  1. Young Blood: "0 and 8 in grappling equals 0 fucks givin'. I ain't bout that gay shit, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I go no skills when it comes to rolling around and huggin dudes. Shit, if I'm bout to put my hands on another man it will be my Nyquil knuckles to their eye. Macho, respect to you for winning phase one. But that won't matter when you step in the ring with me. See you soon. Like the diamonds in my grill it's BG's time to shine!"

  3. Thank you for the feedback guys - I know I've received some awesome ideas privately too! Will be going ahead and approving this but unfortunately it will be very low on the priority list as we have bigger changes to tackle first In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the content our two new Tycoon Times editors are producing!

  4. Knees are like headkicks and combos to a lesser extent. Hard to land but very, very effective. At bigger weights, one knee with good KO power is almost all it takes to wind your opponent. However, you can also really easily gas yourself throwing an excess of them. High risk, high reward. Elbows I've never entirely been sold on because of the cost to get them unless your opponent has some cuts issues, which punches do just fine against in general. But! There are a few rare guys that are devastating with elbows. I don't think they're weaker than punches to be honest, and they are better at cutting people. It's not that they're bad compared to punches, it's just that they take just as long as any other skill to use and yet they can only be used in one phase of the fight. I think the reason you don't see as many of the clinch only skillsis actually because of 1) Learning taking forever and 2) Skill point caps. You literally can't take both (or even one if the fighter is slow) without big sacrifices in defensive grappling skills or no kicks - much worse tradeoffs. I think dumbing down punches in the clinch without changing anything else wouldn't make people take more knees/elbows, because it doesn't address the reasons why you don't see them as often.

  5. at the end of the day vip is what pays for this game. penalising those that have stuck it out through the good and bad is not a good business model. In fact it will have the opposite effect. There will be no game without vip managers

  9. Unless I'm missing something, this doesn't sound any different to the learning speed hidden... Having something like this in parallel to learning speeds feels like an unnecessary shortcut to artificially level some relatively non-existent playing fields. I would get 0 satisfaction from getting a fighter with high professionalism hidden and cutting to the top of the P2P as a result; that's one way to quickly tire the game out and make it boring for all involved. There's a fine balance when it comes to these things, one of which being the learning speed hidden - it already provides new and old players an equal playing field so long as you're playing within your ID range when starting - if you look at the Island as an example, old and new managers have a level playing field where they all go against each other with relatively similar fighter stat distributions. If the intent with this was for the new boy on the block billy KO'ing the top P4P fighters because of his turbo-charged Professionalism then unfortunately the intent is misdirected. I like the creativity that comes with the suggestion though so I appreciate you taking your time to put this together as it helps us think about another dimension to an already solid system. Unfortunately, we won't be progressing with this suggestion so therefore it's denied. Hope you're not discouraged from suggestion more of your ideas in the future!

  10. If you are looking to train an 18 year old as a long term high level fighter you want to avoid physicals until you are readying them for fighting. Physicals train at the same speed all career long, but the other skills train fastest when the fighter is young. Using up the fastest possible training for physicals or time lost from fight recovery can slow a fighters progress and in some cases prevent them from reaching their highest levels. Mind you this does depend on how often you do these things, as a single fight won't cripple a fighter and you can gain some valuable info to help you determine if this is a project worth putting time and money into. Don't spar early as sparring gives some skill gain to associated secondaries, so if you spar MT for example you would have skill points bleeding into kicks, elbows and knees at least. This again could have you reaching the skill can before you max every skill you had planned on (which usually is 7 or 8). Boxing is about the only one you can get away with early, as the secondaries are generally critical for any MMA fighter. Sparring one skill all the way and switching, or spreading into the varying skills you want would depend on your plans for the fighter I'd say. Both are workable for a long term project, though if you wanted to take the odd fight along the way shoring up any glaring weakness might be something to consider.

  11. It isn't age depended per say, even young guys can de-pop. Basically, if they haven't trained a skill in a while it will de-pop. If they get too old they will de-pop even if they train that. If they have reached their skill cap something will de-pop. You can still improve a skill, it just means something else will de-pop. Training a skill resets the ticker. Having a fight/grappling match also resets all tickers. About the injury thing, I honestly can't remember what effect the injuries had, I think it was for skill cap but since I'm not certain I can't speak on that. Hopefully someone will chime in. Ticker is just the time it takes for something to de-pop. So if you train punches all the time for a young fighter, he will not de-pop punches at all since he isn't near his skill cap and you are training it constantly. But if you train only punches for like 3 months, your other skills will have de-popped if you didn't train them at all and you didn't fight. In the above example boxing sparring would "slow down the ticker" for punches as well, but it isn't the same as a ticker reset by training the punching skill.

