Bellicose: Burtha vs Vedran Preview

Live from Paddy O'Malleys Bar, a night of hard hitting action is presented before us. With a Heavyweight Headliner and two middleweight top contender matchups we will witness a shakeup of two divisions after tomorrow nights finished. We are expecting a sold out crowd of 700 to be in attendance. We hope you guys enjoy the show! Good luck to all the managers and fighters coming out tomorrow!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Big Burtha  Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Vedran Mihaljevic

#5 Big Burtha vs Vedran Mihaljevic #2

Two of the top five heavyweights come to blows tomorrow night as both put their undefeated streak on the line in hopes of claiming their fifth victory and being considered next in line for the coveted Bellicose Heavyweight Championship! Burtha loves to employ the clinch where he completely crushes his opponent within seconds and when he squares off with Vedran it will no doubt be the toughest test of his career. Mihaljevic, who is considerably dangerous in the clinch himself, has such a high accuracy rate when it comes to striking that he is being regarded as the best puncher in Bellicose. The biggest question I have for this fight is how will Burtha perform after switching managers and switching gyms. Now that he is no longer with RUNT will he come out as aggressive as ever or will we see a slow decline in his ability? With Vedran, we have a similar question but I believe we have an answer in that as we have seen him fight twice under his new manager. Fight fans are in for an absolute treat with this one as we can expect the division to be rattled with dynamite power tomorrow when these two monsters finally get the chance to exchange.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Jake Paul  Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - John Brown

#4 Jake Paul vs John Brown  #1

Former BMF champion, John Brown (4-0) takes on one of Bellicoses fastest rising stars in Jake Paul (3-0)! Paul, who has absolutely ran through his competition and is on the fast track for becoming the next in line for the Bellicose title. Unfortunately, since the collapse of BMF, Bellicose was able to bring in many of the BMF fighters and John Brown who was originally set to face off against the Bellicose champion was asked to take on the number four guy in Bellicose. They both quickly accepted and it is no surprise that the winner of this fight may very well be next in line for a title shot. Brown is appearing to be the stronger and more dangerous opponent out of the two. At the age of 27, Brown looks to be more experienced than a lot of his counterparts. With such a dangerous ground game, he will aim to take down Paul within the opening seconds but the level of wrestling that Paul has may be more than enough to stuff and counter with devastating force. It is no question what either of these fighters will aim to do tomorrow, its a question of who gets it done first!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Tim Horton Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Hick Diaz

#2 Tim Hortonvs Hick Diaz  #5

A rivalry that began back in BMF, Tim Horton (5-0) and Hick Diaz (5-1) were steadily progressing through a tournament chasing after the gold. When these two finally squared off it was Horton the nineteen year old Canadian who walked away with the victory. The two purple belts had a strong desire to get back in there and finally squash the beef. Tim Horton, a dangerous knockout artist was quick to ask for the grudge match and put the finishing touches on the matchup between the two but fight fans are well aware that Hick Diaz is no slouch when it comes to submissions and may be able to pull off something that would shock the Canadian crowd. The Bellicose faithful are very curious how this one will shape out and potentially see one of these guys next in line for the title shot. We are hours away before these two finally step in and this is my pick for fight of the night. I can not wait for this grudge match and I would not be surprised if we see a different outcome than we did in their last meet up!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Bobby Saturn Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Slobba Dahutt

#UR Bobby Saturnvs Slobba Dahutt  #UR

Finishers. Ladies and Gentleman we have two super sized heavyweights who will aim to get their third victory in their career by destroying the other one. Slobba Dahutt (2-0) has made his way in Bellicose by forcing the doctors to stop fights due to cuts. He beat a guy so bad the doctor had to stop the fight due to blood in the very first round...Bobby Saturn (2-0) has these hands that you would think were Thors hammers. He hits so hard not only hear the thud you feel it! We know both of these guys will be fixing to get a stoppage in the first round and honestly, we should expect just that. This match screams violence and allow me to say it now, I would imagine at some point down the road these two will meet once again.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Temujin Atkiray Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Petr Vrabec

#UR Temujin Atkirayvs Petr Vrabec #UR

This is one of the most compelling matchups for me. Temujin Atkiray (3-1) has finally arrived after his QFC stunt and looks to engage a former BMF and now Bellicose warrior in Petr Vrabec (2-2). The two 19 year olds are honestly aiming to get to the top of the mix in their division and win over another will propel them further up the ladder. The matchup on paper may at first seem wildly unfair but when you consider Vrabec is been training two months longer than Atkiray you may begin to second guess that. The goal of this fight is simple, Atkiray has to keep this fight on the feet at all costs where Vrabec will aim to pull gaurd or takedown Atkiray and force the submission. This is going to be a true test of skill and I have no idea who wins this one. Atkiray, primarily known for his ability to knockout his opponents will find joy in knowing that Vrabec has been finished before, however he will find a mental blockade in knowing his one loss comes by way of submission and that is where Vrabec excels.

