  2. HFC 68 - Bulb vs Sosa 2 - Preview Hello MMA fans, I'm Alexei Smirnov here today to bring you your preview of HFC 68. Big rematch in the main event tonight and lots of other great fights. The fans in New York watching it live will not be disappointed! Undercard: Vinny Doom vs Ginger Lee My pick: Doom via TKO (Strikes) Nusrat "The Night Stalker" Baigan vs Elijah "Eazy E" Judah My pick: Baigan Via TKO (Strikes) Kaoru Hanayama vs Liam Walker Hanayama via Submission (Armbar) Harry Olsen vs "The British Bulldog" Bald Martin My pick: Martin via Unanimous Decision Platinum Fox vs "Billy BarxXx" Billy Bob Brown My pick: Bob Brown via Unanimous Decision Rakeem "Jamaican Beast" Marley vs Basko "MadDawg" Godwin My pick: Godwin via TKO (Strikes) Main Card: "The Sage of the Cage" Aatreya Mahrishi vs Nick "The Black Belt Slayer" Rodriguez Now we have “The Sage of the Cage” Aatreya Mahrishi (7-3-0) taking on Nick “The Black Belt Slayer” Rodriguez (6-3-0). The last time Mahrishi fought was all the way back at HFC 42 where we lost to Ralph McGuire. Nick is coming off of two straight wins via Sub and despite his name saying otherwise Nick is only a brown belt at the moment. Maharishi will need to keep this fight standing if he wants any chance to win as Rodriguez is clearly a lot more comfortable on the mat. Maharishi also has great KO power so he’ll look to use that to end the fight before Nick can get a takedown. Nick will want to secure that takedown and look for another sub. He’ll also not want to take many shots and luckily for him he does have a good chin. Mahrishi’s blue belt is a really big weakness for him and Nick will look to abuse that. Mahrishi has a notable win over Joao Andrade where he got a big decision win. Rodriguez’s most recent win over Svensson was quite a good one and showed how he can exploit fighter’s with bad ground games. Overall a real clash of styles between these two, who will come out on top? My pick: Rodriguez via Submission (RNC) I do think “The Black Belt Slayer” will pick up the win. I just don’t think Mahrishi can defend well enough against the takedown and even getting just one should be enough to end the fight right there. Mahrishi will need a fast KO in order to win here otherwise I think Nick will pick up another Sub win. Overall an interesting fight for sure. Boxing "The Mailman" Mcsparr vs Wesley Taurus Up next it’s Boxing “The Mailman” Mcsparr (9-6-0) taking on Wesley Taurus (10-5-0). Mcsparr is coming off three KO wins and has a lot of momentum on his side. Taurus has been fighting more in KT and won his last KT fight. I don’t have much doubt that this fight will stay on the feet and that there will be a lot of striking. I mentioned Mcsparr’s KO wins and it goes to show how amazing his striking is and could KO just about anyone. I doubt he’ll want to go to the ground. I think he’ll just be looking for a finish. Taurus is a kickboxer like I mentioned and he’ll definitely want to keep this fight standing. Mcsparr seems to out box Taurus and we’ll see how this will affect the fight. Mcsparr’s last win over Pryor was quite an impressive one and his Superman Punch KO continues to be one of my favorite finishes to a fight. Taurus' decision win over Pinto was quite a good one at HFC 58. Overall a great stand up fight! My pick: Mcsparr via KO (Punch) I see Mcsparr getting yet another KO win here. Taurus doesn’t have the greatest chin and Mcsparr has great KO power and there’s little way Taurus can avoid it. One clean shot from Mcsparr and it’s over. With another win here Mcsparr can see himself climbing even higher up the rankings. Overall a great fight for sure! Ademaro "A.D.A" Dos Anjos vs Vasil Petrov Now it’s time for the co-main event. It's Ademaro “A.D.A” Does Anjos (15-3-0) taking on Vasil Petrov (11-2-1). ADA is coming off a big loss to cut, feels bad for him and he’ll look to bounce back. Petrov is coming off a huge KO win over Malcolm King and has a lot of momentum. ADA will want to control the fight and take it to the ground where Petrov’s power is less useful and ADA can look for a sub finish. Petrov will want to defend the takedown. Petrov will want to use his KO power to look for a finish early before ADA can start looking for takedowns and subs. His brown belt in BJJ should also help him stuff the takedown or defend against the sub. Now of course ADA could try to stand and strike with Petrov but, I think that’d be a very bad idea. ADA’s achievements is a very long list but, some things to not are that he’s a former HFC middleweight and former HFC fighter of the year. ADA has been to the top of HFC yet he’s been having a bit of a rough patch as of recently. This is only Petrov’s second fight in HFC but he's achieved lots of success outside of HFC including winning two belts in outside promotions. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do in HFC. Both fighters have clear gameplans and will look to execute them, who will win? Let’s find out! My pick: Petrov via TKO (Strikes) I don’t normally pick against ADA but, recently I’ve been losing some faith in him. Petrov made a huge splash in his last fight and I don’t know if ADA can finish him before Petrov is able to get some good strikes in. Petrov also seems to have a decent enough ground game to not get subbed instantly. Still a really close fight and anyone can win. Overall a great co-main event! MAIN EVENT: Adim "Lights Out" Bulb vs Marcello "Hurricane" Sosa 2 It’s finally time for the main event of the evening for the HFC Featherweight championship! It’s the champ Adim “Lights Out” Bulb (9-3-0) taking on the challenger Marcello “Hurricane” Sosa (14-2-1). The rematch of the century as these two face off for the belt after Bulb got the split decision win to crown himself champ. Breaking Sosa’s long reign as champ and changing the whole featherweight division. In their last fight Bulb managed to do best when striking with the champ and worse in the clinch. Now Bulb could just go in striking but I don’t see him getting a KO against Sosa’s chin. Now like I mentioned in my preview of their first fight, I think Bulb could do wonders on the ground as it’s a bit of a weak spot for Sosa. Bulb has already shown he can sub an opponent and he’ll only be looking for another decision if he goes in striking. Sosa in the last fight was not accurate enough in his striking and that ultimately cost him the belt. If I were Sosa I would try a similar strategy and go for the clinch as he does have better MT than Bulb. Really he should just be looking for a finish although that’s easier said than done against Bulb. This is really just the fight of iron chins as neither of these fighters have been KO’d in their entire career. Their last fight was super close and I don’t see this being different. Bulb has many achievements, his best one being his featherweight title he holds at the moment. Bulb also has great wins and his best win is against Sosa, wonder where I’ve heard that name before? Sosa is a man of many many achievements with his great winning streak and lost title run as featherweight champ. Sosa’s win against Petchuanglek Sitsongrit getting a big decision win. Who do I think will win in the main event rematch? Let’s find out! My pick: Sosa via Unanimous Decision I really think Bulb had the surprise factor in their last fight and now that Sosa knows his tricks I think Sosa can regain his belt. Now I really don’t see a finish here as both fighters have great chins and I do see this going to decision again. Sosa is just too dominant to lose twice but, if Bulb can pull it off I’ll be very impressed. Overall a main event of epic proportions. Predicted KO of the night: Boxing Mcsparr Predicted Sub of the night: Nick Rodriguez Predicted Fight of the night: Adim Bulb vs Marcello Sosa Another great HFC event, we have some great fights and an interesting main event. Lots of big stuff could go down today. I’m Alexei Smirnov, have a great day and remember to… STAY HARDCORE