  12. Yeah as said above, depends on learning speed and also how many fighters are training in the same session (the fewer, the better). ~35 sessions (just took a look from few of my guys at the Superb range to get that number). There is no way to answer this question really, too many variables. Are you going to fight him? How often? What discipline (MMA/KT/TWGC)? What's his learning speed? Are you aiming him for the big leagues or do you actually want to fight with them early? What do you wish for his build to be? Are you willing to micro-manage enough to avoid tickers kicking in? Do you have enough sparring partners for him? Personally, I don't have any interest in tinkering weekly with training as I have so many fighters (semi-"autobotting" as they say here), so I am trying to avoid tickers kicking in like a plague since de-pops are very demoralizing.

  13. That would depend on their learning speed. Testing your fighters learning speed is critical no knowing wether you will keep them or cut them

  14. MILF 33 Heavyweight-Bayou vs Lopez Bayou, hailing from the famous Laz Staz camp, is touted as a great fighter, especially by his manager. He has not lost a fight since arriving on the island, and likely would be in the playoffs already if he didn’t make the bad decision of joining UIW first. Since joining MILF, he is 2-0 against top competition and the ref has had to stop both fights because of the damage this man inflicted. Lopez is a allrounder, getting a submission win and a KO win. He is incredible on the ground, able to tap you or pound you. Some people say he’s like a snake, able to squeeze you but he puts some venom in his punches. Lopez comes from the Furious Tyson camp, which has put out many other great island fighters this season. Lopez will definitely try to take this to the ground while Bayou will go for the KO on the feet. Prediction: Bayou by KO Heavyweight-Maluga vs Fisherman Kukina Maluga had a disappointing start to his island season, dropping his first 2 fights, then getting a finish in the third. If he gets another first round finish, he will join the tie for the playoffs. Anything else eliminates him. Fisherman is 1 win away from clinching playoffs, with 11 points. He’s only 18, but he’s performed great so far against admittedly lesser competition. This is a striker vs striker fight, so most likely the 25 year old should win. But don’t doubt this prodigy if an 18 year old! Chip Nickel, an old fighter and reporter, has said that Kilo told him “if Kukina doesn’t make the playoffs he’ll never be my son.” That is unverified. That’s rough, but honestly, if I was the best fighter in the planet I’d disown my failure son too. Kukina will be fighting his hardest to win his fathers approval, but will it be enough? Prediction: Kukina gets his 1st round KO then sadly loses the tiebreaker and gets disowned

  15. In my experience, even among fighters that do have Knees and are good with it, their primary clinch weapon is Punches. While Knees are an exquisite, extraordinary afterthought that is used only as an add-on, at considerable cost. The point about people not training Knees and Elbows due to the skill point cap is one of the reasons why the suggestion was made in the first place. If Punches are the primary weapon from outside and at least as effective as Knees and Elbows in the clinch, then there is no reason to train Knees and Elbows - which leads us to the unified meta blueprint that makes the game more boring than it could be.

  16. I think on paper it's a great idea. However, realizing a year later that the fighter you spent a lot of time and energy training up is actually not going to be worthwhile would be extremely frustrating in this game since it takes so long to develop prospects. Works well in other sims, probably more annoying than it would be worth in MMA Tycoon.

  17. I have multiple guys with knees and elbows. Punches land far more commonly, so it's not very advantageous to use knees. And elbows are so much weaker than punches. It's very evident in KT, which I enjoy in the game.

  19. Skill point cap is already randomised between two values as I understand it, all this does is make it a little more sketchy long after a fighter has been developed & I think that's a shitty deal after all the hoops managers jump through to select worthwhile project fighters. Front-loading selection failure points I am okay with, surpise-screwing a fighter after managers have invested a bunch of time & money is a complete dick-move only masochists could appreciate.
    1 point
  20. Even the playing field for new managers means another random ability that is an addon to learning speed? I am not seeing how this would add anything to the game as it stands, and if it works the way you make it sound it should work against players who have put time into the game? Let me know if I am missing something here. There is plenty of unpredictability with the way abilities are generated, some managers are committed to cutting anything less than the best and training only what they plan on keeping. I'm open to solutions for gym's but I think access for that is addressed in another suggestion.