Bellicose: Daverio vs Dell

Live from Hard Knocks, a night of hard hitting action is presented before us. With a Heavyweight Headliner and two Featherweight Champions set to face off we will witness a true battle for supremacy for the Featherweight Crown. We are expecting a sold out crowd of 3,000 to be in attendance. We hope you guys enjoy the show! Good luck to all the managers and fighters coming out tomorrow!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Mateo Daverio Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Joshi Dell

145 lbs, BELLICOSE (375+) #C Mateo Daverio vs Joshi Dell #1 20210508235136belt.jpg

Featherweight Championship Fight

Tomorrow night, the former BMF Champion, Joshi Dell (5-1) will be taking on the Bellicose Featherweight Champion, Mateo Daverio (4-0). This is by all accounts is the most anticipated fight of the weekend and I am here for it. Joshi Dell makes his entrance into the Bellicose roster and having finished four of his five opponents knows a thing or two about getting the job and is considered wildly dangerous anywhere this matchup will go. With two wins coming by knockout and two coming by way of submission Dell is being considered the favorite by many Bellicose fans. I had a chance to reach out to Daverios camp and they find themselves completely calm with the matchup stating they recognize the strengths of Dell but also recognize his weaknesses. Daverio, the current Featherweight Champion of Bellicose won the title when he defeated ground and pound, and now retired, Patrick Bateman in what was an explosive display of martial arts expertise. Being that this is his actual first title defense, it will be extremely exciting for us as fans to witness a collision of two up stars in the Bellicose world and this is my pick for fight of the night.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Harrison Cutler  Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Xander Montgomery

#5 Harrison Cutler vs Xander Montgomery #4

Lightweight Matchup

Two lightweights looking to continue to climb the ranks are set to meet in the octagon tomorrow night as (3-1) Harrison Cutler looks to get his fourth straight tko victory when he battles Xander Montgomery (6-2). The two combatants will have very different agendas coming into this one as Montgomery will aim to secure his seventh victory and really put himself in the champions sight by earning another submission victory, but to do that he would hope to outlast the strikes put forth by the man who has the ability to put you in unconscious in Cutler.  With only a month apart in their beginning of their mma careers they should find themselves pretty equal in stats and it will mostly boil down to the trainers dictating the game plan. Montgomery will appear to be the underdog in this matchup but should the fight go to the ground at any point fight fans should keep their eyes peeled at all costs as this guy will be relentless in his submission attempts against Cutler.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Arnaud Coleman Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Hristo Borisov

#4 Arnaud Coleman vs Hristo Borisov #UR

Light Heavyweight Matchup

Arnaud Coleman (5-0) has entered Bellicose and within just 12 seconds put his opponent in an unconscious state and in retirement. The very real threat that is Coleman has been called out by the champion in Ike Wellstone and with a win over Hristo, he may very well get it. His upcoming opponent has every bit of confidence in his takedown ability and securing the submission against Coleman before the end of the first. Hristo Borisov (3-1) is desperately trying to break into the top five of the division and to get a win over Coleman will certainly put him on the map for all to see. Its a true matchup of two different martial artists a boxer vs a Jiu Jitsu guy. I think by all accounts we should expect this matchup to end before the end of the first round and I would put money on it that this will either become the Submission or Knockout of the night.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Aleksi Saari Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Alonnus Parker

#UR Aleksi Saari vs Alonnus Parker #UR

Light Heavyweight Matchup

Parker vs Saari has all the makings of a classic mma bout. With two guys looking to finally break into the top of their divisions so much is on the line. Parker who is coming off his first career loss via guillotine feels no real threat from the submission skills of Saari and believes that due to his age he will have a significant amount of experience over his opponent. Rumors have begun to spread that Pakers morale has been dipping lower as of late and Saari is banking on punishing Parker every time he slips up. This has a real potential in going the distance but if I was completely honest, one of these two guys will undoubtedly be finished by the other in what will surely bring the fans to their feet.