  8. Risa Roo Reviews... Sucker Punch Pro Series 52! Heyo Sucker Punch fans. It’s Risa, back at it again with another review! Hare procrastinated AGAIN and had to rope me into doing this one for him. Considering that I shouldn’t be working during these hours, I think I should be getting paid overtime. Fund my chicken nugget addiction. On to the fights! *********************** Undercard Bout #1: Welterweights Justin Kulina Defeats Baldimir Zsofka via Unanimous Decision First fight of the night was between Justin Kulina and Baldimir Zsofka. Kulina looks like the kind of guy who orders his steak well-done and doesn’t see anything wrong with that. Just an observation. When I chatted with Donkey before the fight he told me that he felt it could go either way in terms of who wins, and both of our fighters certainly had something to prove. It was a good three round fight that ultimately went to a decision. These fighters clearly have a lot of respect for each other. They shared a crisp high five in the last minute of the fight in between hits and swings. BESTIE VIBES! Kulina ultimately took the win. Nice job brochacho. *********************** Undercard Bout #2: Lightweights Pure Striker Defeats Venali Paetmar via Unanimous Decision Fight number two! It’s between Venali Paetmar and Pure Striker. These two dudes are polar opposites. Paetmar’s face is so big, but hair is so small. Striker’s face is so small, but hair is SO big. Like bro. Get some Frizz-Ease (not an ad, sponsor me please Frizz-Ease, Hare doesn’t pay me enough). Donkey predicted that Paetmer would win this one by way of TKO (I WISH) but this fight went to a decision. BO-RING. Despite coming in EXTREMELY unprepared with almost no morale, Striker pulled out the win. Yikes, not a good look for Paetmar to lose this one. His manager should make him run suicides until he pukes. *********************** Undercard Bout #3: Lightweights Conor Aldo Defeats Tua Graves via KO (Punches) Fight 3! This fight was between Conor Aldo and Tua Graves. Donkey picked it and Donkey was right. KO!!! Aldo knocked out Graves in 30 seconds. WOOP WOOP! If it wasn’t for Aldo’s ego I’d say he could be one of my favorite fighters. But you know what they say, a bad attitude makes a bad… I don’t know, a bad something. I’ll get back to you all on that. Anyway, awesome KO, sucks to be Graves tonight. *********************** Undercard Bout #4: Heavyweights Zygmunt Krol Defeats Ultima Kekkonen via TKO (Strikes) Fight 4! It’s between Zygmunt Krol and Ultima Kekkonen. Kekkonen kinda looks like that one dude from WWE. Kinda wack. Maybe they’re long lost cousins. How crazy would that be? Two rounds went by and it seemed that Kekkonen had the upper hand throughout the fight. Start of the third round. BAM BOP POW KABLAM!! Krol comes swinging and pummels Kekkonen into the ground. TKO! Kekkonen you were so close! Your WWE brethren would be disappointed in you. *********************** Undercard Bout #5: Heavyweights Andre Powell Defeats Lanuola Sefina via KO (Punches) Fight five! It’s between Lanuola Sefina and Andre Powell. Sefina looks like a Soundcloud rapper who thinks he’s going to make it big but only gets 100 streams per song. Yes, you can quote me on that. The match lasted just under two and a half minutes. Speedy match! Guess how it ended. No you have to guess! I’m not telling you unless you guess right. Yes! KO!!!! I love me a good KO (and in my professional opinion all KOs are good KOs). I’m watching WWE while reviewing this fight. You know they barely have any good KOs anymore. Bring the Big Show back. Sorry! Sorry! Back to Sucker Punch! Powell won with a mean KO! Sefina dropped to the ground instead of dropping verses this time I guess. Stick to Soundcloud rapping my guy. *********************** Main Card Bout #1: Lightweights Guy River Defeats Ramon Rabbit via Unanimous Decision Fight 6! It’s between Guy River and Ramon Rabbit. River just got back from a business meeting with Al Capone, and while he’s still dressed for the meeting, I’m sure he’s ready to throw some hands! Donkey also picked TKO for this fight, but this one went to a decision. This fight was a pretty good one. There weren’t a ton of big moments, much to my disappointment, but it was a fun and fast paced fight. Ultimately River took the win with the unanimous decision. I told you he was ready to throw some hands. *********************** Main Card Bout #2: Heavyweights Patrick Murphy Defeats Hero Shima via Unanimous Decision Fight numero seven! It’s between Patrick Murphy and Hero Shima. Murphy looks like a 25-year-old hipster who orders his coffee with oat milk and plans to leave his boring desk job to be a travel blogger someday even though he knows deep down it’s not going to happen. Shima looks like a badass who took on a whole army alone and won. Now I know we aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but my money is on Shima. Now did I read Hare and Donkey’s preview for this fight? Nope! Am I going to? Nope. I’m basing this purely on looks. This wasn’t the best fight of the night by far, and it went all three rounds so you can imagine the yawning that has ensued on my end. Shima went for a plethora (SAT word!) of sub attempts but none were successful. Ultimately Murphy took the win. Well cover me in feathers and send me out into the lake because I was a silly goose for judging Murphy so fast. I still think he gets his coffee with oat milk. *********************** Main Card Bout #3: Lightweights Yip Man Iii Defeats Repus Revorg via Unanimous Decision Fight 8! It was between Yip Man Iii and Repus Revorg. I don’t know who Revorg’s manager is, but can someone who does reach out and gently suggest Revorg see someone like a therapist. He seems to be projecting rage in the form of arson. Slightly concerning. Just slightly. This was another match that went all three rounds to a decision. Another fun, fast passed match with lots of good fighting for sure. Ultimately, Iii took the win. Nice job bro! He was very humble after the fight too, what a standup guy. Edit by Donkey: Revorg is Hare’s dude and pretty funny that Risa didn’t realize that and just blasted on our guy! Ouch. *********************** Co-Main Event: Light Heavyweight Championship Bout John Doe Defeats Eemeli Lampi via Unanimous Decision Fight 9! This one’s a CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH between John Doe and Eemeli Lampi. 