  21. BANZAI COMBAT 12 – Preview This is the one we have been waiting for folks! The top two Heavyweights in BANZAI COMBAT will go toe to toe to crown the promotions first ever Heavyweight Champion! The excitement is almost too much for me! I don’t know what state I’ll be in come Saturday for this one! Main Card Main Event – Heavyweight Championship - Kingston Brewer vs Junior Daniel Both fighters come into this 5-round title bout with undefeated records! Expect this one to be EXPLOSIVE!!! Whatever happens I predict one of these fighters will end up on their back looking up at the light! Someone is getting knocked out!! Brewer has the advantage in the wrestling department and has proven himself to be an effective fighter in the clinch. Junior Daniel however prefers to stay on the outside and so far during his career has shied away from the clinch. This could well be where the fight is won and lost! Don’t be fooled however as Brewer could get his light knocked out long before the fight ever makes it to the clinch! I cannot wait for this one! BANZAI COMBAT history will be made when the words “And the new”……. are announced come Saturday Co-Main Event – Heavyweight - Theo Almeida vs Zaid Silva As if our main event wasn’t enough the Co-Main event is an absolute cracker! These two men were used as mere stepping stones by our two title contenders in the main event but both Almeida and Silva bounced back immediately with impressive wins to get their careers right back on track! What an interesting encounter this will be as Almeida holds the wrestling advantage and might fancy taking the fight to the floor. Silva however will be stalking his opponent like prey and you can bet your bottom dollar he will be looking for the KO! The winner might even put themselves in line for the next title shot and what a storyline it would be if it worked out that Almeida wins and gets a title shot against Brewer, or likewise for Silva if he wins, it might work out that he gets an opportunity to avenge his defeat to Daniel in a title match! This intriguing heavyweight storyline will work itself out come Saturday! Bantamweight - Arnaud De Gindra vs John Doe A complete shift in gears for this next fight as two undefeated fighters make their BANZAI COMBAT Debut! This one could well go to the ground but John “Master Flow” Doe has good stand-up ability as well, and may try to use that to his advantage. De Gindra is a couple of years older than his opponent which may give him a slight advantage but expect an exciting grappling contest in this one. Light-Heavyweight - Gonzo Dragosavac vs Billy Binch Dad bod of the year winner Gonzo Dragosavac spent his days streetfighting back in Serbia before he was spotted and taken to Montreal to put his fists to good use as an MMA fighter. His opponent Billy Binch is a one-man wrecking machine and will not be intimidated in the slightest! This one could end in the blink of an eye! Welterweight - Justine Hyper vs Dany Moreno Justine Hyper is a completely unknown quantity from the Philippines making his MMA debut. His opponent, Danny Moreno is giving away a year in age but with his proficient wrestling and strong boxing skills he will be hoping to keep this fight standing and look for the KO. Undercard Heavyweight - Matt Field vs Under Walker I honestly thought we had made an administration error when I looked at Matt Field’s height! Stocky is the word! And he is fighting a bit of a stick! What an unusual looking pair these two will be in the cage on Saturday! Lol Field may come like a cannonball at his opponent or he might get nowhere near him. I am interested to see what transpires in this one. Bantamweight- Yip Man vs Petsilathai Sitsongrit I smell a test fight! Does anyone else smell a test fight? BANZAI COMBAT is privileged to welcome back the game’s No 1 Manager Theksit Ruengruong as one of the newest members of the Sitsongrit camp, Petsilathai Sitsongrit comes to show us what he has got! I wonder does he like pizza? Lol His opponent Yip Man is another 18 year old creation making his debut on Saturday! Featherweight Augier De Rabat vs Seung Woo Choi Next! Haha - Only joking! These 2 fighters are both coming off loosing streaks but a good win for either of them will get their careers back on track. Choi has the advantage in stand-up whilst his opponent has the better wrestling and BJJ skills. These types of fights always make an interesting match-up! Featherweight - Brandon Hera vs Enrique Rivera Enrique Rivera was bitterly disappointed to lose a unanimous decision on his MMA debut. Today he announced on his social media the following message – “Two more days till I can show the world what I can really do! #Banzai #BC12” The highly motivated Rivera will be fighting an opponent who may want to take this one to the ground. Super excited for this fight! It promises to be a good one! Welterweight - Alexander Frost vs Tre Davis Alexander Frost comes into his BANZAI COMBAT debut on a 5-fight win street! He will be looking to throw his little opponent around for a while, take him to the ground and submit him! Tre Davis’s only hope will be to keep this one standing. Overview Date: 16 Mar 2024 Venue: Hard Knocks - Tokyo Merchandise Partner: Sakura Style

