweights here…but…well…

DD:  …but it’s not exactly a situation we were hoping for.  Ghambe is coming in unprepared with his morale close to half.  Again.  You laid out fair warning last time that should this happen again it would be the end of the run for him.  So, win or lose, this probably means he won’t be on the Sucker Punch roster tomorrow.

HR:  Correct, that’s the first half.  The second half?

DD:  Zurauskas has just not been able to pull things together.  After his last loss, his second under new management and fifth in a row, he was pretty much kept on just to test if Ghambe would show up prepared for a fight or not.  Even a win tonight probably can’t save Zuraskas at this point and in the effort to reduce roster size down and create opportunities and spots, these two are likely to both end up on the short end of the stick after this evening.

HR:  Alright, so a pick?

DD:  Really, do I have to?  Ok, here goes…

Donkey’s Pick: Zurauskas via Unanimous Decision

Obviously I can’t pick for Ghambe with his morale the way it is.  So I’ll go the other way on this one.  I anticipate a standing battle for most of three rounds with a decision towards the end.  But for everybody’s sake, the crowd would be thankful for a quick finish!

Undercard Bout #2: Light Heavyweights

Andrei Averyanov (7-3-0) v Lorenzo Bianchi (8-5-0)

fedf631ffc5869eb5f3f1133dc9ec82e.png

HR:  Donkey, our second contest will feature two Light Heavyweights in Bianchi and Averyanov.  I believe both of these kids very much need a win.

DD:  You’re right about that Hare.  Bianchi has lost his last two fights, both under different management teams.  Averyanov won his very last fight in January over Veidt, but lost three prior to that, including the first against Veidt.  SO at least he was able to avenge that loss.  The question is, can he stay on a roll of swapping out losses for wins?

HR:  Neither fighter is really at risk of being cut at this time as they’re both fairly young, relatively speaking in the 360k+ range, and potentially have time to grow and develop further.  That said, Bianchi wants to avoid tacking on many more losses or he may have me reconsidering that statement!

DD:  With very close skills in boxing, Muay Thai and wrestling the only real difference is Bianchi’s brown belt over Averyanov’s purple.  And that’s where the fight may be determined, whether Bianchi can get it to the ground to go for submissions, as is typical for him, or if Averyanov can win the fight with his strikes, specifically the bombs to the noggin’!

HR:  And that leads us to the pick I guess!

Donkey’s Pick: Bianchi via Submission (Armbar)

I don’t have a great reason for this pick as Bianchi’s history has suggested he’s just as liable to fall via TKO or KO as he is to get the submission.  And Averyanov doesn’t mind dishing either out.  And over the past two management teams for Bianchi, they haven’t been able to correct that.  However, you know I like a solid ground game and with that being the only true difference in skills between the two I’ll go with it.

Undercard Bout #3: Welterweights

Butch Thighpunch (21-14-0) v Kahdi Mandinos (10-13-0)

d643b569d9f72d86a41b16d0e4aa7d21.png

HR:  We get halfway through the Undercard here and with it we get Mandinos whose record and experience are so extensive that one might think he’s unrestricted ID until they look closer!  He’ll need that experience tonight because he faces off against Thighpunch who is, indeed, unrestricted.

DD:  This is a very solid grappler versus striker matchup this evening!  Thighpunch will have the advantage in both areas of standup.  And if you go back far enough, past  his last four losses in a row, you’ll get to wins that more often than not have come via strikes. Mandinos is a submission specialist who will want this fight on the ground immediately where he’ll have the distinct advantage.

HR:  So it sounds like this fight will be determined by who can control it and dictate where it takes place!  Thighpunch on the feet, Mandinos on the ground!  And both needing a win to get away from the losses.  Give us a pick Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick: Mandino via Submission (Triangle)

This is a very tough pick to make because I can’t really go by trends either.  Thighpunch has fallen to submissions of late. But Mandinos has also fallen to strikes!  So each has a weakness that is right in the other’s wheelhouse!  I’m going to go with submission, because, well, I like them and we haven’t had a lot lately in our recent cards.  But this could go either way easily!

Undercard Bout #4: Welterweights

Bald Martin (10-6-1) v Lou Valentine (7-4-0)

0cc16d5f69d76e2f8006b8561f117a03.png

HR:  Here we go Donkey!  My own guy, Valentine, here up against one of the unrestricted fighters that have arrived at Sucker Punch!  And at 360k+, don’t let anybody say that my guys aren’t willing to step up!  This one should be quite the challenge for Valentine who’s been doing well of late.

DD:  It’s true that Valentine has had success of late Hare.  Even though he’s your dude I can’t go and deny that after five wins in a row here at Sucker Punch. And before anybody screams favoritism, Valentine has done it right.  All but one of his opponents have winning records and even Rabbit, who ended his career with a losing one, had a winning record when he fought Valentine.  And most are much lower in ID, so Valentine has been stepping it up and pulling out wins any way necessary.  Decision, submission, TKO, whatever it takes.

HR:  The unrestricted, 352k Bald Martin will be no joke tonight for Valentine though!  He brings a serious challenge to the cage for our boy and he’s led by Mikie Patterson who has been on a roll over late over his prior fifteen managed fights or so!

DD:  Correct, Martin will be a solid challenge.  But he’s also been struggling of late.  He has a solid winning record, but much of the wins and draws on his record have come recently in the past six or seven fights.   Prior to that run, he held a 7-1 record!  This is his Sucker Punch debut this evening and wow, what a way to welcome him, with one of your own boys Hare!

HR:  Alright, tell us what you expect to see in the fight and the potential result Donkey?