5 rounds for the LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLDDDDDDD! Woo! Exciting! Man was this an exciting match! The best up until this point, which is to be expected from a championship match. Both fighters left their all out there, with Doe wanting to retain and prove why he’s the champ and Lampi wanting to take home a shiny new title. Ultimately it went to the scorecards, and DOE RETAINS! Not surprising considering he dominated every round. Lampi put up a good fight but was no match for the reigning champ. *********************** Main Event: Middleweight Championship Bout Landon McGuire Defeats Wilfred Ainsworth via Unanimous Decision LAST FIGHT OF THE NIGHT! Whew, I need a Capri-Sun (also no sponsored please sponsor me Capri-Sun) after all of this writing. This match is between Landon McGuire and Wilfred Ainsworth McGuire walked out to a Godsmack song. Nice choice! 10/10 on the song choice. Now I was made aware of an exchange between Hare and Runt about this match. Donkey supposedly jinxed Ainsworth by actually picking him as the winner, since apparently the only other time Donkey picked Ainsworth to win a match, he lost. Geez Donkey. Why’d you have to do him like that bro? Rude. This title watch wasn’t quite as great as the last match, but it was still an engaging and exciting match and both fighters put up a good showing. After 5 long rounds of action, MCGUIRE RETAINS! Poor Ainsworth, Donkey really is an ass for jinxing you, huh? No title changes tonight my friends. Next headline fight: Runt vs Donkey: Revenge for Ainsworth. *********************** So there we have it Sucker Punch fans! I’ll probably go back through tomorrow and edit this up a little bit more, perhaps adding in at least Donkey’s Takeaways to give a feel for where these fights left our guys in the grand scheme of things. In the meantime, hope you enjoyed and let’s have some great fights over at the Bondi tonight for SPPS 53! Till then, have fun and don’t forget… Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

  20. SUCKER PUNCH PREVIEW Sucker Punch Pro Series 53 Welcome back Sucker Punch faithful! We’re getting ready for SPPS 53 this evening and a ton of action that will dictate who moves up, who moves down and who can make name for themselves within the divisions! No titles on the line this evening, but that doesn’t mean this won’t be a blast over at the Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney! As always, I’m Hare Rumpler and will be alongside my pal and analyst, Donkey “Dan” as we get ready for some outstanding action in the cage this evening! Much of the action tonight will revolve around the lower end of the weight class spectrum with three Featherweight bouts on tap, a pair of Welterweight contests and then some middle of the road stuff with a Lightweight battle between Maximus Furioto and Bobolo Jubbly to start off the Main Card, then a Middleweight showdown between Sean Smith and Longsun Zhao and a Light Heavyweight bout between Andrei Averyanov and Abraham Barnes! Those will take place midway through the Main Card and Undercard respectively. Your featured bouts this evening will be the Featherweight showdown between Petsuwan Sitsongrit and Mickey Dismantle in the Co-Main Event and the Main Event Welterweight fight between Carter Ortiz and Rick Segura! So, with all that said, let’s get a word about our sponsor and merchandise partner and move onto the good stuff! Our fantastic and respected sponsor is Shadow Warrior Nutrition! Many of you already know them as the providers of Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q., THE energy loss reduction supplements! For those of you who aren’t in the know on that, you should be, because this is the way you keep your fighter training more often and not taking sessions off to try to keep his energy above 90%! If you aren’t using this supplement, hurry over and check them out today, you will not be disappointed! Now, let's get to it! *********************** Undercard Bout #1: Sparring Battle Gaizka Elizondo (0-0-0) vs. Sun Lutang (0-0-0) Things will get rolling this evening with a little three minute, one round sparring contest between two of Laz Staz’ young kids who are hoping to make a big impression and end up a permanent part of the Staz Stable! Not much really to say here as neither kid has any official cage experience so far. Elizondo appears to have a bit more training under his belt as he’ll have the wrestling advantage tonight but other than that your guess is as good as ours what happens here. It doesn’t really matter though as this spin around the cage is really just about seeing what these kids have under the covers and how one takes and handles a loss. Donkey, thoughts…? Donkey’s Pick: Nope I don’t make picks for sparring bouts but this is like Hare said. A chance to see if maybe one kid has a great chin, maybe the other has some serious KO power…or, maybe they simply enjoy gardening, moonwalking and bleeding out. Let’s hope not in the latter scenarios at least! *********************** Undercard Bout #2: Featherweights Jihadi Joseph (2-1-0) vs. Akara Kongsangchai (2-7-0) As we get the real action going with our second fight on the card we’ve got two very, very evenly matched opponents. Joseph will have the edge in boxing and wrestling while Kongsangchai has the distinct advantage in Muay Thai. Kongsangchai has been on a serious losing streak of late though with four in a row coming into this fight. And seven of the last eight! Ouch. That’s more than ugly, that’s just brutal! Kongsangchai typically attempts to get into the clinch and work from there. The issue seems to be that perhaps his supporting skills just aren’t fine-tuned enough to support his clinch game. Even when he does get into the clinch he tends to come out a little behind many times in the exchanges in there. You would expect that given it’s his advantage this evening, he will try to put it there again…but has he made enough adjustments in training to be the more effective fighter if he can dictate the fight going there? Joseph makes his Sucker Punch debut this evening and undoubtedly he’ll want to reproduce the success he had against Hooper two fights back. In that fight he was able to use solid striking along with a bit of clinch to work his opponent over and get the TKO finish. He may want to forego the clinch tonight given he’ll be the lesser skilled in Muay Thai, but if he doesn’t and he still succeeds then there are bigger issues for Kongsangchai than we thought. Donkey…? Donkey’s Pick: Joseph via TKO (Strikes) I’m making this pick for simple reasons Hare. Kongsangchai just hasn’t been able to pull it together of late and until he does I have to pick the other guy. That’s about the only rationale here. *********************** Undercard Bout #3: Welterweights Cashel Ortiz (5-2-0) vs. RJ Cain (11-8-0) I’d love to think that this third match of the evening, a Welterweight contest between RJ Cain and Cashel Ortiz, will be as or more competitive than all the others tonight but unfortunately that just may not be the case. Why? Because Cashel Ortiz is coming into this thing tonight about 25% off on morale. Does that mean he’s going to lose? Not necessarily, but it certainly doesn’t help and Donkey will likely pick against him for it. Cain will have the slightest of edges in both Muay Thai and wrestling tonight. He dropped his debut fight with Sucker Punch last month via Unanimous Decision to Mister Lee. He’s