Friday Night October 29th

6w17.jpg 8w9.jpg

 [C] Pustik vs Wilson [1]
265 lbs, BELLICOSE (375+)

Heavyweight Championship

Two Undefeated Heavyweights look to impinge on one another in what should see fight the weekend begin with a bang. The Bellicose Heavyweight Champion (3-0) Prokop Pustik, is been a force in his first three fights in the cage putting opponents unconscious and leaving them coiled up in the cage all within under 2 minutes. Growing to become more and more of a menace to his division, he has accepted a challenge from a giant in Klarney Wilson a (6-0) fighter currently holding our Number One Contender spot in the Bellicoses Heavyweight Division. With Head Kick knockouts to tko stoppages this guy exudes violence with every breath and desperately desires to get a stoppage in this one. With a solid chin and expert muay thai skills, this powerful contender believes he has what it takes to snatch the belt away from the champion but in order to do that he will have to outlast the storm that we have all come to know as Pustik. The reality of this fight is it will either go to the ground or stay standing and if it is a standing matchup you would have to imagine Wilson gets his seventh win but if it goes to the ground, I don't imagine the purple belt Wilson will be able to stay awake for long and will see his first defeat at the hands of the Bellicose champion in Pustik.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Frank Mir Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Balthasar Van Thüringen

 [UR] Mir vs Thüringen [UR]
Heavyweight Matchup

Two Heavyweights desperately trying to break into the top five come to a point of no return when Thüringen (2-0) looks to engage in a dangerous conflict with the more experienced Mir (5-3). The submission artist known as Mir has also shown his ability in his knockout power but regardless of where the fight goes, Mir is synonymous with finisher. Taking on the newly acquired Thüringen he hopes to derail the hype train and put an end to the "Future Champ" hype everyone has been going on about on BUZZ. The "Thüringen Train" has only been active in the cage for a total of 32 seconds and has seen both of its passengers dropped off with immediacy. Mir, who has a solid chin believes that he can take his opponents best shots and eventually find a way to be the one with his hand held high at the end of the night.

Saturday Night October 30th

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Jaco The Rastafarian Priest  Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Hiroshima Nagasaki

 [2] Priest vs Nagasaki [1]
265 lbs, BELLICOSE (375+)

Super Heavyweight Championship

This matchup is one of the fights I am most excited for over the weekend. At one time, Bellicose was looking to close down its SHW division and merge the fighters to Heavyweight. The fighters reacted with a desire to stay in the SHW division and now, here we are providing two monsters the chance to fight for the title. The number one and number two guy in the division, Jaco Priest (5-1) battles Hiroshima Nagasaki (5-1). Both guys are actually coming off of a loss which is a little funny given that they are fighting for the title and have yet to fight in Bellicose itself. Despite the odd criteria, they have a combined 7 first round knockout victories. Now, looking ahead to Saturday Night, fight fans can expect a certain confidence to exude over both fighters as we look forward to crown our very first Super Heavyweight Champion and carefully await the rise of future contenders like Bobby Saturn and Jared Blake, the former BMF champion, to get their name called up to the for the title shot! Ladies and gentleman, if you haven't been following this division, start now because I can promise you it will get a whole hell of a lot more interesting in the coming weeks.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Sean Dash  Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Jerry Goon

 [C] Dash vs Goon[1]
265 lbs, BELLICOSE (375+)

Bantamweight Championship

Just moments before two of the biggest fighters square off we have two of the smallest warriors come head to head for the Bantamweight Championship in what should be a fast paced, electrifying matchup. Sean Dash (6-1) has continually improved over his young career and even more recently had scored a shocking 17 second knockout victory over the former champion. Dash, who welcomes any and all challengers has been called out by Jerry Goon (4-1) the former Featherweight champion for a while. The tension between these two is growing higher and higher and it has reached a boiling point. Just last week at a phone call presser the two got into a heated exchange. Fans have been taking sides on BUZZ and quite frankly leaving us in an awkward position on how to react to the aggressive nature. You can imagine both fighters will be studying carefully how the other picked up their one career loss and looking to employ some of those tactics in their upcoming fight. Dash, who takes this fight on will look to defeat a former, heavier champion and really stake claim in a possible HOF award in the future. Goon, who was once the former champion desperately desires to hold Gold yet again and believes that the Bantamweight weight class is the perfect fit for him and will perform exceedingly well. Only time will tell fans.