Donkey’s Pick: Martin via Unanimous Decision

Martin has only lost once by anything other than a decision.  A head kick that some could call a fluke potentially given his history.  He’s also got elite wrestling with a brown belt, so Valentine’s history of pulling off submissions combined with Martin’s own history of not having fallen to any may give him confidence that he won’t get taken on the ground.  Martin also has the overall striking advantage with a slightly better Muay Thai skillset, so overall combined with experience this looks like an uphill battle for Valentine.  Pure talent will have to carry him through and you’d think he has to find a way to finish to win.

Undercard Bout #5: Heavyweights

Brazil vs. Republic II

Bobo Brazil (11-6-0) v Banana Republic (9-9-0)

8acd0977ae358f65cdad04c2684e5433.png

HR:  Second time brings even more fun Donkey?  Our final fight here on the Undercard will be a rematch between Republic and Brazil who first fought back in September last year.  Brazil walked away with the win in that one, do you expect the same again?

DD:  Wow, jumping straight to trying to get a pick from me bunny boy?  You have to wait, there’s a process here you know!  Republic got on a roll for a bit with decision victories over Bjoergen, Conchobhar and then Meshkov.  Then, he got tested against one of the elite in the division, ZaDarius Haden, to see if he was contender ready.  He came up short in that one but did manage to take it to the judges against a guy who likes to finish!

HR:  That’s good and all, but does Brazil win again?

DD:  I told you that you have to wait cottontail!  As I was saying, Republic can take it to guys and had been, with quality striking both in and out of the clinch.  But Brazil likes to play the same game.  And was on a run of his own after he defeated Bjoergen, similar to Republic, but then also beat Republic as well as Bloodsport Unknown and Anton Meshkov.  With that run, he was in consideration for Top Contender but fell down a bit when given a chance against Magomedov and Chontamenti, two of the tougher fighters in the division.

HR:  Ok, ok, so they both like to strike, Brazil won last time, they both had decent runs for a bit…so which is it?

Donkey’s Pick: Republic via Unanimous Decision

Fine!  You can have your pick Mr. Impatient!  Both of these fighters can strike both in and out of the clinch.  Heck, both of them are just as likely as the other to take it to the clinch themselves.  I don’t have a good bit of new information to go on to really make a pick here other than loving to stir the pot and create rubber matches!  So we’ll go with Republic…both to even the score as well as because perhaps Brazil’s bell is still ringing from the Chontamenti KO last month!

Ok folks, Donkey and I are working hard to get the rest of the preview out here and will be back soon within the hour with the remainder!

Main Card Bout #1: Welterweights

Ceedee Queen (8-7-0) v Mister Lee (8-7-0)

3d670bf1fb57b342ce26506d31e47a6a.png

HR:  Alright, time to get the Main Card rolling here Donkey and boy, what a matchup at least from first glance!  Two kids with 8-7 records about to see who can move further ahead while the other falls to .500!

DD:  Mister Lee and Ceedee Queen should hopefully set the tone of the Main Card tonight as it should be one of the best fights I’d think!  Lee will have slight edges in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu but can just as easily take the entire thing via points on the feet from his aggressive kickboxing as he can by finishing on the ground with a beautiful submission!  That said, Lee is 2-3 over his last five and falls just short at times against the elite in the Welterweight division.

HR:  Surprisingly, these two have never fought before. That’s a bit hard to believe considering each have spent a very good portion of their careers here at Sucker Punch!  So…Queen?

DD:  Queen was on a really, really rough patch for a bit and his prior manager finally just gave up.  That may have been the wakeup call that Queen needed as he and new manager Santiago Frederico have gone 2-1 together since.  The first fight was a loss together, but sometimes an adjustment period is needed.  What’s important is that the last two fights have been wins including the most recent decision over an unrestricted fighter!  Nice.

HR:  So a pick there Donkey?

Donkey’s Pick: Lee via Unanimous Decision

Queen has a style very much like Lee’s.  This one should be a great battle but given Lee has defeated a couple guys lately along the same level as guys that Queen has fallen to, I have to lean towards Lee perhaps having the answer this evening!

Main Card Bout #2: Lightweights

Vinicius Verreira (9-2-0) v The Royal Savage (6-1-0)

8511ebf3f2703fbb51501e7753938ca3.png

HR:  Moving along to some Lightweights and we’ve got Verreira here who is looking for a title shot if he gets this win and Savage who would love to put a damper on that while escalating himself closer and closer to contender consideration!

DD:  There you go Hare!  You don’t need much more motivation than that! This is what you work for, to get this close and get the opportunity to stake your claim to a title shot.  Verreira is only one step away and honestly earned his shot after he defeated Cobain in January.  But rather than sit for two months waiting he took another fight in between.  Ballsy but impressive, respect!

HR:  And Savage himself has been no slouch as he came in and won his debut here at Sucker Punch with us via TKO over Oliver Herdrich, Donkey.   Add to that two wins prior to joining us for three in a row and an overall 6-1 record lifetime and he’s only a couple big wins away from being able to make a solid case for himself!

DD: And Savage is just that, a savage!  He’s a lover of the head shot and he throws em like ten ton bricks!  Verreira has proven he can finish in the past as well, but more often than not has a much more technical approach to his striking game.  Neither is likely to take this to the floor tonight.

HR:  So give it to us Donkey!

Donkey’s Pick: Savage via KO (Strikes)

Fireworks will fly in this one and I don’t expect it to make it to the judges despite Verreira’s history of doing so recently.  These two can both finish and likely one will!  I’m going out on a limb here…and saying that Savage lands a nasty one at the right time.  But Verreira is a more diverse striker and could easily defuse him and control the fight.

Main Card Bout #3:  Welterweights

Kai Rossiter (16-6-0) v Rick Segura (8-4-0)

286c89976d77301ad7633ac017e8cd30.png

HR:  A couple more Welterweights tonight and we’re halfway through the Main Card, just about to get to the Main Events and we’ve got another great one!