certainly no stranger to those sort of losses though as he had four in a row prior to joining us over at BBFC, all lost in the same fashion to the judges. If anybody’s had time to figure out what it takes to win or lose a fight on the cards, it’s this man! He’d be well served to get back to his old ways from early on where he tended to win via KO and never let it get to the judges in the first place. Against a fighter who is low on morale tonight would be the perfect time to do that! Ortiz won his SPPS debut last month over Alex Steel Li via…Decision. Something that Cain likely does not want to see but certainly gives Ortiz something to smile about coming into this fight against an opponent who has struggled with those types of losses. The morale issue could very well play in. However, there are a lot of unknowns for Ortiz given he changed management just prior to joining Sucker Punch and it’s hard to say what changes new manager Alex Conors will make in the first few fights here. Well Donkey…? Donkey’s Pick: Cain via TKO (Strikes) I actually do somewhat like Ortiz’s chances in this one tonight. But I just can’t pick a guy who comes in unprepared. This fight could still go either way though. *********************** Undercard Bout #4: Light Heavyweights Andrei Averyanov (2-0-0) vs. Abraham Barnes (4-4-0) One thing I can guarantee tonight with this fight Donkey is that strikes will be thrown! But it’s just a matter of determining whether they’re going to be thrown standing or on the ground. Barnes will likely attempt to utilize his exceptional wrestling and brown belt to get the fight on the ground where he can pour on the pain with some brutal ground and pound. That’s what he did against Julian Rourke in his Sucker Punch debut in late February and it’s what he’s done previously as well. He needed that win last go in order to avoid a three fight losing streak. Now that he’s moved past that it’s time to focus on building a winning streak instead! Averyanov also made his SPPS debut last month and realistically that was his first real MMA fight. His prior fight was a test fight most likely intended to be a loss. He defeated Shigemasa last go round with solid, accurate and likely heavy landing strikes combined with a bit of kickboxing. But the head shots were really what got the business done. Expect the same tonight while he attempts to keep Barnes from pulling this thing to the ground. What do you see here Donkey…? Donkey’s Pick: Averyanov via TKO (Strikes) Barnes will want this on the ground as you said Hare. And if he gets it there he could very well turn my pick upside down here. But he’s going to have to be careful not to get caught and tagged on his way in to get that takedown. *********************** Undercard Bout #5: Heavyweights Haden v. Cooper II ZaDarius Haden (8-3-0) vs. Sam Cooper (5-3-0) We finish up the Undercard with this big, and I do mean BIG in a physical sense, showdown between Heavyweights Cooper and Haden. Unfortunately it may not end up as competitive as it could have been because Cooper is coming into this fight with only about half morale. Extremely disappointing to be completely honest. That said, Cooper is under new management and there is a good chance that management is simply doing what they can in a short time to try to get this guy right. If that’s the case we can expect strides forward over his first 2-3 fights. This first fight is a rematch with Haden to see if new management can lead him to a better result. The last time these two met, their standup was somewhat comparable with Cooper able to land about a third of his strikes. He held his own on the ground, but wasn’t able to muster anything offensively so the little bit he did give up there made the difference on the cards. If anybody is a truly different man from the last time these two met it may be Haden. Since the fight with Cooper he’s gone on to take The Beast we all know and love as Thoth Chontamenti to a decision…which Haden lost…but a decision nonetheless. That’s significant against a fighter like Contamenti! Haden now has a black belt, so we’ll see how much that comes into play tonight as he did attempt several takedowns the last time these two met and worked the ground and pound once there as we mentioned earlier. What do you see here Donkey…? Donkey’s Pick: Haden via TKO (Strikes) I’d have been tempted to say that under new management I’d give this to Cooper given he can bring the unexpected to the cage this evening with a new manager. But with the morale being off about half it’s just impossible for me to pick him. Haden should be able to dictate the fight due to that lack of morale. *********************** Main Card Bout #1: Lightweights Maximus Furioto (11-5-0) vs. Bobolo Jubbly (7-5-0) As we get into the Main Card here we have what is undoubtedly going to end up a master chess match on the ground between submission artists Jubly and Furioto! The only difference between these two, when you look at it on paper, is that Furioto has built up SOME standup skills at this point. Will he use them? It’s possible, but doubtful. Instead, this fight will end up on the ground with these two vying for submission opportunities! The last time these two met Jubbly was able to walk away with a submission victory that earned him ‘Submission of the Night’ honors. Since then, it appears that Furioto may be the one who’s been developing faster (or still) as he now has sensatational wrestling, which is only a smidge better than Jubbly’s, and the same brown belt. At the same time, he has woeful boxing and feeble Muay Thai, which don’t sound impressive, but they’re certainly better than nothing! Now that I think about it a little bit, you know, I probably would put them to use tonight and see what they bring! Hell, if a finish via sub doesn’t happen tonight, those skills may be the difference with the judges for a few points! Any standup, or all ground tonight Donkey…? Donkey’s Pick: Furioto via Submission (Armbar) I think there’ll be SOME ground, but just enough as you said to get a few shots in and earn points for the round. After that, this thing probably ends up on the ground but I have a feeling Furioto may be up to the task this time around. *********************** Main Card Bout #2: Middleweights Sean Smith (6-1-0) vs. Longsun Zhao (6-6-0) Alright Donkey, here we go! Finally a pair ready to get in there and get it on, fully gassed up and focused on the fight at hand! Zhao is the more advanced Muay Thai artist here in this pairing. Smith will hold an edge in boxing and Jiu Jitsu with both being about even in wrestling. Zhao had gotten back onto a bit of a roll with wins over Bill Sherman and Volkov, but then he hit a roadblock last month against young Brennan Brunswick, getting stopped via TKO in the second round. What’s concerning about that fight and what it says about tonight’s bout for Zhao is that Brunswick was able to not only take the fight into the clinch himself, but dominate there. Zhao had a strange fight last go around where he simply offered nothing. NO strikes, no defense, no clinch, nothing. It’s almost like somebody swapped him out with a zombie and stuck him in the cage. I have to think that doesn’t repeat tonight. Prior to last month’s fight Smith was a perfect 6-0. Then he