Sunday Night October 31st

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Moussa Kabore  Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Datte Bayo

 [C] Kabore vs Bayo[1]
265 lbs, BELLICOSE (375+)

Lightweight Championship

The hype is very real in the lightweight division. Datte Bayo(3-0) has earned his shot at the Bellicose Lightweight Championship after scoring a trilogy of first round knockouts. The fast paced fighter from Japan is convicted in his belief that he will be the next Champion of the Lightweight division. His opponent and champion, Moussa Kabore (4-0) is by no means a walk in the park. After recently acquiring the Lightweight Title, this submission specialist will look to break down the walls of Bayo and make him tap out. The danger is high in this one for both fighters as in any second the matchup could go either way. Kabore is only a blue belt in BJJ but has submitted two brown belts and two blue belts himself so he has every bit of confidence that should he get Bayo to the ground, Bayo wont believe in much anymore. It should be said that Bayo will look to get this fight to the clinch and cause havoc with his strikes against Kabore but will have to watch out for Kabore to pull guard. Rumor has it that Moussa has been training extensively on his ability to get the fight to the ground from any position. Regardless of who wins I can almost promise fight fans this one ends in the first couple of minutes of the first round.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Bill Smif Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Dakota Thibodeaux Jr.

 [4] Smif vs Thibodeaux Jr.[UR]

Light Heavyweight Matchup

Dakota Thibodeaux Jr. (1-0) is an upcoming kickboxing superstar. With a 3-0 record, Dakota has knocked out all of his kickboxing opponents within the very first round. Having begun his martial arts career back in June of this year, he saw his very first mixed martial arts fight go the distance against a now retired Alex Tozwa who took over 30 elbows to the side of the head and saw all of his 28 takedowns stuffed. Thibodeaux was barely 17, not even a senior in high school when he took on this matchup. After a few months, his Manager decided it would be best to put him in a Kickboxing org. With the first match going against a 25 year old with 8 fights under his belt and former title challenger, Rory Roshi. The fight lasted fifteen seconds. Thibodeaux rushed into his next opponent with vicious elbows that saw the referee stop the fight in the very first round. Thibodeaux Jr. class mates had celebrated the young warrior by showering him with a surprise after party, and to their surprise, he accepted a last minute fight which he invited them all to attend against former kickboxing champion Babers who woke up from the canvas and decided it was time for him to hang up the gloves. Thibodeaux Jr. is by all accounts the real deal when it comes to striking, now with such an insane amount of hype that is growing from his hometown and his classmates at his school, he looks to make his return to the cage against the #4 Light Heavyweight in the Bellicose division in Bill Smif (4-1). Unlike Thibodeaux other opponents, Smif is known as a catastrophic finisher. The very aggressive Smif prefers to keep it at distance and overwhelm his opponents with strikes throwing what is necessary. The only loss on his record comes from an opponent who knew that if he would have continued to stand and trade he wouldnt be standing for long. Smif, is coming off his most impressive victory to date, defeating the unbeaten phenom Nigel Victors in what was a most fantastic display of clinch work perfection. Smif has this taste of unpredictability to him, where you never know if he is going to work the body, engage in the clinch, throw combos or single shots. His stats do not match up like so many other fighters one dimensional game plan and that is why he has been so successful.

One thing we should not expect to see is either fighter looking to get this fight to the ground. Both of their strength lies in getting this fight at striking distance. With a high intensity rate, we can expect both of these guys to come out swinging. With the classic style of Thibodeaux, we can assume it will be mostly single shots and awaiting an opening to get the clinch. Smif will most certainly be aware of this and will probably look to counter that initiative with a combination which could prove devastating to Dakota. A lot is riding on the line for both of these young warriors. Bill Smif has stated repeatedly that he is not to be held accountable for any permanent damage that occurs to Thibodeaux where as the young high school senior has openly asked for a casket to be present at cage side. Both managers have vocalized a hint of concern as they are unsure if their fighter can really pull this one off, the two talented managers who both own their own orgs, consider that their guy does have it in themselves to win but are quite aware that the opponent does as well.

