Garrick Ballantyne, the double elite striker that couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag, I have more power in my pubic hairs than he does in his hands.. Just exactly how do you think you are going to stop me? Tickle me till I wet my pants? 2 straight losses in this tourney already, the third is coming up.

THE FIX IS IN?

By : Justin Cider - MMAHead Media

I've never done what you would consider "war time" journalism, but that can be forgiven since I am just a mere MMA journalist. So how I found myself riding in the back of this SUV with a black bag over my head, driving down some God forsaken road in the middle of the desert is still somewhat confusing to me. I sit here pondering the events of the last week or so to try and make sense of how I found myself in this moment.

By now most of you will have heard of the death, and suspected murder, of Christopher Bossman a longtime employeee of Grace Industries. It seems as though he and Mr. Grace had stumbled upon something they shouldn't have and someone is doing their best to try and control the damage this information can, and should, do. No one is really certain why Mr. Bossman was in the room, or at least in a vantage point to capture the damaging photo that was released, for the apparent bribing of the head of the athletic commission prior to the Luka Beck/Artie Lange fight, but that doesn't change the fact he was able to capture what transpired. Unfortunately for him he turned up dead, and headless, just a day later.

For their safety Lange, and his manager Mr. Grace were whisked away into the federal witness protection program. No one has heard from them since other then a very brief press release from Mr. Grace. I guess this is where I enter the story. Mr. Grace and I have always had a good professional relationship, and he has allowed me essentially unlimited access to himself and all his fighters, so he reached out to me through some very unusual channels. I was requested to meet at a private hanger last night at 2200 hrs. It was there that I was greeted by a small group of men that can only be properly described as mercenaries. I boarded the plane and quickly fell asleep after a glass of juice. I suspect I was drugged so I would be disoriented. I awoke as our plane touched down on a very remote airstrip, if it could even be called that, seemingly in the middle of a vast desert. I couldn't be sure how long I was out since I had been stripped naked, and all my personal items had been removed from my person. I was thrown some ratty clothes and told I had five minutes to be ready. A quick five minutes later I was the fortunate receipient of this black bag I am currently wearing, and guided into this SUV. It seems as though we have been driving for quite some time, but to be honest I have no real idea if we've been gone for a couple minutes, hours, or even days.

The SUV is slowing. We finally come to a stop and I hear the doors open. A few minutes later I am allowed to exit the vehicle and am then guided inside a building. Once inside the bag is removed from my head and I see I'm in a small warehouse. It's empty with the exception of a table in the center with three chairs. One chair is empty. The other two see Artie Lange and Chuck Grace seated. I am invited to sit down.

Justin - So. Anyone care to elaborate as to why I am here? Or why the need for the right out of a movie method of my transport?

Chuck - Well it's quite simple really. Artie and I have been forced into hiding here due to that maniac Sean McDonnell. He's threatened our lives on more then one occasion since the story broke and it seems that law enforcement of the highest levels doesn't think he is fucking around.

Artie - Dude figures himself to be some sorta James Bond villian or something.

Justin - Interesting. So you're claiming he has some bigger plans that involve his ITFL tournament?

Chuck - Well we can't be sure what his final endgame is, but he definitely surprised us with what he did with Christopher Bossman. That poor guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Justin - Yea what was he doing in the room if Sean was clearly bribing an atheletic commission member?

Chuck - We don't know the full story. I received a vague email from Chris right after the meeting from his Blackberry just saying he had some crazy info he had stumbled across on a routine trip to visit Mr. McDonnell, and he had attached that picture to the email.

Justin - So you have no idea what the "crazy info" could be?

Chuck - Nothing firm yet. The feds here seem to have some idea but they're not exactly forthcoming with any information. From what I can piece together it has something to do with the final event of the tournament though.

Justin - Hmmm. Well it's too bad we don't have all the pieces to the puzzle, otherwise this could be a huge story. Right now it's nothing but assumptions and smoke.