met up with Landon McGuire for a title shot and came up just short with McGuire finding a way to earn victory via submission! That’s a less than thrilling way to get your first loss…by also losing out on a shot at the belt. But, you have to be that good in the first place to be in that position! Smith has almost always won via TKO or KO and he’ll do it via boxing or in the clinch. Doesn’t matter to him. Just show him who to punch or kick…or elbow or knee. Whatever! If Zhao doesn’t come focused tonight and just stands there like last time, Smith is going to make it a painful night to remember. Donkey’s Pick: Smith via TKO (Strikes) I don’t know what happened in that last fight for Zhao but we better hope they’ve figured it out and fixed it. If not, this one could be over fast. I’m going with the other guy, Smith, until Zhao shows he hasn’t been a victim of bodysnatching. *********************** Main Card Bout #3: Featherweights Godefroy Courtial (10-1-1) vs. Luke Skywalker (6-5-1) Midway through the Main Card here and we’ve got a Featherweight battle that may fool many who just glance at the records! Skywalker may look to be significantly far behind in the W/L column numbers but he holds the advantage in boxing, wrestling and Jiu Jitsu heading into this bout. Courtial however will have the Muay Thai advantage as well as a proven history of finding a way to win! It should be a great battle with both parties completely ready to rock and roll! Part of the reason why Skywalker comes into this contest with a record just a tad over .500 is due to having fought two tough ones back to back. First, he had a title shot against Michael Aalto that he managed to go the distance in but fell short on the judge’s cards. Then, he did the same against an extremely tough, dangerous, hard hitting Kurt Cobain. True to form with pushing the fights to the limit of late, Skywalker managed to once again go the distance in his last fight against Nagashima, this time walking away with the ‘W’ and getting back to his winning ways! Using mostly boxing in that fight, he managed to land over half to get the job done. Courtial comes to us from PANDA and will throw a curve into the mix as this is his first fight with Sucker Punch. Kid Sunshine has lead him to two straight wins, both via KO’s with hands and feet respectively, and has him primed to come in with a bang here tonight! Expect hard hitting action from both of these fighters as they face off this evening in what could be an ‘of the Night’ bout in the making! Donkey, how do you see this one going…? Donkey’s Pick: Courtial via TKO (Strikes) Honestly, I’m taking a shot in the dark here, practically flipping a coin! This will be a fantastic fight, but I don’t think it’s going to a decision as so many have lately for Skywalker. One of these guys is turning the lights out for the other this evening! *********************** Co-Main Event: Featured Featherweight Bout Petsuwan Sitsongrit (5-1-0) vs. Mickey Dismantle (7-3-1) Our Co-Main Event will likely determine the next person in line for a title shot in the Featherweight division, should they want that shot. There may be potentially one more fight in between if needed to allow for proper spacing and such, but more or less these two are at the top of the hill and knocking on the door! And this is a ridiculously even match with almost exact skills in primaries across the board. Dismantle went after the title two months back but fell short when Michael Aalto, then and still champ, was able to sink in an armbar submission just before the end of the first round. Up to that point the fight had been a back and forth, shot for shot contest! Dismantle came back last month and took his frustrations out on Broklyn Red with a first round KO before the two minute mark. No doubt he’ll be looking for a similar result this evening but it will be interesting to see if he changes up the approach any knowing that Sitsongrits are notorious for playing the long, take it to the judges, decision style fight. Sitsongrit comes into this fight with four wins in a row, the first of which was against the same Broklyn Red who Dismantle just vanquished last month. That was a TKO victory but since then, true to the “Sitsongrit” name, the most recent three fights have all been won via Unanimous Decision. The first of those Decisions against Dismantle’s own stablemate, Kurt Cobain. Cobain and Dismantle have similar styles so will Sitsongrit go for the same approach or change it up some for this follow-up contest? Donkey…you have to be psyched about this one eh…? Donkey’s Pick: Dismantle via TKO (Strikes) Truly a war to see if one can pick apart and point the other to death or if the big shot comes and gets the job done! Yes, they may switch things up, but I’m thinking the odds are they don’t. And I think that you can only avoid those big shots for so long, eventually one finds a way through! *********************** Main Event: Featured Welterweight Bout Carter Ortiz (10-1-0) vs. Rick Segura (2-1-0) Our Main Event will feature two talented Welterweights all set to go at it. Well, sorta. This is our second Ortiz to hit the cage on the night, both managed by Alex Conors, but while the first names may have changed what hasn’t changed is the preparation. Once again, another Ortiz steps into the cage this evening with less than full prep as Carter Ortiz is off on his morale by about 25% and his energy isn’t quite topped off either, coming in at about 90%. That’ll potentially play into the results of this Main Event and certainly affect Donkey’s pick. Segura joined us two fights back here at Sucker Punch and since has put together a pair of wins coming into this battle tonight. Both wins via TKO, he’s proven that he can wait you out and wear you down as he did against Sebastian Ramirez when he got the finish in the third round or, if given the opportunity, end it in the first early as Baldimir Zsofka found out last month. One thing is consistent with these wins though…they’re obtained via the dirty and nasty with a brutal ground and pound game after finding a way to put the fight on the mat! Ortiz is a ground specialist as well but makes a living off submissions. That’s going to make him very dangerous for his opponent this evening as Segura will likely want to work the GnP as usual, but Ortiz will working the chess game trying to grab and twist anything he can get ahold off! He especially likes arms, having finished most of his fights via armbars, kimuras, arm triangles, americanas, you name it, but has also pulled off the full gambit of moves with guillotines, rear nakeds, triangles, etc. Donkey…who gets it in this big time showdown…? Donkey’s Pick: Segura via TKO (Strikes) I’m going to pick Segura here solely because I refuse to pick an unprepared fighter. That said, this is a very dangerous fight for Segura and if Ortiz isn’t badly affected by the morale and energy issues this could get ugly if an arm or head is left in the wrong position. Even if Segura gains top position, enabling the ground and pound, it’s still a dangerous place to be with a submission specialist on their back! *********************** So there we have it Sucker Punch fans! A lot of fun in store for everybody this evening over at the Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney! We hope you’ll be there for the great weather, the great fights and the great fun! If not, catch us live on the livestream and we’ll be back in the next day or so to take a look at the results and what this does for the divisions! Till then, have fun and don’t forget… Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

