  1. Breaking News By Chad Stevens, MMA-LA After years of fighting in the lower tiers of MMA, Arlo Rochester has signed a deal with GAMMA. The 34 year old Jiu Jitsu specialist is far removed from his humble beginnings as a part timer in the public ‘11th Planet BJJ’, having bought his own gym last year. Described as a late bloomer by many analysts, Rochester caught fire as of late in both Odense and Slavic Fight League, the latter of which he won his first championship at 170. On his podcast ‘The Flower Power Hour,’ Rochester had this to say: “It’ll be a difficult task, many of the guys in GAMMA have had lifelong training and practice at the top tier of MMA, and that just isn’t the case for me. There was a time when I retired for a year, because at 7-7 my career just wasn’t going anywhere. Now i’m at the top tier of MMA. It’s been a turbulent journey, but I’m proud of it. “
  2. Kane also started his career when Blockbuster was still a store and pop punk was a thing. Respect to the legend, but I think keeping elite hidden guys is now the status quo.
  3. The last one is legitimately terrifying. Great work
  4. What a season for Spurs, give Conte all he wants and more!
  5. At least Camara made an effort, christ. Not a clever bone in this man’s body.
  6. Often, MMA represents reality- in lieu of the recent rise of fat fucks trying to justify themselves Plus Size Acceptance movement, so too have the tides of tycoon begun to accept these plus sized punchers. Perhaps the biggest (pun intended) example of this movement came in 2019, when Simon Udovich faced Shaquille O'Neal, the former at 715 lbs and the latter at 380 lbs, respectively. As the reinforced cage shook with each collossal step, 1,083 combined lbs clashed for a whopping 8 seconds resulting in a TKO victory for Shaq. Less meteoric, yet just as profound, was the career of Bubba Randall, the first fighter in Tycoon history to have a fight at every single weight class. Starting at 135 with the other midgets, Randall grew disgusted of the weight cuts and toxic culture of body idealism. In response to this, Randall, with the bravery of a Hollywood actress, ate his way to the other side of enlightenment, finishing his career at Super Heavyweight. So often does the culture of Martial Arts adhere to the ideas of masculinity being attached to physical appearance and mental toughness. Yet, these people have yet to understand that masculinity in itself is toxic, and to attempt to achieve your best is inherently violent. So, eat that burger, and get a coke with it. The Heavyweights are always the happiest in the gym.
  7. A longtime, active member who contributed greatly. You'll be missed 💔
  8. 13 of my 23 fighters are Midgets at 135/145. There's always a plethora of Decision cheesers in the top 10, but honestly the fun is in making knockout specialists at that weight. Plus, the mental image of a bunch of Wee Man clones roundhouse kicking each other is hilarious.
  9. AFTER THE ISLAND- “Lucky” Liam Murphy By Chad Stevens, MMA-LA With a nickname like “Lucky,” Liam Murphy sure hasn’t had much of it in his fight career. Sitting at an 11-12 record, on the Island Murphy carried an unfortunate typecaste- a sloppy submission specialist. With all 11 of his wins coming from submissions, you’d think the 30 year old Irishman would be a jiu jitsu guru- yet he showed a serious lack of discipline and misfortune by being submitted 5 times himself. Adding more to his streak of unluckiness is his two losses in title fights at Highland- one against Ed Green, and one against the meteoric Noel Diaz. While one can hardly blame him for the loss against Diaz, his up and down career has shown a lack of dedication to his craft. Murphy was never going to be a fighter. At 25, he was but an unlucky homeless man found frequently loitering around Yellow Lotus gym. Sick of the innefective homeless policies of California, Popart gave him a proposition: Fly to an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and learn to fight- if he proved an aptitude, he could become a member of the gym. As a backup, Murphy was to open a pub on the island- the only one of it’s kind- and send 10% profits back to Los Angeles. “That was probably the luckiest day of me life- coulda died in some gutter somewhere, I just happened to lay outside of the right business. If there's two things the irish know, it’s pub’s and fighting!” Murphy ran Lucky Liam’s Pub until several months before the island closed, proving to be largely helpful for the other fighters in the beginning stages of that season. His signature whiskey proved to be beneficial in getting a good night’s sleep, helping reduce the other fighter’s fatigue. Despite going a measly 7-6 on the island, Murphy charmed his way into a full time position at Yellow Lotus. Regardless of his various ineptitudes, he has shown no signs of slowing down his MMA career. “God bless Highland for the opportunity they gave me. I fully intend to stay loyal to them until the end. I made enough money to live on with the pub, and now I get to fight for the fun of it. Maybe i’ll break some longevity records- I’ve got another hundred fights in me!” When asked about his Jiu Jitsu background, Murphy had this to say: “Look, one of my problems is that for the longest time every opponent has known exactly what my plan is going into a fight. Mr. Manager wouldn’t even let me throw a punch well into my 20th fight. I’ve been training up my boxing, and it’s time to show the world that i’m a real scrappy bastard. I don’t know the gameplan for my next fight, but I do know this- eventually, I’ll get my Luck back.”
  10. By Chad Stevens, MMA-LA So much has changed for Arlo Rochester since his career began. Once a wide eyed, 18 year old prospect who moved from his parents farm to Los Angeles to pursue his MMA career. Now a 22 fight veteran, the 33 year old Rochester recently moved back to the United States to purchase Yellow Lotus Center of Healing and Meditative Arts, the gym in which he originally trained at. With Rochester in charge, here to stay is the relaxed approach to training, with an emphasis on quality and quantity- Now that the gym has over 20 members, there is seldom a moment from sun up to sun down in which someone is not rolling on the mat. Yet, Rochester still finds enjoyment in the sport. On his podcast The Flower Power Hour, Rochester stated; “Look, i’ve found my sense of peace- I went pro in the sport that I love. The first time I got paid to fight- it was about 100 bucks, I think- I sort of came to the conclusion, ‘look, i’ve made it- it doesn’t matter how this career goes, because I can call myself a pro MMA fighter.” Rochester recently won the first belt of his career, in the new organization Slavic Fight League. Originally located in St. Petersburg, the organization moved it’s headquarters to Los Angeles to deal with fighter’s visas easier after the war started. Rochester stated that he was excited about winning the belt, but that it hasn’t affected his attitude towards fighting: “I’ve been very fortunate with the career i’ve had. Every fighter isn’t going to make it to the top of the MMA world, and that’s okay. I’ve exceeded my own expectations.” When talking about his future plans, Rochester said a line that his fans will be utmost familiar with; “I’ll defend the belt at Slavic for as long as I have it- after that, who knows? i'll fight anywhere- Anywhere the weed is good and the drug testing is unreliable!”

  12. Arlo Rochester: From being out of the fight game for nearly two years, to the turbulent 12-10 record i've managed- I'm honored to be one of the first Welterweight champs here at Slavic.