Artie - Yea. I just wish it wasn't fucking around my training. I have to fight some Lafka bum or something in a week or so and take a look around. This isn't exactly American Top Team around here.

Chuck - Lange has definitely suffered in his training that's for sure, but in the grand scheme of things that's a relatively small issue. We would like you to be our eyes and ears once you get out of here, and back to London. The feds here say they will be escorting us to the event so Lange won't miss his fight but we'd like to gather some more information prior to our arrival if we could.

Justin - So you're absolutely sure this has nothing to do with the fact Lange lost to one of Seans fighters in his last fight, right? This isn't some attempt at a smear campaign or anything like that? I mean you see how Steel Penns plans for his "hate" campaign have worked out so perfectly for him and his brand, but let's be honest no one around here is as clever as him.

Chuck - That's insulting. I would never do what you're insinuating. This is 100% a true and real threat to all participants in Mr. McDonnells tourney. I am very worried for the safety of everyone involved.

Artie - Yea. Mr. Grace never once told me nuffing about a smear campaign. Never.

Justin - Ok. Sure. So let's say I believe that. What next? How would you like me to proceed?

Chuck - Well. We'll need you to do some digging into Seans past and see what kind of dirt you can find. Dirt of any kind. The more damaging the better. If we can dig up enough maybe we'll be able to figure out just what he has planned for his final event.

Justin - That sounds like exactly the sort of request that would be made to start a smear compaign. I'm not sure I'm completely comfortable with what you're asking me. I mean I can ask some questions, and for sure do a little digging but outside of that I'm not going to go rooting through his trash or anything.

Chuck - Well. That's a good start I guess. I'm sure if you ask the right questions of the right people you'll start to realize that this is all just us trying to protect people and nothing more. Definitely in no way is this some kind of plan on our part to make Sean appear to be a cheater, or that he rigged the Beck/Lange fight. Sure those things are true, but this goes much deeper than just that.

Justin - Alright. Well I guess let's get me back to London and I'll see what people know and are willing to talk about. Mr. Bossman's murder has people pretty quiet these days. I haven't even heard much in the way of press leading up to this next event. JLP will be doing his usual previews but it seems even he has postponed doing them until the final minute.

Chuck - Ok. Well let's meet again when Lange and I land in London prior to the next round. We can go over what you have found between now and then. Expect someone to arrange a meeting through the same channels.

Justin - Ok. But I just have to say I'm going to be pissed if this turns out to be you just being a complete asshole and looking to fuck Sean over or something. I get the feeling you're not telling me everything.

Chuck - Well I guess we'll see how this all plays out then, won't we?

Justin - Yes I guess so.

And with that I am led back out of the building with my black bag. Back to the long SUV return trip to the plane. Back to London to try and figure out what the fuck is going on...

Donkeys vs Aces

The Donkey's are looking to bounce back after a close loss last week. The Aces are feeling pretty fucking tough after they steamrolled Hell's Balls.

Nick Fury vs Dan Smith: Dan Smith is the chosen one this week. Fury's manager LT has used his considerable influence to call out the heavy handed slugger. Fury is the more skilled fighter and should take this as long as he keeps from getting clipped by the ham-handed Smith. Fury by decision.

Dryden Mitchell vs Rage Blade: Two veteran strikers face off in this battle. Both fighters are 1-1 in ITFL competition. Very little separates these two, Blade has more power and Mitchell is far more durable. Interesting fight and very hard to pick, I'm going with Blade in a slight upset.

Pete Wentz vs Jeremy Voda: Jeremy Voda has really made a name for himself in the early portion of the contest. He has come out of nowhere to become the leader of the young Aces squad. This round he is tangling with Pete Wentz, a veteran grappler and dangerous character in his own right. I doubt very much this fight will be standing for long, Wentz does have a slight edge when it is though. Voda is the bigger man, so if he can stay on top he may be able to grind Wentz down enough to take the decision.