DD:  Sure do bunny boy!  Segura steps up and takes on one of the unrestricted guys here as he attempts to bounce back from two losses in a row, one that cost him a title shot and another…to your boy Valentine Hare…that set him back a step further.  A win over the unrestricted dudes could certainly help erase some of that from memory fast!

HR:  Segura has been close to Top Contender more than once Donkey and certainly knows how to handle himself.  He’s only been KO’d once in his career and the submission by Valentine came out of nowhere as he hadn’t fallen to submission since his very first test fight back in the day.  How does he handle Rossiter?

Donkey’s Pick: Segura via Unanimous Decision

Segura won’t have to worry about the ground game.  Rossiter is a striker and even more than that, almost purely a boxer.  He can handle himself in the clinch if need be, but he doesn’t strive to put the fight there.  He brings a ton of power with each shot thrown, so Segura will have to steer clear.  Segura is an excellent technical striker himself though, so I think we have a great fight on our hands here.  I give it to our boy Segura as Rossiter has to show me something first after his loss to Queen last month.

Co-Main Event:

Featured Heavyweight Bout

Haden vs. Balkan II

ZaDarius Haden (14-5-0) v Boris Balkan (8-7-1)

9bff930eff479e8519ea8bfc1194ee42.png

HR:  Our Co-Main Event is a rematch but many folks may not even remember the first time they fought as it was all the way back in November of 2020!  Haden came out on top in that one via TKO in the second round.  Think it happens the same tonight Donkey?

DD:  What is it with you tonight trying to get me to jump straight to the picks man?  Seriously.  Let’s look a little closer first and see if anything’s changed since the last time they met.  The first time they fought Haden went with a heavy ground game strategy where he wanted to use some big time ground and pound.  He got it too, but amazingly Balkan was able to survive some serious punishment down for almost two full rounds!  Outside that, Haden pretty much controlled that fight with Balkan only landing a handful of strikes before ending up on the ground each time.

HR:  Since then it seems Haden has refined his technical striking and tends to stay on the feet a lot more.  At least, when he’s not TRYING to get the fight to the ground.  But over time the fighters around him have gotten better on defense and he only occasionally gets to work a good ground and pound, like he did back against Shima to win his first title.  What about Balkan Donkey?

DD:  Balkan hit a bit of a rough go for a bit while at BBFC and HFC until he returned to Sucker Punch.  He returned in grand fashion though with a huge decision victory over Krol last month!  He still comes to the table with a heavy dose of boxing and head shots, so I think this fight could, at least by intention for both fighters, go similar to last time in that Balkan may want to stand and strike while Haden goes to the good ole nasty stuff again.

HR:  Alright, but will it work out the same?

Donkey’s Pick: Haden via TKO (Strikes)

I’m thinking that this time around Balkan is able to mount considerably more offense.  Will it be enough?  That depends upon whether he’s shored up his ground defense.  I want to see it first, as Haden won pretty convincingly last time out!

***********************

Main Event:

Featured Light Heavyweight Bout

Sora Izanagi (11-3-0) v Eemeli Lampi (12-5-0)

a22678ce8b17eace7cb938b6348cabfa.png

HR:  Two fully prepped dudes ready to get at it in the Main Event Donkey!  Nice!  These Light Heavyweights are no joke either as Lampi is a two-time former champ and Izanagi appears to be on the fast track back to Top Contender, something he fell just short of claiming when he lost to ONeill back in December.  Yes, the same ONeill who went on to become champ!

DD:  Two extremely talented fighters here in a battle that should produce a future Top Contender in short order, potentially within the next fight or two after!

HR:  So tell us about both of these guy’s styles Donkey!  I’m already pretty excited for this Main Event just given the amount of wins both carry.

DD:  Izanagi brings a nasty, varied kickboxing game at you while working to get into the clinch the entire time.  And once in the clinch, the really nasty stuff starts happening!  He’s brutal in there and if you let him control it can turn into a really bad night really fast if you’re on the receiving end.  Lampi is a powerful striker who drops bombs and can turn out the lights without his opponent ever seeing it coming.  More than a few have woken up to smelling salts wondering if they’re late for their fight or not!

HR:  So undoubtedly some big time action with two guys who are unlikely to leave the crowd dissatisfied!  There probably won’t be any ground work in this one or a bunch of stalling…expect them to just get at it!  A pick for the final fight here Donks?

Donkey’s Pick:  Lampi via TKO (Strikes)

My entire pick will be turned upside down if Izanagi can control Lampi and get him into the clinch.  But if not, Lampi has scary power and it just takes that one…

SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW

Sucker Punch Pro Series 121

Alright folks, Donkey will be joining me as we quickly attempt to get through a preview for SPPS 21 which will be taking place at the Wombly Arena in London in just about…oh…two hours by the time this piece is fully published!  Had a very busy day out of the house yesterday so no opportunity to get this done in advance.  So…expect a very abbreviated section on each fight this go-round!

No title fights on the card but the Main Card is still stacked at the top with the big boys, Chontamenti and Harrison, headlining and Machado/Blikstein representing the Middleweights in the Co-Main Event.  We’ve also got great fights leading up to that with Furioto/Cobain, Thai/Ecker and Camara/Bolt!

As I said, we’re very short on time, so we’re just gonna jump right into the word from our sponsor and merchandise partner and get to the fun stuff for each fight in more detail!

1584375781SWN.jpg

Our fantastic and respected sponsor is Shadow Warrior Nutrition!   Many of you already know them as the providers of Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, THE energy loss reduction supplements!  For those of you who aren’t in the know on that, you should be, because this is the way you keep your fighter training more often and not taking sessions off to try to keep his energy above 90%!  If you aren’t using this supplement, hurry over and check them out today, you will not be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Undercard Bout #1: Lightweights

Trevor Barnes (9-8-1-0) v Montesh Dominguez (7-11-0)

HR:  Donkey, I’m a bit disappointed here as both fighters come into this a bit unprepared with the morale off.