  22. ROUND FOUR - PREVIEW Two more rounds of the group stage to go before we find out where exactly each alliance team will be spending the finals. Some teams will be having their last group stage match up during this round whilst everyone else will be finishing up in round five. Let's take a look at what we have to look forward to in round four! In group A, reigning champions YABAI will be taking on newcomers The Guardians and for the champs, this will be their fourth and final group stage match up. Currently in first place but with a fight ahead of joint on points Keyboard Warriors, YABAI have a big chance here to cement their place in the champions phase finals. The Guardians, currently in fourth and with two more match ups to go, will be looking to spoil the party but it's been a tough road so far and the odds of pulling off the upset will be stacked heavily against them. One of their better chances of points comes in the team captain match up between Kaspar Kallaste (TG) and Jay Reepo (YAB). Kallaste brings some wonderful boxing skills into the fray and has been showing good progress in his ground skills which is perhaps in preparation for this important showdown. Reepo is undefeated in the tournament so far at 3-0 and will be a strong favourite to get the win here too but make no mistake, if he cannot get this fight on the ground, he is in big trouble. At lightweight, YABAI's Bishop Bonesteel is also undefeated in the tournament and looking like a solid long term prospect for manager Esiah Xavier. He will be a massive favourite against middling Isak Hardrafa who will need to rely heavily on his superior Muay Thai skills. 185Lbs gives us YABAI's Omer Demirci versus The Guardians Matt Cosce and once again YABAI look set to take away the points in this one two. Cosce is still looking for his first win of the tournament whilst Demirci has done well to overcome a round one mishap and gain wins in his last two fights. Moving on to 265lbs, the scales finally turn towards The Guardians when their undefeated heavyweight star Drax Bautista takes on YABAI's Huber Schlesien. Bautista, now 3-0 with his last two coming by way of finish, will be a strong favourite over Schlesien who only just managed to overcome a two fight skid in his last match up, bringing his tournament record to 1-2 overall. Prediction: YABAI to take the match up three fights to one. 135Lbs and heavyweight are the only potential points pick up for The Guardians with lightweight and middleweight leaning too far towards YABAI to reasonably expect an upset. The other Group A fixture will be a showdown between Keyboard Warriors and Naughtly Crew 3. Keyboard Warriors, currently in second place but joint on points and with a fight in hand over leaders YABAI, would absolutely guarantee themselves a spot in the Champions phase finals with a win here whilst bottom place Naughtly Crew 3 would pretty much do well to avoid ending up in last place. A fight to watch out for at 135lbs will be between team captains Akio Kurosaki (KW) and Stuart Burrows (NC3). Both fighters currently with a 1-1 record, the fight looks set to be a grappling war with Kurosaki's wonderful wrestling skills going up against Burrows BJJ Brown Belt. The bookies have the fight as even although the key might be within Burrows slow but steady progress in the stand up. At 155lbs, Keyboard Warriors Aung Siang will be the slight favourite against Naughtly Crew's underperforming Ultimate Warrior who is developing a bit of a reputation as a gym only star. Currently 0-2, Warrior is still looking for his first win despite making big improvements in training. Siang, 1-1, will be slightly outgunned but in slightly better form. At 185lbs, 2-0 Bofur Widenose (KW) will be taking on 1-1 Tran Quaach for Naughtly Crew 3. A striker versus grappler affair no question, Widenose will be the heavy favourite going into this one. Finally, at heavyweight, Keyboard Warriors undefeated Felix Suarez takes on Naughtly Crew's 0-2 Uncle Abner. Suarez is looking something of a surprise package for Keyboard Warriors and is heavily favoured to get the job done against Abner who is still searching for his first points of the tournament. Prediction: Keyboard Warriors seal their place in the Champions Finals with an overall win three fights to one. In truth, a clean sweep wouldn't be at all surprising with Naughtly Crew captain Stuart Burrows the only one of his team likely to score some points. On to Group B where champions phase qualification contenders Syndicate and Limitless will face off against each other. This one is sure to be an interesting collision with a lot on the line for both parties. Surprise package Limitless, currently holding steady in second place, make their forth and final appearance in the group phase of this tournament and will definitely need a win to have any chance of a place amongst the big boys. A win for Limitless would mean that second place remains unreachable for Syndicate meaning that they would need to hope they qualify through the two wildcard slots available but with that giving no guarantees at all, Syndicate realistically find themselves in the same position where a win here is absolutely necessary for their qualification chances. A massive fight at 135lbs and one I am personally very much looking forward to. Two fighters that were earmarked as potential stars early on, we have Limitless' Paolo Del Geno taking on Syndicate's Dreynos Elvul. Del Geno coming into this fight after suffering his first loss of the tournament, a first round submission loss to The Stepdads Ricky Greene, will put his brawling style up against the submission wrestling of slight favourite Dreynos Elvul. At 155lbs we have Trey Limitless taking on Syndicate team captain Slash Shredder. Limitless also having just suffered his first loss after an impressive two fight win streak will be a solid favourite to win over Shredder who is still searching for his first victory after two fights. Yet another fight slightly favoured for Limitless at 185lbs with Heinrich Von Slackenfuchs taking on Syndicate's Al Hoffa who is also still looking to pick up his first points of the tournament. The final heavyweight bout pits Limitless ailing captain Slim Towney up against Syndicate's Sono Tiger. Both fighters have in common a brutally quick loss against The Stepdads Bruce Hood but otherwise, Tiger has shown himself to have some knockout power himself whereas Towney has not fared well at all during this tournament and enters the fight on the back of a three fight losing streak. Tiger will be a huge favourite in this one with many believing it to be an easy five points for his alliance. Prediction: A tough one for sure but having to take into account the form of Syndicate's 155 and 185lber's you'd have to say that the balance of power swings ever so slightly towards Limitless. Of course, it's difficult to count on that due to the high ranking of those