Richard Lightfoot vs IP Daily: Lightfoot, along with Fury, has really impressed so far in the ITFL. This round he takes on former pro boxer IP Daily. Daily has great hands and good power. However,Lightfoot is durable and skilled, I cant see where Daily has an advantage in this fight. I think clinch rape is going to happen and Daily will get stopped sometime in the second.

Tito Hopkins vs Andreas Rheinhardt: Rheinhardt has yet to claim an ITFL victory, Hopkins has come up even so far. Rheinhardt needs to get this fight to the ground as soon as possible, Hopkins will carve him up standing. Hopkins isn't known for his durability so Rheinhardt will always have some hope. I just cant see Rheinhardt surviving long enough to impose his will. Hopkins by KO.

Syndicate vs Misfits

The Misfits have been better at complaining and making wild and slanderous accusations then fighting at this point. They really need a victory over the division leading misfits here.

Latka Gravas vs Artie Lange: Leading the WAAAAAAAAAAAAA charge is Artie Lange and his manager CGrace. This week, the provolone fisted slugger runs into top-notch striker Latka Gravas. Gravas has yet to secure a victory in the ITFL so we know he will bring his A-game this week. Lange has far more power, but I think Gravas will be too skilled for the pudgy pugilist. Gravas by KO, probably late in the fight.

Sergei Skylar vs Constantine Barca: Skylar takes on Barca in a highly anticipated battle for grappling fans. Sergei, smallest man in the tourney, brings in some deadly G-n-P. Barca has a formidable sub game. I think we will see these two fighters spend a great deal of time in each other's danger zone. This is a really tough fight to pick, but Sklyar has been on a roll so he is my choice to win by decision.

Tweedle Dee vs Karl Thomas: Another grappler impressing the pundits has been Syndicate fighter Tweedle Dee. Thomas is a top Muay Thai fighter known for his deadly clinch game. If Thomas can keep it standing he can give Dee loads of trouble. I think Dee has enough striking game and a solid enough chin to stay alive long enough to get the fight to the ground. Dee should win by decision through top control and ground strikes.

Toby Diaby v Dakota Royer: Grappler vs Striker here again as Diaby takes on Royer. Royer had a nice win over Sato last week and is looking to keep the momentum going. Diaby hasn't fared as well and has sunk into a depression. Diaby really needs to get this fight to the ground quickly to get his confidence back and put a little hurt on the veteran. Royer seems pretty keyed in lately, so I am predicting he wins by KO.

Dan Leighty v Jax Teller: Leighty and Teller both racked up wins last round, Leighty has yet to lose a fight in the ITFL. Both of these fighters are quality strikers, Leighty has the slight skill edge here. This fight is my pick for fight of the night. Both these guys are proven finishers, but Teller doesn't have the durability shown by Leighty, I'm going with the Cowboy here by KO.

Hell's Balls vs Reaper Wombat Wear

First place Reaper, led by the brilliant and handsome JLP, defends their top ranking against the so far hapless but defiant HB squad.

Damato vs Slayer: Dragon Slayer impressed last week despite being KO'ed by Nick Fury. Many pundits were shocked to see the outgunned Slayer last into the third round against the skilled veteran. This week Slayer takes on the legendary Pete Damato. Damato hasn't had much fun in ITFL so far, losing his first two fights. Damato needs to use his veteran savvy and bonecrushing power if he is to take the win here. It will be interesting to see how the youngster handles the pressure. Slayer by decision.

Ballantyne vs Bubby: Boy Bubby has really made a name for himself so far in the tourney. He beat two far more experienced fighters and showed great heart in coming back to stop Tito Hopkins after being put in danger by the esteemed veteran. Ballantyne has yet to taste sweet ITFL victory but he has a path to glory in this fight if he can keep it standing. Ballantyne's chininess and lack of power seem to be putting doubt in the minds of the gambling public. Bubby by KO.

Boon vs Billingham: Bam Boon is another HB fighter looking for his first win, looks like his losing ways haves spiraled into depression and a nasty twinkie and milkshake binge. Boon may be unable to make weight as he battles his chronic overeating. Management has stepped in and laid down the law to the MT fighter, so hopefully he gets back on track. If the fight does happen I like Billingham by KO over Boon.