DD:  And that’s a big part of why they’re opening the card I’d think Hare!  If they were more prepared on the regular they’d probably see more consistent success.

HR:  It looks like the skills are tightly matched for this one, with perhaps Dominguez claiming a small advantage in boxing, Muay Thai and even a tiny bit of wrestling.  But there are no significant differences honestly.

DD:  Correct Hare, so we’ll jump straight to what I expect to see in this fight and my pick I think…

HR:  Ah, just one moment Donkey.  First, let me fill folks in on recent trends and the outlook for these guys.  Dominguez has lost four of his last five fights and comes into this one on a three fight losing streak.  As you might guess, that puts him in a perilous position as we’ve started to trim down some of the weaker portions of the roster in all divisions.  It’s safe to say that tonight is an absolute “must win” for him.   Trevor Barnes comes in with the yo-yo action going on, bouncing between wins and losses one fight after the next.  The morale issues are a direct result of him still, STILL, wearing his tighty whities.  No matter what we do, some managers just won’t listen when it comes to the advice on fixing these things.  He’s not quite on the hot seat yet, but a couple more losses in a row would certainly put him there, and a loss to an unprepared fighter like Dominguez tonight who is on such a losing streak himself would not be a good look.  He needs to win almost as much as Dominguez does.  Ok, now to your pick Donkey!

Donkey’s Pick: Barnes via Unanimous Decision

Dominguez tends to balance his approach between kickboxing and Muay Thai in the clinch.  Barnes sticks more to the kickboxing aspect of things with a ton of leg kicks typically thrown out there. Neither fighter has a history of finishing, so there’s a very good chance this goes to the judges.  I expect that Barnes should come out on top only due to having a bit more success of late and his two most recent losses being to a ground specialist in Furioto.

***********************

Undercard Bout #2: Middleweights

Red Jesus Karter (6-0-0) v Tyson Law (10-8-0)

HR:  Next up we have a Middlweight battle that will see Red Jesus Karter put his perfect 6-0 record on the line against what should be his toughest challenge yet in Law.  Law doesn’t quite have the same record Donkey, but he has the edge in Jiu Jitsu in this one by a bit of a margin and that should make it interesting!

DD:  All very true Hare and Law’s last three wins, although spaced apart a bit with losses in between, have all come via submissions. So the threat is real for Karter tonight.  That said, Karter’s last fight was against Hall and he did a great job of not falling to the many submission attempts that Hall threw at him.  So the potential is there to see him handle Law just as well!

HR:  Karter looks to enjoy staying on the feet and staying separated.  So do we have your classic striker versus grappler contest coming at us here Donkey?  Law does need this win here, as a loss would leave him 2-5 in his last seven over two managers.  That’s getting precariously close to a situation where we would have to consider setting him free.  Give us a pick and your thoughts on how this goes, Donkey!

Donkey’s Pick: Karter via TKO (Strikes)

Your classic matchup is exactly what I expect in this one Hare, as you stated.  Law will undoubted want this on the ground and may even get it there.  The real test will be whether Karter can handle his level of submission and ground skills?  It’s hard to pick against Karter so long as he hasn’t shown a weakness to date!  Law has fallen via strikes before, so the precedent is there as well.  I’ll go with the trend for now until somebody proves otherwise.

***********************

Undercard Bout #3: Heavyweights

Daniel Spong (6-3-0) v Akuma Manivong (6-6-0)

HR:  Next up, some of the big boys head into the cage including my own Manivong there Donkey!  Both fighters are set and ready to go, so this should be a solid fight I’d think?

DD:  It should be, but I’m afraid I have to say that I think your boy is up for a bit of a rough challenge here tonight Hare.  He’ll have the advantage in Muay Thai and a tad bit of boxing, but Spong has the wrestling advantage, a black belt to match Manivong’s and a really nasty streak on the ground mixing up a brutal ground and pound along with sub attempts.  Manivong has shown he doesn’t mind working the ground game for subs, but if Spong controls the action on the ground with his better wrestling and gets into the top position this thing gets ugly fast for your boy Hare!

HR:  Wow, well, that’s a bit of a deflater for team Rumpler right there Donkey!  Thanks for that…not.  But I can’t argue with you.  This may be one that Manivong would be better suited to try to keep on the feet and win with striking perhaps!  So give us your pick Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick: Spong via TKO (Strikes)

Spong has thrown down some vicious shots on the ground lately leaving his last two victims in a pile of blood after doctor stoppages.  He has a serious nasty streak and when you’re talking heavyweights, that’s a lot of aggression and just plain meanness!  I think he probably gets the top at some point here and then it gets ugly…

***********************

Undercard Bout #4: Light Heavyweights

Choctaw Bloode (11-9-0) v Aleks Kuznetsov (10-7-0)

HR:  Wow Donkey!  Two fighters here as get towards the end of the Undercard who have very similar records and also very similar skill sets, at least on paper in primaries!

DD:  Yep, and both are fully prepared!  So it should be a great fight between Kuznetsov and Bloode tonight!  Perhaps one of the better ones on the night and certainly for the Undercard.

HR:  Alright, give us some insight into both here?

DD:  Kuznetsov and Bloode both have had their issues with submission specialists in the past.  Kuznetsov more so than Bloode, as at least Bloode was able to avenge a submission loss to Akerfeldt by coming back with a TKO under new management a couple months later.  That said, even if this fight stays on the feet tonight, which it likely will, we should see some difference in styles as Kuznetsov has a pretty lengthy history of taking the fights deep while Bloode has more a tendency to go for the finish.  And get finished at times as well.