fighters management teams and if they can manage to shift up a gear or two, it could be a completely different outcome. For now though, we expect Limitless to take this one on points with the match ups maybe going 2-2. Elsewhere in Group B, current group leaders and 2020's runners up The Stepdads will be in action as they take on bottom place alliance Legion of Doom. With both teams mid way through their group stage campaigns, it's fair to say that The Stepdads are in a much stronger position than Legion of Doom and due to their unsurprisingly good start, have given themselves quite a comfortable cushion against a shock upset loss here. Legion of Doom on the other hand are in quite a tough spot. As of right now, mathematically, they could still end up topping the group but they would need to win both of their remaining two match ups which means upsetting all the odds and defeating the very in-form Stepdads. A good place to start for Legion of Doom could be at 135lbs where their granite chinned Solomon Grundy will face off against The Stepdads Ricky Greene. Both fighters 1-1 currently with neither having been finished so far. Should be an excited fight though Greene is looking as though he is making the better progress in the gym. At lightweight, The Stepdads team captain Shinji Tomoguchi will be odds on favourite to defeat LOD's Bob Probert. 1-1 Probert has the superior stand up game but he might find it difficult to avoid the smothering clinch game and remarkable wrestling skills of Tomoguchi. A big opportunity for Legion of Doom perhaps as their team captain John Rackham goes against 2-0 Maximus DeMarcus Meridius. Rackham, coming in after suffering a late in round one TKO finish loss, was vocal on social media about not making the same mistakes again and you have to believe he will be motivated to get a better result this time around. Still, Meridius is currently undefeated and performing well enough to be thought of as favourite in this match up. At heavyweight, it's really a no brainer as heavy hitting powerhouse Bruce Hood (TSD) takes on London native Richard Anderson for Legion of Doom. Anderson hasn't done badly so far in the tournament with a record of 1-1 but Hood hasn't even needed two whole minutes to rack up two wins out of two and it would certainly be a big shock if that tradition didn't continue on here for his manager Step Daddy Squid. Prediction: Unfortunately for Legion of Doom, an easy one to make. The Stepdads take a minimum of three out of these four match ups and the likelihood of a clean sweep not too far behind. That isn't to say that Legion of Doom are a bad team at all. More so that The Stepdads are currently a level above in consistency and performance and picking against them is more often than not a very foolish thing to do. Finally, into Group C we go where big time alliance Convicted Inc will take on AWC first timers ACME 2. Things haven't been plain sailing for the Convicted boys so far and with a record of 1-2, they go into their final group phase match up needing nothing less than a decisive team victory. Whilst they currently occupy one of the two wildcard qualifying spots for the Champions final, there is still no guarantees that even a win would allow them to retain said spot and instead, no matter the result, they will need to wait until the end of round five to learn there fate. ACME 2 are still looking to pick up their first win as a team and as a result are currently languishing at the bottom of the Group C table. Whilst a spot in the champions final is currently a bit of a far fetched dream, avoiding a bottom place finish would be the next biggest priority and the scalp of a potentially past it's prime Convicted Inc alliance would be a great place to start. Bantamweight might be the first opportunity ACME get to draw blood as submission wrestler Glenn Welch takes on Convicted's Nevez Amadaus. Welch has yet to pick up a win here this season whilst Amadaus will be coming in 1-2. Amadaus has shown himself to be weak to submission in previous fights so if Welch can get the fight to the floor, he has a fair chance of getting his hand raised. 155Lbs pits Convicted's Rico Axelrod against ACME's Brett Keane and this one could also swing either way. Axelrod with a more brawling style, he will be contending with Keane's more traditional Muay Thai based approach. At middleweight, Convicted look set to take all five points as their star performer and team captain Haitian Ginger takes on ACME captain Mun So who hasn't looked the same since competing in the AWC trials. Currently 0-2 So will be a massive underdog against the yet undefeated submission hunter Ginger. The final heavyweight bout sees inconsistent Convicted fighter Gehngis Khan taking on ACME's 0-2 Fidel DeLuna. An interesting showdown featuring an out and out striker taking on a clinch wrestler. Khan will be the very slight favourite going in. Prediction: Although it wouldn't be a total shock to see ACME pull off an upset, it just feels a little too uncomfortable to pick them over Convicted Inc, no matter how poorly they are performing. With Convicted's reputation and honour on the line here, it's highly likely that they are going to come out motivated and at their absolute best (aka Karter logs in and sets their sliders for them) Still, there's enough about ACME here to make it interesting and this one will likely have a fair few extra eyes upon it. Our final round four match up will be between fourth place Team Panda and current group leaders and 2020 bronze medallists FinnFighters. Team Panda have been slowly slipping down the table since their shock upset victory over Convicted Inc and now only qualify for the middle place finals. FinnFighters on the other hand are looking very strong indeed and have taken control of the group with two more rounds to go. Kicking off the showdown will be Team Panda captain Napoleon Panda and he will be taking on FinnFighters 2-0 CG Mannheim. Panda will be coming in off of a loss so it will be interesting to see how he rebounds against an in-form Mannheim. Both fighters being submission hunters makes the match up all the more intriguing. A big match up at 155lbs as FinnFighters team captain Rokken Roll takes on Team Panda's Jacques Turcotte. Both fighters currently undefeated at 2-0 and both with similar approaches to the game. Definitely a fight to watch and likely to be a very competitive one. At middleweight FinnFighters Oke Swahn will meet Team Panda's Otto Graff who has yet to pick up his first win of the tournament. Graff looks to be slightly outgunned in a couple of areas here and the bookies have him down as a rather large underdog. Finally, at heavyweight, Team Panda's Jacko Dawson will go toe to toe with FinnFighters undefeated Einar Kyrvansyyla who has managed to rack himself up a couple of first round finishes in a row. The bookies have Dawson as a huge underdog in this one though he does have a first round victory over Convicted Inc's Ghengis Khan. Prediction: FinnFighters take this one in a big way. Team Panda really need the win if they are to get back into a qualifying position but this FinnFighters team are in great shape and look incredibly motivated right now. Not many would be willing to bet on any upsets happening here.

