I would hope someone would beat me if theyve been here since 2010, while I've had just had projects since Nov '19 rofl. Tell me you're mad without actually telling me you're mad

It's pretty visible on my account that 360k was my first id-range after over 8 year break from the game. And that was ~march 2020 :)

I see you met Andy. We all come along Andy at some point on here and he never fails to amaze us all with his savy replies. He is most likely an intellectual in the making, but needs some more water to grow first. No ok, a lot of water. No ok, all oceans combined wouldn't get the job done.

Funny, how I'm not even doing that.

Though I do appreciate you bringing O'Neill into the org to feed Sora some hype. That's a surprisingly sweet move of you, Andy :)

Rofl you are far too soft and emotional to be dumb enough to not know a notification and your quote came at the exact same time last time. You're not the brightest to try weasle out of that, nice try

And thanks for the welcome, beating Sora will be easy and put me to sleep about as long as Sora will be sleeping on the mat

Because it is entirely impossible for two people to be using the forums at the same time :D

I'm still waiting for you to come find me and kill me like you promised, what happened to that? Did your parents find out and put you in time out?

You're so basic. I don't think I ever said I'd kill you. I said you should watch out. I can fuck with you in a number of ways.

Yeah your cringe ass definitely threatened with death. Keep it up, I'm sure your parents upstairs sure are proud

My parents are upstairs, and they are proud. Thanks for displaying your general character for everyone to see. You address everyone on here like they are clowns. Going back and seeing all your posts on here...you literally converse with everyone like they are dumbfucks and you are the king. You're not used to having someone tell you to get fucked, I get it, when you spend so much time behind a keyboard, you lose connection to the real world. Then you gaslight to make yourself feel like the victim. You act like a woman. You and other fuckstick act like you are the kings of this place, and think you can talk to people like clowns. Going to the level of talking about anyone's personal life or family should show everyone on here exactly who you guys really are.  As for the down votes, what are you going to do about it big boy?

All I can say is LOL. You typed all that, and made it worse basement dweller. Get out of your parents bubble, I'm sure they'll be happier to not have such a toxic low life parasite like you around 24/7. Your mother wishes every morning she swallowed you instead

The other upstairs dummy. I think I underestimated just how big a fucking idiot you are. Am I really arguing with someone that doesn't have all his marbles?

CHEAP SHOTS IN REVIEW

Sucker Punch Pro Series 97

Hey everybody out there in Sucker Punch land!  I know it’s been a couple more days than I said it would since this event went off down in Sydney at the 30,000 seat Superdome.  But hey, better late than never and I really did want to do a review for this one given I was out of town on a college tour with my middle daughter, resulting in no preview for this event!  This was one of our highest rated events to date and there was a ton of great action!  I won’t drag this out, let’s get into the fun and look at each of the fights that took place and what they mean both to the fighters and to the division.  As always though, a quick word first about our merchandise partner and sponsor!

1584375781SWN.jpg

Do you find that you’re resting your fighters too often? Two, three, maybe even 4 times a week sometimes?  If that’s the case, you’re probably not supplementing their training, and if you are I’m thinking you’re not doing it with Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, which is Shadow Warrior Nutrition’s outstanding energy loss reduction supplement.  It’s the best money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting!  Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Undercard Bout #1: Sparring Bout

Danyaal Zahedi Defeats Big Bang via Decision (Unanimous)

Really not a lot to get into here in our warm-up action for the night as these two kids were out there simply trying to show their manager, John Wayne, what they have in the tank and that they’re worthy of a permanent spot in his stable!

Zahedi came out and showed that he’s got heavy hands and KO power, but that’s something Wayne already knew from a prior fight. What he did do was win again, preventing his manager from seeing how he would handle a loss morale-wise.

Bang showed “inexperienced” in the tale of the tape, not something that sets the world on fire.  Despite having a very minimal drop in morale with the loss the intangibles just weren’t good enough to impress and he finds himself in the unemployment line this week.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Nothing to really take away here, these two did their thing and showed what they could. Unfortunately manager Wayne didn’t get as much out of this as he’d probably hoped.

Undercard Bout #2: Light Heavyweights

Misak Grigorian Defeats Juares Dea via Decision (Unanimous)

Our second fight on the night was our first full three round matchup and at first it looked like this thing was going to be all over the place with a takedown in the first round.  However, after that one takedown by Dea, which was handled nicely by Grigorian who allowed really no improvement of position for Dea on the ground while improving his own at the same time and fending off any potential offense, this thing became pretty pedestrian with the rest of the fight staying on the feet.