HR:  Bloode definitely needs the win here more than Kuznetsov does and should be hungry for it.  He lost four in a row prior to his win last month and that’s not a great look considering that came after a three fight losing streak that ended with two wins under current management.  Another loss here would likely leave him only one more away from…well…you get it.  So give us your pick Donkey!

Donkey’s Pick: Bloode via TKO (Strikes)

Kuznetsov can be finished and has been.  Bloode will be out for just that tonight.  I expect him to try to push the pace and either gas out Kuznetsov for the late TKO or just flat out bring bombs to try to end it.  That could backfire and turn into a gas out situation in reverse in Kuznetsov’s favor, but I’m going with a gut pick here.

***********************

Undercard Bout #5: Welterweights

Justin Kulina (9-4-0) v Samuel Sanchez (11-8-0)

HR:  Really thrilled here Donkey!  Yet another pairing for this evening that is amped up and ready to get in there!  Both Sanchez and Kulina are representing the Welterweights well as they come into the cage fully prepared to do battle!

DD:  And with both having solid record…Kulina with the slightly better one and hence the reason he’s got the red corner…we can expect a really solid outing tonight from both of these kids.  Sanchez has the edge on the ground in this one, with a very, very small edge in wrestling but a brown belt over Kulina’s purple.  Kulina will be the one with the striking advantage on the feet as he has elite boxing but even a more impressive advantage in Muay Thai.  Should he choose to take it into the clinch tonight.

HR:  So given all that are we looking at a potential striker versus submission battle here?

DD: Probably not the submission part there Hare.  Sure, Sanchez does have the Jiu Jitsu advantage, but more often than not his finishes come from a nasty ground and pound game.  I think the Jiu Jitsu is more there as supplemental, a distraction if you will, and potentially for defense as well.

HR:  But we should definitely see Kulina trying to win this one on the feet with striking I’d think.  And if he wants to keep it off the ground, doing it with boxing rather than the clinch might be the way to go. So, have a pick for us Donkey?

Donkey’s Pick: Kulina via Unanimous Decision

Sanchez has fallen victim to the judges’ scorecards quite a bit of late with an inability to finish the fight. One of those losses was against Kulina’s teammate, Segura as well, so Kelly McGrady is certainly familiar with Sanchez’s tactics.  I think that might give an edge here.

Ok folks, Donkey and I are working hard to get the rest of the preview out here and will be back soon within the hour with the remainder!

Main Card Bout #1: Light Heavyweights

Ibrahim Camara (38-19-1) v Ryan Bolt (4-0-0)

HR:  Main Card time here Donkey!  And with it we get some truly unrestricted, unrestrained action with Bolt and Camara! Bolt, despite being a 346k ID fighter, has only four professional fights under his belt.  But he’s made the most of those with an undefeated record to date.  On the polar opposite side of the spectrum, Camara has a startling number of fights compared to Bolt with close to sixty fights leading into tonight!

DD:  Camara will have the experience advantage here tonight.  But Bolt will have the skill advantage, on paper, as he carries a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and he’s also considerably younger at 28 years old while Camara is 36.  Camara is on the right track now under his new management team, but under prior management had been struggling while at Syn with a 1-3 run over four fights.  His win over Tank Tribute with us here at Sucker Punch last month in addition to the management change I just mentioned may have breathed new life into him and we’ll definitely see that theory tested this evening!

HR:  From what our scouts have told us, Camara is mostly a striker, a boxer.  Bolt, despite having a black belt in Jiu Jitsu, prefers to stay standing and doesn’t mind either boxing or the clinch. Perhaps he focuses on the clinch tonight to put Camara where he’s not as comfortable…or do we see a surprise move to the ground game?

DD:  It’s very difficult to judge where Bolt and his came might take things tonight because of his four professional fights, one was in KT.  So we have to discount that.  Two of his prior MMA fights were QFC battles, so there’s only so much you can take from those also.  The only solid information we have to go by is  his fight last month here at Sucker Punch against Doppo Orochi.  Which he won by focusing on the striking game and going for the TKO.  Given that, we have to assume we’re likely looking at a standup battle tonight.

HR:  So a pick there Donkey?

Donkey’s Pick: Camara via Majority Decision

Camara knows how to win, he’s a former champ from his SMASH/ALPHA-1 days. That was under different management, but Antonio Maximus’ team is competent as well.  I’m still waiting to see more from Bolt and how he handles this challenge as he builds up more credible fights on his resume.  This is going to be a fun one to watch and analyze after!  For now, I’m going with the more known fighter.

Main Card Bout #2: Light Heavyweights

Thai vs. Ecker II

Wille Thai (9-7-0) v Devin Ecker (9-7-0)

HR:  Well Donkey, we may only be two fights into the Main Card here but there is a lot on the line for the participants in this matchup!  The winner of Thai vs. Ecker two, in addition to being able to claim to be the victor in their rematch, will also earn a title shot against Izanagi to re-establish the Light Heavyweight Title here at Sucker Punch!  Nice!

DD:  Well, no pressure there then right for these two?  Haha.  Both are fully prepared, as you’d expect them to be for such a big opportunity, so the best both can bring is what the fans should get this evening at the Wombley.  Thai is historically a ground specialist who loves submissions.  Ecker will have the advantage in all other areas including a slight edge in wrestling.  He’ll use that to try to fend off Thai, but even more than that, he’ll want to use that wrestling to establish dominant position on the ground before he unloads a crushing GnP attack.  As he’s done to more than a few opponents!

HR:  The first time these two met, back in August last year, Ecker won via KO late in the third round.  Do you see that scenario repeating itself Donkey?

