Rei
Haven't posted in about a month as I'm trying to step back from the game a bit but something has irked me enough to come back to the forums. Avatar Rejected Note: not avatary enough http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15855881102822.png So I ask you, the general public - would you have approved or rejected the above? and is Mike's rejecting of it fair or arbitrary? For some help answering the questions, here's some examples of recently accepted avatars that mike calls "avatary enough". This is by no means a criticism or attack of the avatar creators or the managers that use them, I only chose these subjects as I believe them to go against Mike's supposed "guidelines" I mean come on, three of them are the same dude's real face just blurred and placed on a stock image lmao Stay safe boys and try not to get the kung-flu
bjornmma1
Criteria seem pretty random, altough it has to be said that is always going to be subjective anyway.PS: at least your avatars get a 'reply'. My submitted avatar (bought for 500k) has been pending since almost two weeks now.

The examples you gave are very clear and some of them are so far beyond acceptable, that it's laughable. He apparently approved avatars that were submitted less than a week ago, but mine from two weeks ago not yet. It must be love
Bwang
Those ones that have already been accepted are appalling - certainly in terms of being avatary enough. Very inconsistent, and infuriatingly subjective depending on how he’s feeling on the day. Sometimes you can resubmit exactly the same avatar that has been rejected before and he accepts it the next time. I have also submitted an image I found on google and did no avatar tweaking or editing at all - and it was accepted!

I've done exactly that, twice actually lol I've noticed people submitting just human faces with filters on them and getting through the checks somehow

imcool
Mike doesn't follow any standards or rules. He approves whatever he wants, and rejects whatever he wants. Then, when you try to give him examples of the things he approved, he tells you "don't focus on the work of others, but improve your own". It's a joke, but it's been the same joke for years.
The1rstSaint
May be time we bring skins back to the show? Mike may just have done so many avatar checks he is bored with the idea, or it may be messing with his eyes... who knows.

barney
Before saying "dont focus on the work of others" usually he starts with "you are annoying", "your avatar is shit" and "go the forum with your shit avatar if you are not happy". Than, he goes as you say.Dunno if I will even stay active at the game, it really cut my buzz. Definetely quitting the avatar business. Mike doesn't follow any standards or rules. He approves whatever he wants, and rejects whatever he wants. Then, when you try to give him examples of the things he approved, he tells you "don't focus on the work of others, but improve your own". It's a joke, but it's been the same joke for years. Thats why Im going back to shirts instead of avatars. Also, I can photoshop a black dick at Mike's mouth and wont have to deal with censorship. Free press. May be time we bring skins back to the show? Mike may just have done so many avatar checks he is bored with the idea, or it may be messing with his eyes... who knows. I really appreciate you using Pucy McGraber avatar in this rant, as I submit a lot of avatars I made and got shit replies from him. This B&W Donald Trump was one I made thinking it would be rejected just to make his avatar submission list crowded - and it was the only one getting accepted. Well, at least I changed mouth, nose, eyes and added a avatar beard... imcool
The only "sure way" of getting an avatar approved is w/ a full face transfer(eyes+nose+mouth) with a smooth color blend. This I understand, moving just they eyes, or just the nose really ISN'T avatar-y enough. With that said, if you're going to set a standard and have "rules", you need to follow your own fucking rules. You can't accept some "not avatar-y" enough avatars and reject other similar ones. Pure fucking retardation. Could totally see people losing motivation to make avatars because of Mikes mood-dependent approvals/rejections.

Smooth blend too litle and its "not blending enough". But then again, he accepts 3 times a Khabib not shoped avatar. This Khabib avatar was accepted more than once for different managers. Shards
I'd reject it but I'd also reject a number of the examples, so unfair. There's a number of them that would hit 'too realistic' to pass for me. Edit: Just fuck up his eyes a bit and maybe make his nose a little cartoony and you got an avatar in my mind. Edit2: changed my mind, nose seems fine looking again.

A "game feature" shouldn't be dependent on a moderators opinion on something. There should be a set of rules. If the rules are followed, an avatar is accepted. If the rules are not followed, rejected. Simple.

And again, that is inconsistent with a lot of others, but in this particular case, it's probably why. I agree, leave the nose, add the eyes a bit more obviously from base avatar so they don't blend so realistically, and the mouth is probably a no-go on why it didn't slide through. Heck, just changing the mouth alone might get it through.

Heck, just changing the mouth alone might get it through. I think just tweaking the eye a little bit would be a green most of the times, looking at previously accepted avatars. But then again, thats what I did with Avakai Greene and it got rejected. And there is no guarantee. Blend to much, its not "avatary". Make it more evident, even tho you are using eyes, mouth, nose AND beard, "its not blending enough" http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15864586265769.png
Shards
What is 'too avatary' really, can we address that? You're submitting an avatar, it's supposed to look like an avatar. Too avatary should mean that you just copy/paste the eyes on a real photo, once you put blending into it you should still want to see the avatar in it. There should be better or worse blends being accepted but I don't think it should be unacceptable unless it looks like a 12 second paste job or a lifelike human features. popart
Thats a shame man, you make some great work. I can imagine how frustrating it is to put some actual work into a game, only for the standards to waver. Anyone else see this monstrosity that passed through awhile back? Gave me a good laugh. http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15859580668529.png
Rei
What is 'too avatary' really, can we address that? It can be whatever Mike feels, because its a subjective criteria. Bear in mind that this is just a single example lads, I'm not being a crybaby over one avatar getting rejected lol. It becomes a problem when there's tons of examples of hypocrisy because Mike disregards the rules he himself established. I have on occasion submitted the same avatar twice, without changing anything about it and had the piece accepted on the second attempt - more than once.

The first on the left was "clearly edited, but it doesnt look like any avatar on the bank". Well, thats kinda why I want a custom avatar anyway, Im not into what's already avaiable at the avatar bank. But even tho it has avatar nose and eyes well blended. Also, the first on the right was denied cause "not avatary". They are all not 12 second paste job and all clearly edited... But most of the times he accepts worse.