Dea was unable to muster anything offensively in this thing with his focus mostly on attempting to return the fight to the ground or get it into the clinch (presumably as another approach to taking it to the ground).  Something he was unsuccessful in doing.  Grigorian pretty much had his way throughout and easily scored enough to not only take it with the judges, but in the later rounds doing it so convincingly that the judges tended to score it with a fairly rare 10-8.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Grigorian easily converts this opportunity into his second win in a row with Sucker Punch and improves his undefeated record overall to 3-0.  He’ll step it up a notch to Mike Bard next month and from there we’ll get a chance to see if Grigorian’s trajectory is taking him straight up the charts in the division or not!

Dea drops one in his initial outing here at Sucker Punch and despite having come to us with a win in his most recent fight he’s now 1-4 over his last five contests.  2-5 if you include his entire run at WCF prior to joining us.  He needs to find a way to piece together the right skills and develop a niche for himself given he’s limited to a 2.5* skill rating at the moment while touting a 358k registered MMAT ID.  That’s something we sometimes see in guys who have gone with a niche build, such as full-on ground specialists, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here with Dea and despite showing “big heart” in early contests, it may simply be that he’s a bit of a slow learner.  Hare will be looking to find him an equitable matchup for his next fight if possible, but if he can’t find his way the best days may be behind him and the current contract may not see itself fully played out unfortunately.

 ***********************

Undercard Bout #3: Lightweights

Michael Collins Defeats Ryo Hazuki via Submission (Triangle Armbar)

Michael Collins manages to find a way here in our third matchup as he pulls off not only a submission, but a ‘Sub of the Night’ winning one at that.  Despite coming into the contest completely and totally unprepared with almost zero morale!  Now…I’d love to say that that’s something hugely impressive for Collins to overcome that handicap…and it is…but even more than that, it’s a bit of an indictment to Hazuki for not being able to capitalize!  I hate to say it, but it’s true.

Here’s the disturbing part.  Hazuki had the advantage going into this contest in both areas of standup, while being slightly behind in wrestling and both fighters touting a brown belt.  Yet, he never threw a strike standing and was the one responsible for both takedowns in this fight.  He put himself in a position of equal skill, at best, and nullified his only advantage.  That’s about the only way that Collins could come out on top in this one and that’s exactly the nightmare scenario that developed for Hazuki.

Note to Collins:  Improve your morale.  Don’t come into next month’s contest with it off or almost zero again, because you will not continue to win like that.  Read back through the forums or our news for the org and take note of the information we’ve provided on clothing changes to improve morale…and do them!  Please.  One thing I’m very unwilling to see repetitively is the same guys coming to the cage unprepared and it absolutely is something that will get a fighter let go if they don’t make the effort to do the right things prior to fights.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Hare is absolutely right about the need for Collins to come prepared in the future.  If I had picked a winner in a preview for this one, I would have definitely picked against him due to the morale issues and I would have been right 90% of the time on that.  He got lucky that his opponent essentially did all the wrong things in this fight.  Sorry Lundgren camp, I have to speak the truth!

That said, Hazuki just can’t seem to find his way and you have to figure he’s trying anything and everything he can to mix things up and do things differently at this point.  Nothing seems to click, and despite his skillsets he’s now a demoralizing 2-7 on his career.  Hare’s intention, as far as his last talk with me, is to pit him against Atkins next which should be a more than fair fight given ID’s and skill levels.  If he can’t find a way to lasso a ‘W’, the end of the road may be in sight…

***********************

Undercard Bout #4: Welterweights

Vladimir Rurikovich Defeats Hadr Bari via TKO (Strikes)

Rurikovich made his Sucker Punch debut last week in this fight and pushed his record from .500 to one above with the win here.  He dominated the standup early and was able to take it into the clinch at will where he also got the better of the action.  With only just over a half minute left in the first he was able to finish delivering abuse in the clinch with a big knee and then a follow-up one as well to lock in the win!

Bari, who came into the fight 1-1 at Sucker Punch but 3-1 over his prior four fights was fairly active in the clinch but mostly limited to strikes with the hands. Outside the clinch he didn’t appear to have an answer for Rurikovich’s striking.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

We’ll get a chance to see if Bari can bounce back against Maximums Jr. next month.  To his credit, he’s accepted the fight but we’re still waiting to see if Maximus will do the same.

Rurikovich opened things up right at SPPS with the win and now has a 2-1 record over his last three so  he’s heading in the right direction. Next month he’ll see an older, but struggling, Mandinos and we’ll find out if he can continue on the path upwards!

***********************

Undercard Bout #5: Light Heavyweights

Igor Warlovski Defeats Bjorn Akerfeldt via KO (Punch)

Akerfeldt has his fair share of submissions over his career but in this final contest of the Undercard he just couldn’t manage to control the action and capitalize on his areas of strength.

Warlovski proved extremely difficult to get to the ground for Akerfeldt.  Over the course of two and a half rounds Akerfeldt made forty attempts to take this fight to the mat, succeeding only three times.  He tried from the clinch.  He tried out of the clinch. And the few times he got the fight horizontal Warlovski was able to prevent Akerfeldt from executing any of his plans.