DD: It sounds like it’s time for a pick I guess…so let’s do that and discuss…

Donkey’s Pick: Ecker via TKO (Strikes)

If Thai’s defensive grappling and transitions haven’t been beefed up in the past half year it could very well happen.  But at the same time a submission artist is a nasty, dirty, dangerous opponent even when they’re on the bottom. Things can go sideways…or get snapped…quickly out of nowhere in those situations.  So where and how this goes will really depend upon what each has focused on over the past half year, and a little bit of strategy and luck as well.  This is a really, really difficult pick.  I like Ecker’s chance to repeat in this one…but he did get caught by Akerfeldt in a guillotine back in October…so again, this could slip to Thai just as easily.  Did I hedge my pick well enough there?  Ha.

Main Card Bout #3:  Lightweights

Maximus Furioto (17-8-0) v Kurt Cobain (13-8-0)

HR:  Alright Donkey, halfway through the Main Card here and our last bout before the Main Events!  And this should be a fun one!!!  Definitely striker versus ground specialist situation!

DD:  Exactly Hare, and Cobain really, really needs a big performance in this one tonight for a few reasons.  First, he’s lost two in a row…granted, against some of the elite in the division but he himself has been a perennial contender and to get back into contention needs to prove he can beat those guys.  But, more importantly perhaps, he’s struggled a little against ground guys and needs to also show that he can defeat them just as well as he can handle other strikers.  We know he can hit, and hit hard, but can he do it all?  You need to at this level now.

HR:  And we can’t overlook the need that Furioto has for a win here as well Donkey.  And a win against another top competitor is even more on his shopping list!  He’s fallen to Verreira and Ozbourne in the past five fights with only wins over Trevor Barnes who notoriously comes to the cage unprepared from a morale standpoint.

DD:  Correct, if Furioto has any hopes of establishing himself as Top Contender material in the future he needs to win fights like this against Cobain when they’re on the table.  He had a great streak going in his early career, but he needs to show he’s that guy and not the more recent guy who’s also fallen to Yip Man lii. His win over Pablo Itzpapalotltotec showed he has what it takes.  He just has to do it consistently.

HR:  Ok, give us the pick Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick: Furioto via Submission (Armbar)

Another thing that has to be taken into consideration tonight is that Cobain is now with a new management team. You’ve all heard me say before that sometimes that takes a fight or two for the manager and fighter to get on the same page.  I think maybe, MAYBE, that makes the difference here tonight.  This should be a fun, explosive fight that is finished in one manner or another though!  The fans should get what they came for with this one!

Co-Main Event:

Featured Middleweight Bout

Wanderson Machado (17-4-0) v Paulo Blikstein (12-7-1)

HR:  Our Co-Main Event brings star power in Wanderson Machado, former long-time champion here at Sucker Punch in the Middleweight division.  However, what’s shocking to me is that he once again steps into the ring less than prepared with his energy off some. Similar to last month, which led to the loss of the belt.  We thought that this fight was going to potentially be the one that offered him the chance to get a look back at his hardware, but honestly, if he isn’t prepared Blikstein may just salivating at the chance to take out the former champ tonight!

DD:  Blikstein should absolutely be doing just that, salivating!  He’s been one big win away from taking that next big step he needs and starting to string together quality wins that would catapult him into the elite in the division.  Winning three of his last four is a great start, but they were against the fighters just one tier down. He’s lost to the likes of Patterson, Marka, Fuhren, etc. in the past half year and those are the guys he has to start taking out.  Tonight is a HUGE opportunity for him to make a statement within the Middleweight division that the rungs on the ladder are changing!

HR:  Blikstein appears to have the skill advantage with better Jiu Jitsu and ground game as a whole tonight.  But we all know that Machado is a beast with great intangibles who just finds a way.  Can he do it with less than perfect preparation though?

Donkey’s Pick: Blikstein via TKO (Strikes)

Machado will try to keep it on the feet and stand and strike from distance as he tends to do.  He’ll try to wear Blikstein down and then go for the kill with the KO or TKO.  On the other hand, Blikstein has been showing a tendency to go to the ground and work the striking game down there lately. And honestly, I don’t see that as a bad move at all here tonight!  Both should have a chance to finish and win this one.  It’s kinda a toss-up, but when it comes to that, I go with the more prepared fighter as most know!

Main Event:

Featured Heavyweight Bout

Thoth Chontamenti (14-4-0) v Sean Harrison (13-3-0)

HR:  14-4 against 13-3 records in the Main Event? Yep, I love it Donkey!

DD:  It’s the battle of the beasts in just about every way Hare!  The fans are in for a GREAT finish to the evening here with the former Champ going into the cage against an extremely talented Harrison!

HR:  Who has the advantage here Donkey?

DD:  On paper that would be Chontamenti.  All other things equal, his edge appears to be in Jiu Jitsu with his black belt over Harrison’s purple.  Harrison is a power striker though and can finish it before the fight even thinks about getting to the ground.  And he’s a former champ in his own right having owned the championship at CMMA for the longest time.  Which is why he got an immediate opportunity here last month but ended up coming up a bit short…or bloody as the case may be…against Shima…having the fight called by the docs due to cuts.  That one had to hurt a bit, but it was a slasher film going on in the cage!

HR:  It’s tempting to say that Thoth has been struggling more lately than he ever did over his career, but is that even fair to say really?

DD:  It is and it isn’t Hare.  Yes, he has lost the title and failed to get it back on two different occasions.  But the roadblock has been Shima, the eternal thorn in his side!  Shima seems to be his kryptonite and the fact that Harrison lost to Shima as well makes this all the more interesting!

HR:  So let’s get a pick here and finish up the preview Donkster!