With this being Bill Smifs last fight on his contract, Bellicose fans are curious to see where the Light Heavyweight warrior may go. Some have speculated that he will go to Highland where @clydebankblitzruns a top five org for 25 year old's and above. Some have speculated that he is holding out for a better contract offer while others are stating he fears facing Daniels or Victors a second time. The controversy that is behind Smiff is certainly there and the excitement factor of where this young, eventual champion, will go is something to be watched.

With Smiff on his last fight of his contract he paves the way for Thibodeaux Jr to enter into his first fight of his contract. Thibodeaux facing a top five opponent in the division has an immediate target on his back and you can imagine that other fighters will be looking to break down the doors to take on Thibodeaux if he wins this bout. Being signed to both Thibodeauxs Fight Club, a highly rated kickboxing org and to Bellicose, we can probably imagine that this high school senior will take on all and any opponent, including @Ikkitakeda's Hank McCoy, a fellow High School student and knockout artist, who has been getting in the mix of both of these two and looking to eventually take one if not both of them on.

Fight Fans, by all accounts this fight is the fight the fans have been waiting for the most. The time is upon us. Will it be Smif or Dakota? Good luck to both managers and their fighters in what i hope will become the Bellicose Fight of the Year!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Hank McCoy

Hank "The Beast" McCoy
(2-0)

The Young Eighteen year old high school student from Hawaii has taken the Bellicose world by storm. His youthfulness matched with his martial arts ability has been something of a crowd pleaser. With no fear in his heart, this young gun has called out some of the most dangerous strikers in his division and continues to look for a challenge in any shape that it takes. McCoy, who has won both of his fights via knockout looks to take on a dangerous Anders Kristansen next weekend. Kristansen a 4-1 fighter based out of New York will welcome McCoy and hope to land one of his highlight reel knockouts against McCoy and remind him of the importance of staying in school. McCoy, who recognizes his opponents talent still seems to show no fear and is already waiting to see who is next opponent may be. Fight fans around the Bellicose have been watching the scenes of McCoy/Smiff/Thibadeaux we come to find out he will be watching this fight front row as he has already landed in New York for his bout this weekend.

The following is an interview that we were able to share with you about McCoy, who he is and what he is about. We hope you enjoy this piece, and if you would like your fighter interviewed in the near future please have no hesitation in reaching out and we can make it happen!

Q: Hank McCoy, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with us on this Friday afternoon.
A: Oh it's my pleasure. I am happy to be able to fit you guy's in.

Q. So, you just began a professional mixed martial arts career at the age of 17. What did your parents think of you engaging in physical combat at such a young age?
A: I think my first fight was actually at 16 but go on. Well my parents were ok with it. I mean they had me in Tae Kwon Do since the age 7, and it was their idea for me to join the wrestling team as being a student athlete looks good on college applications. So I would say they are ok with it.

Q. If i am correct, your parents and manager have come to an agreement that you are only allowed to fight once a month so you can focus on your studies. Have you seen this beneficial for you?
A: Well they want to make sure I have time for my studies but they also want to keep me grounded and not let it take over my life and miss out on still being a kid. I couldn't thank them enough for caring like that. Definitely my biggest supporters.

Q. With so many other priorities in your life, school, sports, and friendships, how do you find the time to manage all of that with training at Old School Training in Hilo?
A: Well my only sport is wrestling but it's like extra training. I'm already a two time high school state champion wrestler and going for my 3rd straight this year. Which it's actually more rare for someone to be multiple champion high school state wrestler than it is for someone to be a multiple NCAA champion wrestler. I dropped Tae Kwon Do but training I do at Old School Training is far more advanced and well rounded than the Tae Kwon Do was anyways. My friends and I actually have a weekly thing where we hangout and go surfing which is good balance training and something to do where we can just hangout and chill. So it's good to find ways to cut out time but also fill in that time with things and people that are important to me. And aside from fight night my parents do keep me with a curfew/bedtime to make sure I get my rest.

Q. You just recently acquired your purple belt. What does that mean to you?
A: Yes I just received my purple belt in BJJ. It means so much to me and signs that I am getting better. When I started at Old School Training I was an athletic guy who was already a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a pretty good wrestler, but I didn't know anything about bjj so it's a big accomplishment for me and a show of growth. Not to mention it was given by a good friend. It was actually his old purple belt.