In the meantime, while Akerfeldt was busy expending energy trying for takedowns, Warlovski was punishing him with accurate strikes with a ridiculously high success rate.  Both in and out of the clinch again, but even more successfully out of the clinch with his kickboxing.  It’s no surprised that Akerfeldt’s gas tank was pushed beyond empty in this one and he finally succumbed halfway through the third to a ‘KO of the Night’ winning knockout!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

With the win in hand Warlovski will move on to face an equally skilled in many ways, including ID, Rajantaka next month.  That should tell us whether his trajectory is truly shooting upwards or not!  For Akerfeldt, three losses over the last four fights will have him shaken a bit in confidence and looking for a way back into the win column.  Can he get there by overcoming Aboubacar Mandiang who he holds a significant amount of training time advantage over despite being the same age at 24 years?

Main Card Bout #1: Welterweights

Keisuke Matsuzaka Defeats Mister Lee via Decision (Unanimous)

Four of our five fights on the Main Card ended up in the judges’ hands.  So hang in there, we’re about to hit a bumpy stretch where some fights were looked upon well but others not as much!  Matsuzaka and Lee were one of the four fights that went the distance with their fight getting a very nice Fight Rating!

That rating mostly came due to how closely matched these two were with the slightly lesser skilled, to a very minor degree, Matsuzaka coming out on top once the judges presented their scorecards! The two fought a very similar and complimentary style while in the cage with perhaps Lee showing more diversity with a heavier mix of kicks, especially to the legs, thrown into the kickboxing mix between them.

The one thing that was apparent was that Lee would have liked to have gotten the fight to the ground, with a nominal four attempts made while in the clinch, but he was never able to get there as Matsuzaka controlled well and got the ‘W’ for his effort.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Baldomir Barbosa, multi-time consideration for top contender in the SPPS Welterweight division, is the next test on tap for Matsuzaka.  Matsuzaka has had opportunities in two promotions to snag the Welterweight title, including one title fight here at SPPS against Juan Christiano, but hasn’t been able to take advantage yet.  A win over Barbosa would make it two in a row and three of his last four since the title fight, certainly giving him every right to start looking towards a future return to contention!

We were going to pit Lee next against Leroy Jinx, but despite a prior loss to Lee Jinx’s management feels that Lee is a trivial challenge and is looking higher up the ladder after his victory over Christiano on this same night.  Honestly, that level of dismissal makes me want to see the fight even more, which would be their second meeting, but instead, Hare is looking into alternative options for each of them.  One thing is sure for Lee though…Matsuzaka is now officially in his head as this makes two losses to him…on only four losses for his career!

***********************

Main Card Bout #2:  Welterweights

Baldomir Barbosa Defeats Ronnie Bass via Decision (Unanimous)

I’d been saying lately that I just didn’t feel like Andrew Wittig, Bass’ manager and the man in charge of several other fighters among the ranks here at Sucker Punch, has truly been fully involved at times.  I said it before the Dismantle fight and I would have said it here as well if we’d done a preview for this event!  I have it on fairly good account that Bass management does feel that they didn’t remember to properly prepare Bass for this one.  So sad…for Bass!

Barbosa and manager Slick Gunderson were more than happy to take advantage of that little lack of focus and came away the winners in this one after the judges laid down their ruling!  After three nasty rounds of hard hits, both in and out of the clinch, Barbosa got the nod in the first and third and even split the second.  His ability to dictate taking the fight to the clinch as well as his better striking, at least for head shots, seemed to do the trick and supply him with the ‘W’.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

We just talked in the prior fight review about Barbosa and Matsuzaka meeting next month.  For Matsuzaka it’s a chance to prove he belongs up in contender consideration territory, or at least very close to it, and for Barbosa that’s a chance to show that he can get back to stringing some wins together which he’s been unable to do over the last four to five fight stretch.  One or two wins from now he could very well earn himself a trip to title considerations!

For Bass, the lack of focus heading into this fight cost him his fourth loss in a row which is almost unbelievable considering this man is a two-time former Sucker Punch Pro Series champ!  But the last loss challenging for the belt against Christiano seems to have left him shaken and unable to right the ship…for now.  We’ll find out if he can stave off young upcoming star Prodigy next month or not.  If not, folks will start to ask if he’s developing into a glorified gatekeeper without the ability to challenge for the title again?

***********************

Main Card Bout #3: Heavyweights

Heavyweight Championship Bout

Hero Shima Defeats ZaDarius Haden via Submission (Armbar)

Our last fight before the Main Events and we get the only finish on the entire Main Card…and not to mention a title fight that surprisingly was lower rated in hype than our remaining two fights on the night!

Haden felt that with his elite wrestling and black belt in Jiu Jitsu that the ground was where he wanted this fight.  He took it there in the first and he repeated that action in the second round.