Donkey’s Pick:  Chontamenti via Submission (Armbar)

I’m guessing that Thoth takes this one to the ground rather than playing the, “I hit you hard, you hit me hard back” game with Harrison.  The question will be how does Harrison handle that given the difference in Jiu Jitsu?  We know this is Harrison’s last fight with us, and undoubtedly he wants to go out with a huge BANG!  Chontamenti would love to use this fight to catapult him to yet another title shot.  Big things on the line here!

145 lbs, Sucker Punch Pro Series
16-6-0
100% win rate by stoppage, 14 by (t)KO, 2 by sub!

Midget boring? Not on my watch!
Got my fancy belt back and did so in style, avenging my previous loss against Petsuwan Sitsongrit and made a bloody mess out of him. 11days of injuries and 16days worth of cuts for him, you are welcome guys!

Sitsongrit misses with a leg kick
and Chulalongkorn counters with a lovely straight right hand!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Petsuwan Sitsongrit's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Magnificent Chulalongkorn!
Magnificent Chulalongkorn is the new featherweight champion!
Magnificent Chulalongkorn managed to slip a mention for his sponsors, Paddy's Enhancing Drugs (160Q), into his post fight interview.

Sucker Punch Pro Series 122

Post Event Cheap Shots

with Risa Roo!

Hello devoted and valued Sucker Punch fans. Risa here, coming at you with the review. Hare assigned this one to me, a college student with three exams on one Friday, so it’s been a little delayed due to time management difficulties and fried brain cells. But I’m here and ready to deliver you the latest updates in on Sucker Punch Pro Series 122. Here we go!

Note from Hare:  I apologize in advance for 1) how abusive this girl is to our fighters at times...sheesh, how many times I gotta tell these kids of mine to not run off our org!...and 2) for the mouth of a sailor that apparently this kid has developed since going off to college!  I stopped counting the F'bombs after about a half dozen or more...wow.  And I thought I was bad!

First fight of the night was between Bjorn Akerfeldt and Abraham Barnes. Akerfeldt was said to have the advantage going into the fight. He’s a “Cardio Machine” apparently, however that’s defined. Like what, an elliptical? I hate those fuckers, talk about a workout.  Big submission move guy, it showed in this fight. Sub attempt, reversal, sub attempt, reversal. Actually, I’ll say that I complain a lot about sub attempts (like just hit em, it’s more fun that way) but at least with Akerfeldt they’re not literally back-to-back and there’s some other moves mixed into the fight. Clearly they weren’t working out for him though since Barnes clearly dominated the entire fight, and sealed the deal in the last round with a little POW POW POW! TKO! Smacked Akerfeldt so hard he’s not gonna remember this fight in the morning.

Tldr; Winner: Barnes! Loser: Akerfeldt! (Suck it bro)

Fight number two of the night was between Tytus Aleksy and Bea Mason. Just to give full coverage of not just the fight, but the experience of the night, our lovely commentator stated before the fight “Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!” Not even a single idea? What do we pay you for then? Personally, my money was on Tytus (we’re on a first name basis now buddy, take it or leave it), for no reason other than I like his name better. Sorry Bea, but Bea is a girl’s name. This fight didn’t even last the full first round. We got a few minutes of some fairly interesting back and forth action before BAM! BAM BAM BAM! Outta nowhere Tytus catches Mason (at least that’s a boys name) with a nasty hook. Few more swings and Mason’s gonna have more than a headache whenever he comes back to his senses from that beating. Good punching Tytus.

Tldr; Winner: Home boy Tytus! Loser: Bea

Fight number three! This one is between Repus Revorg and Adrian Atkins. Atkins is out here looking like he just got electrocuted with that frizzy ass hair. Some Frizz-Ease (not sponsored, please sponsor me) would go a long way pal. No comment on Revorg (he’s scary, send help, he has a flamethrower I think). Revorg was anticipated to have the upper hand by our LOVELY commentator. This fight went all three rounds to the judges for a decision, but since it only had a rating of 61%, I’m just going to skim it since clearly it wasn’t great (I never said it was bad, don’t get your panties in a twist, mister managers. I just said not great). Here’s what I got out of it, since Hare likes to say I don’t talk enough about the actual fighting, though I’m pretty sure that’s Donkey’s job. Slacker. Revorg hit Atkins. Atkins hit Revorg. Atkins hits harder and dominated all three rounds. As our LOVELY commentator put it, Atkins “was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.” Literally no one asked you dude, but ok if you say so. Someone sounds a little biased, I’m sure Revorg tried his best. Atkins obviously took the win from the judges, since our commentator is never wrong.

Tldr; Winner: Atkins Loser: Revorg

Fight number four of the night was between Jairzinho Teixeira and Rodney Farva. Teixeiera’s walk out song was Eye of the Tiger, classic. But also, basic, do better be more creative. Both guys supposedly have “very solid chins.” Farva has a “granite chin” though, so I’m not sure how Tieixeiera can compare. Unless his is made of obsidian or something that can’t break ever. First round of the fight went swimmingly. And by that, I mean swimming in blood, since Farva got cut early in the round. Gross. You’re bleeding everywhere dude. That’s how diseases are spread. Little bit of action. POW, BAM, you know how it goes. Four minutes in, and OUCH, Farva’s cut got opened more. YOU’RE BLEEDING EVERYWHERE BRO. Gross. Teieixeieira dominated the first round, the cut man (is that really the technical term we use around here?) worked on Farva’s cut. Round two came and went in about 13 seconds, since Teieiexieieiera seemed to be bored of the fight. KAPOW! Some monster swings and hits sealed the deal. TKO!