Roman vs Wise: Greco Roman makes his ITFL debut, subbing in for Kron Gracie. Kron needed to spend some time with his family. Roman has a tall task here, taking on Reapers #1 fighter in Dennis Wise. Roman does have a path to victory here, as he is the far more skilled ground fighter. If the fight gets ugly, Roman is probably winning it. I still think Wise by decision, but will be closer than many think.

James vs Esposito: Levi James, the inspirational leader of HB, pulled out a slick sub last week and got HB on the score board. Another tough fight here for the newcomer as he takes on the grizzled vet Frank Esposito. Espo is none too bright and has stumbled into subs before, but I dont think James is as talented on the ground as Voda, who subbed Espo in week one. I think this fight will be close but I see Espo winning by decision. James does look to have loads of potential at this point though.

Kaiser vs TFP TFP and Kaiser match-up in what looks like it will be a very close competition. Probably the most interesting team matchup we have this week. Both of these squads are trying to keep pace with Syndicate.

Deangelo Jeremetrius Vickers vs Jan Dudek: Interesting fight here as Dudek's big mouth manager has all but guaranteed a KO win here. The Filipino mafia is not amused. Vickers does have a suspect chin, but he also has crazy power and finishing ability. This should be an exciting fight and I wouldn't be surprised if someone left on a stretcher here. I think Dudek backs up his manager's gaping gob and comes through with a KO.

Victor Kafka vs Ogmundur Girsurrson: Kafka is looking to get off the schnide he has been on since coming to the ITFL. Girsurrson has fared better, going 1-1 in this tough competition. Kafka looks to have the slight advantage and quite frankly, the guy is due. Kafka by decision.

Katsuro Sato vs Edward Richtofen: Huge fight here, actually the one I am looking forward to the most. Striking wiz Richtofen gets his sternest ITFL test when he takes on BJJ black belt Sato. Sato is no dope so we know he will want to get this fight on the map post-haste. Can he do it before the ham hands of Richtofen take their toll? I think so. Once on the mat Richtofen will have no answer for the smooth styling of Sato, I see Sato grabbing the submission.

Luka Beck vs Kauno Kaalikarva: Another great matchup here. Both of these fighters are extremely well rounded. Kaalikarva seems to have the grappling edge, undoubtedly he will want this fight on the ground. All things being equal, I think this fight will come down to chin checking. Kaalikarva's chin has been checked and failed enough that I have a hard time seeing him withstanding Beck's striking assault. Beck by KO.

Geralt of Ravia vs Karl Denke: In something we haven't seen much of so far in ITFL, the two top fighters from a team are matching up here. Denke is looking to bounce back after losing a decision to Dee last week. Ravia has taken both his ITFL appearances by decision. Denke has a decent grappling advantage but Ravia has proven that he is not afraid to have the fight hit the ground. Really tough fight to call here but I am going with Denke by decision.

Pete Wentz has issued a public apology. He entered the cage just after he witnessed notorious pillowfister Dryden Mitchell bitch slap Blade to sleep.

Mitchell cracks Blade with an open hand slap.

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/rocked2.gif

This led to him being in utter shock he completely forgot he was fighting.

"I was in utter shock. For Mitchell to finish anyone is pretty mind blowing but for him to bitch slap the dude. I couldn't believe my eyes. Then the bell rung i got taken down the dude locked in a kimura and i went oh shit i am meant to be fighting but by then it was to late. I want to apologize to the Donkeys for ruining another clean sweep and the fans for the utter shitty performance i turned in"

In other news top LHW Danza Kuduro was caught looking leaner and lighter on his feet when reporters took a snap of him at the beach. Fans speculate that he might be taking the place of someone in the Donkeys. Some just think he lost weight doing his new work out dvd that hit the shelfs earlier this week called Put your hands up and dance to Kuduro. Either way it could be interesting to see.