  22. Hey guys, so sorry! That was totally my fault! Amateur Hour! lol. I will get it right next time fingers crossed 😂 Perhaps if Tycoon Times has not been running for a while, managers have perhaps tailed off from submitting articles as they maybe had given up on them ever being published. Please feel free to submit away and if there is more demand I'll publish as often as feasible. Is there knowone else doing any org writing at the minute apart from myself? Would be nice to see a good variety of org stuff coming in too!

  23. Having everything in one place & just having the cosmetic tags of cities, countries, regions etc. is not something I would wholly object either, one big advantage of that is that buying items gets everything to the Manager/Fighter right away rather than waiting 3 days, I don't think the design of the game even needs that any more after the no-travel, it's arbitrary now. The Timezones for fights could just be baked in for each of the venues and arguably this gives the programmers a much wider choice when it comes to simulating the real world by way of arenas/stadiums since with everything in one "world" rather than specific cities any & all venues could have their fight times set to reflect their real-world location even more easily without the need to create more cities at all. Then you can simulate Miami or any other city virtually through a selection of venues for it.
    1 point
  24. They are just cosmetic as Skuzbukit said. IMO it would be a waste of time to add a new city and multiple locations when we no longer travel and is confusing for new users. I think everything should be in one location to make it easier, except the Island of course.
    1 point
  25. Locations in general are dumb, rejected
    1 point
  26. May want to consider increasing the vending machine size, considering that managers now have the potential of a 30+ fighter roster and we had nowhere near that when the original vending machine size was settled on. A notification system for the vending machine running low would be a good compromise.

  27. Super Macho Man: Eh, the "reward" for winning the grappling phase is to be first out against the top striker? And we are supposed to actually hit each other now? Eh, I'm cool with that of course.. but there is something completely unrelated I have to tell you. I accidentally grabbed birdmans hair at one point in our match which is an illegal move.. trust me I know all about it from people not being able to keep their hand away from my beautiful mane.. but anyway as I'm all about sportsmanship I'm coming out to say as it is.. and accept my DQ and transfer to the other group.

  29. We are due for a new location. A lot of cities are dying. I don't see the problem add Miami to the game

  30. Because we need a con. Even though Miami has no cons The sites population is very small and not as active. Could it support another city? Maybe, maybe not. They will for Miami though.

  31. Suggestion: Add Miami to the game Pros: New location added to the game that many managers have been asking for Cons: ........
    -1 points
  32. Different locations does have some game-design merit even if I wish it was better. The 3 days wait period for example is sometimes the reason I buy from one company over another. It does add a little bit of strategy to where you open a company or org. I think we can live with how it is for now and maybe some day have the location system improved instead of removed. Who knows, maybe the player base will even grow as the game gets modernized and we will have enough playerbase again to have local fight scenes etc become meaningful again.

  33. Yes please, the clinch is so broken. It's probably the most unrealistic part of the engine.
    -1 points
  34. Knees are very effective in the clinch if they are trained up. I've knocked out more fighters with knees than punches in the clinch. People tend not to train elbows as much as you have to prioritize what skills you want to max with the skill point cap. Punches on the other hand tend to be trained every time as they are useful both at range and in the clinch, which is realistic. I don't see the issue.
    -1 points
  35. Suggestion: Make Punches less effective in the clinch - in parallel, make the Muay Thai primary enable the effectiveness of Elbows and Knees Suggestions Description: Every clinch exchange in the game looks like Frye vs. Takayama. Fighters are just slugging punches at each other from very close range. It's boring. If Punches are less effective, and Elbows and Knees are relatively more effective, the clinch: 1) will look more realist, 2) will be less boring, 3) will require more variation in sliders settings, and 4) will relate better to the relevant primaries --> if you have an advantage in Boxing + Wrestling (and considering other relevant variables) maybe you should be landing Punches at will but if the other guy has great Muay Thai + Clinchwork then he should be able to land Elbows and Knees, and they should be potentially as effective as Punches. Pros: increased realism increased variation to the game requires more attention to sliders setting, rewards careful managers Cons: perhaps a minor change compared to others that are necessary?