  25. BIG WAVE MMA 4: THE CROWNING REVIEW Welcome to the review show for BWMMA-4. The event was held in Hilo Hawaii at Wild Bob's Bar in-front of 450 screaming fans. With an event rating of 46.24. The fight of the night was Rik Spahn vs Max Gotty and the KO of the night was Nyrkki Rauta. It saw two people get crown champions. Our sponsor Coconut Supplement Co showed up and did some nice merchandising at the event. Big wave saw our first ever profit at the event bringing in $7k after all expenses for the event was paid. Now the moment all of you have been waiting for. What happened in the event? Aizen Kuzo versus Fabian Raczynski at 265 saw the debuting Fabian getting a TKO win over Aizen as the ref stepped in to save him. The first round was all Aizen with the takedowns but not much else. Normally Aizen is more active on the ground than what he was tonight. The second round opened with a couple failed takedown attempts by Aizen followed Fabian landing a shot that cut Aizen that he just shrugged off and got the takedown. The ref stood the fight back up and it wasn't long before Fabian found his range landing another shot that opened the cut up worse rocking Aizen. Then following it up with a left hook that dropped Aizen followed by another shot that left him out cold on the canvas. Rik Spahn versus Max Gotty at 185 saw the perfect Max looking a little outmatched in this quick fight. It opened up with Rik landing a fast takedown. The two exchanged a bit of words and maybe Rik will enlighten us on what was said. Whatever it was I'm sure max wishes he could take it back because it was immediately followed by Rik landing a shot then passing to full mount and landing another shot that led Max to tapping from strikes. Next fight was a 3 round fight ending in decision between Baofu Taiwa and Havig Singh. It was really close fight with the second and third rounds being anyone's game. Havig had his moments landing just about everything he threw. But in the end all 3 judges scored the fight 29:28 Baofu as the takedowns and positions changes just proved enough to inch the win. Maybe Havig should have been a little more active with his strikes. Then we had a fast bloody fight between Phineas Turner and Jimmy Shimmy at 205. Phineas opened the fight with a jab that cut the bridge of Jimmy's nose. Jimmy tried for a takedown but it was defended well followed by an overhand right that sent Jimmy sailing tot he canvas and Phineas wasted no time diving on top throwing bombs and the ref jumping on that quick stopping the fight. Another 205 fight. This one between Shiro Namatame and Baba Jay. The fight ended in true Shiro fashion by decision. Shiro threw punches in bunches and landing just under 50% of his strikes. Baba had his moments with the takedowns and put up some decent ground and pound. But in the end the judges scored every single round for Shiro as the pressure and damage from the volume of strikes just proved too much. And we have been told that Shiro and Phineas will be running it back against one another for the 205 title. Nyrkki Rauta versus Michael Wayne for the 170 pound strap was one really fast fight lasting just 29 seconds. It opened with Nyrkki landing shot after shot cutting Michael. Dropping him and waving him back up. He kept the pressure on knocking Michael back into the cage dropping him to his knees and continuing the onslaught as the ref rushed in to save him. We had one of our announcers for this event do an interview with the champion after the fight. Daniel Lowlin: Hi Daniel Lowlin here with Nyrkki Rauta who just became the first ever champion at 170 pounds at Big Wave MMA. I have to ask how does it feel? Nyrkki Rauta: There were some question marks before signing into BWMMA, and there still are. But at the moment looks promising. Of course it's great to win a title. I'm really happy because now I can get back into training. My manager have had so much fighter to control, but hopefully these wins give me more attention. Daniel Lowlin: That's great. You already have a guy from earlier on the card calling out the champion Baofu Taiwa. What do you think of him? Nyrkki Rauta: Never heard of him. Seems like he is one of those who will get killed by a few hard punches. Daniel Lowlin: You're a young fighter and already knocking people out left and right. No-one in Big Wave has even lasted a single minute with you. Are you that good, or are you worried a little bit about being so young and not getting to pick up much experience from such quick fights? Nyrkki Rauta: That's good question. Honestly I don't know yet. These opponents have been stylistically quite easy and that's a good thing. Also it is a bad thing because it doesn't really tell where is my real potential. The main event was a 265 pound fight crowning the king of 265 between Rover Fezue and Danny Brook. It was over in just over 30 seconds. Rover looked perfect landing 100% of his shots. Opened up with a jab that cut the bridge of Danny's nose. Danny took it like a champ. He took another shot this time to the body. He tried for a takedown that he misjudged the distance for. He paid the price with another body shot. The Rover lands an overhand right for a walk away KO. And our announcer interviews our champion. Daniel Lowlin: Hi Daniel Lowlin sitting here with Rover Fezue the first ever 265 pound champion at Big Wave MMA. I have to ask how does that feel? Rover Fezue: Feels great. I couldn't have asked for a better way to capture the title. Daniel Lowlin: That's great. Now people are talking that you push fights for a fast KO because you don't have the stamina to go in later rounds much less the championship rounds. What do you have to say to your haters out there? Rover Fezue: You don't need cardio when you have the ultimate equalizer. I'm just hear to eat a** and beat up p*ss*es. Guess what I'm just about out of p*ss*es to beat. Daniel Lowlin: You are the reigning king in the biggest division at Big Wave. How do you see the strength and quality of the division? Rover Fezue: There's some young guys who have some work to do and could be some potential threats in time.