Q. You made a friend in James "Wolverine" Howlett a Canadian teen who now lives in Hilo and trains with you. When do you expect to see him fight and will you be in his corner or will you be in the stands when he finally fights?
A: Yeah James Howlett is my boy. He's a great guy. I expect to see him sign sometime soon. I know he has told me he is ready to get in there. I'm not sure. That's really his call to make and not mine. If he wants me in his corner I'll be there, but if not I'll definitely be in the audience cheering him on. I could definitely understand if he doesn't want me in his corner as we have some of the best coaches in the world on my opinion at Old School Training. It's very Spartan but effective.

Q. James, a brown belt himself, is reported to be your number one training partner. What has his training meant to you especially in Jiu-Jitsu?
A: He's my main training partner when it comes to grappling he's a bit too small for me to spar with but man he taps me out on a daily basis. And it's pretty amazing I'm a multiple time state champion wrestler and much bigger than he is but he moves me around like I'm a novice.

Q. Now Bellicose is based in New York. How do you like fighting for Bellicose and is there anything you wish were different?
A: Yeah Bellicose is based in New York which is nice. It's a neat get away and totally different atmosphere than Hawaii. I like it here.

Q. Being that Bellicose is based I there, how do you enjoy fighting in New York? It is certainly a lot of travel time and different time zones. What does your week look like when you finally get up there?
A: I really get there like just a day ahead so I go weigh in and then we go out to eat, spend some time at the hotel pool, do a bit of training in the room, and then end with some hot tub time to help heal up. Then sleep and head to the place of the event.

Q. I imagine it is tough to miss some weekends away from family and friends to travel up there but in particularly your rumored significant other...Now we are hearing some, romantic news, pardon me if this is too much, but there has been reports that you are now dating someone who you took to homecoming, is this correct? How does she feel about you fighting?
A: Those are false rumors. My parents don't let me date. They said I'm not allowed until I'm off on my own and in college. That was just a friend.

Q. I want to ask you some more hard hitting questions now, but there are some big fights in the next two weekends, especially in your division. Give us your thoughts of who should be the top five in your weight division at Bellicose and how do you rank them.
A: That is really tough to say. There are so many great fighters in my division. 205 is completely stacked. I try not to worry about who is where as things can always be quickly shaken up especially when the division is this stacked. Just take my fights one at a time and focus on my opponent in front of me.

Q. Speaking of top five, We witnessed you jump in the mix between the Smiff and Thibodeaux Jr. controversy. Would you like to find yourself fighting either one of these guys in the future?
A: I would love to fight the winner of I win my next match or the loser if I lose mine.

Q. Who do you see taking that fight Sunday night, Smiff or Thibodeaux Jr. and how?
A: I'm going with Smiff. They both have taken it too far and I enjoy the sportsmanship of the sport but going as far as to say you are going to kill your opponent is way out of line so I'm rooting for Smiff in that fight. And I can't see that fight in any way but knockout.

Q. You have fought two guys in your career but the one I want to focus on is Leroy Rider. Leroy was a very serious threat with multiple first round knockouts. You not only knocked him out but forced him into retirement at the age of 27. Reflect with us on that whole experience for you.
A: It was a great experience. He was a guy I followed growing up so it was an honor to face him. It was heartbreaking to see him walk away after.

Q. Now you are scheduled to take on, in my opinion, your toughest fight to date in Anders Kristansen a 4-1 twenty one year old who has forced fighters into submissions via strikes and knocked opponents out cold. Squaring off with him next weekend, how do you see yourself getting the W?
A: No doubt. Anders Kristansen is a an absolute animal. He is a tough opponent indeed. On paper I'm way better but he is dangerous and can drop anyone at any moment. He's a fighter that you look at and just know he's going to box but landing a devastating head kick KO in his last fight. So you have to be mindful to not get lolled into just watching his hands. Well if I want to take this fight to the ground he doesn't stand a chance in stopping me, but I want to show I can stand with him so I'm going for the KO.

Q. Where does a win against Kristansen put you in the division, in your opinion?
A: Like I said earlier I don't really worry about that kind of stuff. If I win it puts me one fight closer to being THE GUY in the division and a loss doesn't.

Q. Is there anything you wish to share with us before we let you go?
A: I'm ready to get this show on the road. It's a big fight for me. Ready to get in there and show what I got.

Q. We definitely want to thank you for your time and wish you the very best next weekend! We will be sure to watch your reaction of the fight tomorrow night!
A: Thank you. Looking forward to this opportunity next week.