Tldr; Winner: Teieieiexiieieieieiera, Loser: Farva

Fight number 5 was between Radu Dracul and Mike Bard. Dracul has some long ass hair, what do you condition with bro? Commentator: “Both of these guys have really solid chins” literally shut the fuck up dude you’ve said that about literally every single fighter, no one asked. I hate this guy. Can we fire him, please? Who’s in charge here? This fight wasn’t the most exciting, but one round was all it took for it to wrap up, a couple sub attempts and a little bit of back-and-forth swings, then BAM! TKO win for Dracul! Nice one Dracula, back to Transylvania as a winner you shall go. Clearly Bard was having a rough day, go eat a protein shake bottle and shake it off pal. You’ll be fine.

Tldr; Winner: Count Dracula Loser: Mikey Bardy

Fight number 6 was between Igor Warlovski and Aboubacar Mandiang. Spoiler alert: This won the fight of the night award. It went all three rounds to the judges. It was an overall swell fight; both of these guys clearly know how to throw punches and take hits (granite chins). The crowd was loving every second of the fight, so I’m sure that kept the guys motivated and feeling the adrenaline to push harder. That being said, Aboubacar Mandiang clearly dominated in all three rounds, though he got a nice souvenir in the form of a nasty cut from Warlovski to take home with him, and it was no surprise he got the unanimous decision at the end. Aboubacar abracadabra you win. I’m sure Donkey will have some deep insight as to what such an outstanding fight means for these fellows, especial Mandiang. It’s always fun when the fight of the night isn’t the headline match.

Tldr; Mandiang won, Warlovski tried his best I guess

Fight number seven was between Ashwin Tyson and Peter Beardsley. Peter’s a dumb name. Dweeb name. Chess player name. These guys were pretty well matched going in from what I was told, so this fight should have been pretty evenly matched and back and forth. It was not. Less than a round was all it took, just under four minutes to be slightly more exact. Beardsley got cut within the first minute, ouch. Everyone’s getting cut and busted up today. The, just past two minutes in, WHAP, Tyson got cut. Go Beardsley, even the playing field! Three minutes in, sub attempt, sub attempt. Beardsley’s tryna wrap this one up early I see. AND IT WORKED. Submission win for Beardsley via an Arm Triangle. Yay, I was rooting for you all along pal. Despite a hard loss, Tyson had some wise, wise words for the audience post fight: “Huh?” Couldn’t have said it better myself pal. Very inspiring.

Tldr; Beardsley won. Tyson has a back up career as a motivational speaker if he keeps losing.

Fight number eight. Chip Nickel and Joseph DeAngelo. Please, for the love of whatever higher powers there may be, please win DeAngelo. I hate everything about Chip. Everything. Just from looking at his picture. Quite the punchable face. And he kept the crowd waiting. What an asshole. Whoever Chip’s manager is, not hate, but I hate Chip. Nothing personal, just please take this personally. Commentator: “These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet” literally shut the fuck up you say the same two things every time, get creative or get the fuck out. This fight lasted about two and a half minute, super speedy. So many fast fights at this event, I hope the fans feel as though they go their money’s worth. I know I do. I love seeing people get knocked out. This fight was yet another TKO win, for Chip. Hm. Was kinda a boring fight. I’m sure it was just an off day for DeAngelo, he’s definitely better than Chip.

Tldr; Chip won, I guess. I’m still a DeAngelo fan.

Fight number nine! Second to last fight of the night! This one was between Baldomir Barbosa and Darry Curtis. “Both fighters look fresh as a daisy” literally what the FUCK is the commentator talking about oh my goshhhhh shut UP! Anyway, sorry about that, he just inspires a rage in me. The fight, yeah, this one didn’t go all of the rounds either. One round and a bit of the second round, and this one got wrapped up. But don’t worry, still some good action in this one. Darry Curtis caught a left from Barbosa that left a nasty cut. Ouch, the cut guy is working for a living today. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger though, and he seemed to dominate the first round regardless. Barbosa got a nice lil smack on the booty as motivation for the second round. A little good luck tap I suppose. It worked, because after a minute into the round, he laid the smack down on Curtis, KAPOW, BOP, POW! Wind it up… BAM! Curtis is out cold. KO! I love KOs. They’re my favorite. Barbosa had a bit of an ego after the fight. I’ll only let it slide this time because KOOOOOOO!

Tldr; Curtis is taking a nap, Barbosa is the winner.

LAST FIGHT OF THE NIGHT! I am on a roll here with these, I’ve been writing so fast. It’s amazing what happens when I actually take my ADHD meds (yes, this is me on the meds). This was a CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHHHHH between the reigning, defending, undisputed Petsuwan Sitsongrit and some guy named Magnificent Chulalongkorn. Now, a bit of backstory to explain why my attitude will be so unbiased during this fight. Before I started writing, Hare got a message from Chula’s manager. I don’t know his name, I don’t care about his name. In said message, he said to tell me to write about what a badass Chula is for being on a run and avenging his only loss and blah blah blah blah blah. Anyway, I am a professional, and I will not be told to write in a biased fashion. I am collected, mature, and kind. So, all I have to say to Chula is that yes, he won, yes, he has a belt now, and yes, he’s ugly. The fight didn’t go all the way to a decision (thankfully) and quite frankly, it was one of the less exciting ones of the night, if there wasn’t a championship on the line, I probably would have glossed over it. Chula gave Sitsongrit a nasty cut in the first round. Round two? Sub attempt, sub attempt, sub attempt, sub attempt. Chula, at least hit him a few times in between, come on man. You’re not helping your case here. Round three. New strategy apparently, no more submission attempts from Chula. BOP! Nasty hit made Sitsongrit’s cut worse. Ouchie. A little more action went by before Sitsongrit had to get pulled by the doctor. TKO (cut) win for Chula. Bah, seems like a cheap way to win. Should have knocked him out or something. Team Sitsongrit forever.

Tldr; Chula smells funny, you didn’t hear it from me. Also he has a new belt or something now I guess.