Haden he held his own in the first, despite having Shima reverse the position putting Haden on his back for a little over a minute.  He was able to reverse things back and gain the top for striking opportunities over the final two-plus minutes though.  Unfortunately for Haden, Shima’s defenses and struggle for positional improvement kept Haden distracted and he was only able to land a couple strikes.

The decision to take it to the ground again in the second round is probably one that Haden would like back though.  Shima was already working sub attempts early from his back and after a reversal by both competitors found his best opportunity of the night, and the only other he’d need, as he sank in an armbar after Haden defended a triangle…leaving Shima the victor and still holding that strap high!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Shima will see Chontamenti again next month for the third time these two have met in their careers, with all three meetings having the belt on the line.  The first two times, Shima used the opportunity to take the belt for himself as the challenger.  This time around, Shima is the defending champion and will either close this series out for good so long as he holds the title, or open some questions about which of these two is the superior fighter overall and given history!  Either way, things get very interesting after this matchup as we have some newly arrived talent to the division that will surely challenge sooner than later!

Haden had won the belt previously from Shima and given the rest of the division’s hesitation to take him on, it seemed only right to let him have a crack at the champ despite his prior fight being a title loss to Chontamenti.  He was unable to reproduce his prior success though as he drops only one of their three meetings here.  With two losses in a row at the top now, he’ll step back for a bit and work to reestablish himself for a bit.  A fight with Krol, who had found a bit of success and then slipped a week ago, seems to be just what the doctor…in this case, if a doctor is actually Hare…ordered!

***********************

Co-Main Event:

Featured Welterweight Bout

Leroy Jinx Defeats Juan Christiano via Decision (Unanimous)

Our next to last fight with the Co-Main Event here also ended up being the ‘Fight of the Night’ as both Jinx and Christiano went at it for three solid rounds!

The fact that by sheer fight stat numbers you’d think Christiano won this fight, especially with the number of leg kicks he landed, should tell you something about Jinx’s ability to get the lead early in this one.  The judges were a bit split over the third round yet Christiano seemed to get the better of it.  Overall, Jinx pushed the pace with the striking though and that seems to be what pushed the judges to his favor and gave him the win!

Donkey?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

There may be some debate over this one for a while I think.  Jinx’s camp will clearly tell you that he won, no doubt.  But I think a solid case could be made that it wasn’t so clear-cut.  Let the debate fester for a bit I say, it’ll make it even better the next time they meet!  For now, Jinx moves ahead in the rankings and closes in on his quest for a title shot.  It may just be a matter of overcoming the next opponent, although Hare isn’t sure who that’ll be yet at this point.

***********************

Main Event:

(Another) Featured Welterweight Bout

Rick Segura Defeats Samuel Sanchez via Decision (Unanimous)

Our Main Event was a huge one for the Welterweight division…a division that was heavily represented at this event…as the winner here was in line for a Top Contender battle and placing themselves ones step away from a Title Shot!

Due to a registration ID in the MMAT world advantage of over 6k, many felt going into this fight that Sanchez was the clear favorite. Segura, young as he may be, had other ideas!  Despite getting punished on the ground by a brutal ground and pound from Segura in the first, Sanchez still chose take the fight to the ground on his own with his only takedown of the fight to start the second round.  That would have been considered a mistake given how Segura dominated the first round but instead Sanchez was able to get a few shots of his own in to score just enough.  He stole the round with the judges all in agreement.

The third round featured two takedowns by Segura, a bunch of reversals throughout the round, and more damage from Segura whenever Sanchez found himself on the ground and on the defensive!  All in all, it was enough to clearly give him the advantage not just in the third round but in the overall scoring of the fight!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Segura moves on and becomes a victim of his own success as he’ll face a tough challenge from newcomer Demetrius Jackson next month. That’s going to be a very tough fight but if he wins, he’ll have more than earned a title shot for his troubles!

Sanchez takes a step back here after being so, so close to the top! He’d won three in a row and looked to be on the fast-track to a future title fight.  That quest will be sidetracked a bit now as he works to regain position and return to gathering up wins next month.  If he can.  Against tough newcomer Mental Warrior!

***********************

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

A bunch of fun in one of our highest rated events ever over at the Sydney Superdome!  We’ll be back tomorrow night as we get ready to preview SPPS 98.  For those in the States preparing to terrorize turkeys everywhere, have a great Thanksgiving folks!

Till next time, have fun and don’t forget…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

was definitely a coin flip as expected but.....

"Christiano throws a hook to the side of Jinx's head but Jinx sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Juan Christiano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Christiano throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jinx.
Christiano throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Christiano.
Well Jinx has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
Judge Darius Henderson scores the fight 28:29
Judge Steve Erwin scores the fight 27:30
Judge Hugh Johnson scores the fight 28:30"
