Today we have a great event lined up with a title fight that many have been waiting to see.  The Great White North has been nothing short of spectacular and will be defending his 185 belt (yes, I have to specify since he has two!) against Adam East to headline this event.  This fight has also been nick named the SMESH FEST as both fighters are from the same alliance.  Now, let’s go ahead and jump into the action!

Prelims

Francis OMalley (2-3)  vs  Paul Mills (2-3)

Outlaw - OMally comes into the fight low on morale and for that alone I’m not even going to discuss him.  Mills is ready to go and will be putting his striking up against the other guys wrestling.  With the lack of morale, I don’t see that wrestling doing much good and I think a few good pops on the jaw will break the down heartened OMalley.

Sonny Says: Likewise. Enjoy the free win, Mills. I hope you don’t need to sterilize the funk off your knuckles after the fight.

Outlaw’s Pick – Mills wins via TKO

Sonny’s Pick - Smith KO round 1

Kyle Garcia (3-2)  vs  Apollo Rocky (1-1)

Outlaw - Garcia is a one of those guys who we’re still trying to gage.  He has been around since before Bellicose was Bellicose, but only has 4 fights within the org, and 3 of them under former management.  Now, under new management, he lost his debut against Koning via submission, but that’s not entirely unexpected as BJJ is his lone weak spot.  Outside of that, Garcia boasts some impressive boxing and MT skills and even his wrestling is exceptional.  All three of his wins are from TKO so he’s got a little power behind those punches and I’m really curious to see if he starts mixing in more kicks now that he’s not facing a grappler.

Rocky is going to need to be on his game in this one.  He’s got some great boxing skills and that’s his go-to, but outside of that he lacks the skills to keep up with Garcia.  Now, everyone knows that a boxer has a striker’s chance, so we can’t rule him out, but this will be an uphill fight for Rocky.

Sonny Says: I agree with you Outlaw, Rocky’s specialty is just not special enough in this fight. Garcia is the real deal, IMO, and sometimes you just must place fighters with the right management team and watch the magic happen from there.

Outlaw’s Pick – Garcia via TKO

Sonny’s Pick - I think Garcia will grind out a decision victory on his way to his run up the rankings.

Charles E Boles (4-1)  vs  Bartholomew Slice (3-1)

Outlaw - This should be an excellent fight.  Both fighters are very evenly matched with the same build and style.  Both guys focus on Muay Thai and Wrestling and have started shaping up their boxing as well.  Boles holds the very slight edge in MT and Wrestling, but only by the smallest of margins.  And that doesn’t speak to the secondary skills these guys have.  Two of our younger guys who highlight our prospects, I can’t wait to see the results of this fight.  And it has nothing to do with Boles being one of my own!  Because of that, however, I won’t go into any detail and let Sonny pick up my slack.

Sonny Slack Picker Upper Says: I see why I’m getting the pressure here, this is a complete random pick ‘em! Boles had popped 2 skills since the fight was signed but other than that these guys come in looking like mirrors of each other in the gym. Because my instinct is usually to stir the pot I will oblige the devil and pick Slice to grab the 2nd round KO. He had everything to prove in this fight and will probably take at least 1 round to crash Boles’ granite chin.

Outlaw’s Pick – Boles via KO

Sonny Pick - Slice round 2 TKO

Keenwah Grains (3-1)  vs  Jeno Christ (4-2)

Outlaw - Graines is coming in after his first loss and looking to bounce back.  He’s a solid fighter with strong striking skills, but his bread and butter is on the ground.  He’s a superb wrestler with a brown belt in BJJ and he makes no excuses as to how he wants to finish a fight as all three of his wins have come via submission.  He’s facing a striker tonight, so he knows that getting the fight to the ground as soon as possible is his best chance at winning.  I’m not sure if he will have something special to wear out to the cage, but I sure hope it’s not the toilet paper top he’s been spotted in of late.  Then again, maybe this is all part of his game to get into the head of his opponent?

Christ as I mentioned is a striker.  He’s not the boxer that Graines is, but he’s a damned good Muay Thai fighter with superb wrestling which ideally gives him a nice edge in the clinch.  To date, he hasn’t used the clinch much so that may not even be a focal point of his training or game  plan, but it’s definitely an option.  He may want to avoid the clinch as his opponent could pull guard with his BJJ skills.  Christ definably has the edge from range if he mixes up his strikes and keeps Graines at bay.  I would say mix in some kicks but those are easily countered by takedowns.  Chris has to be careful in this fight as it’s really not a great match up for him by means of skills.  But, he definitely has the ability to score a KO here with that power he’s displayed.  For Christ, it’s just a matter of keeping the fight off the ground.  If he can do that, I think he’ll eventually get to the chin of Graines.

Sonny Says: as much as I instinctively want to argue with Outlaw I think he has this fight nailed. Graines may come in looking a little too reliant on his takedowns which definitely can leave his chin open. To implement some science on that, Christ has proven and measured KO power and Graines does not lean on a granite chin. It will only take 1 shot.

Outlaw’s Pick – I think Chris looks to counter the takedown with some power and gets a KO victory here.

Sonny’s Pick - Christ KO round 1

Marek Cervenka (5-6)  vs  Jeryl Christ (5-3)

Outlaw - Cervenka is coming off back-to-back losses.  It seems to be a patter in his career.  He has lost 6 fights, in sets of two.  Then, he’s turned around and won two.  It’s a very interesting patter.  He’s been in Bellicose from day one and we’ve watched firsthand this pattern.  He’s a pretty balanced fighter with some decent striking as is evidence by his 5 TKO victories.  He’s sitting at about 90% morale which could be worse, but also could be better.  If not for this, I’d have no hesitation about calling him the favorite to win the fight based on the patter alone.

Across from him is another Christ brother, his opponent.  Christ is a carbon copy of his brother who fights in the previous fight to this one with a focus on Muay Thai and Wrestling.  But also, Jeryl has not shown much willingness to go into the clinch either and has preferred to stay at range.  This would benefit him as it would negate the only possible advantage that Cervenka has in this fight.

Sonny - These Christ clones are starting to confuse me! This one is named Jeryl so we’ll stick with that. Jeryl is a well-paced project who is looking to add a W on his record tonight. Cervenka is definitely looking for the takedown to flex his GnP which is the only skill set he had that is unique from Christ. I think Jeryl is more competitive in the clinch that his fight history suggests and if nothing else he will be able to use his skills to avoid the cage of that is his intention. Btw, Cervenka cuts easily. Just saying...

Outlaw’s Pick – Christ wins via TKO

Sonny’s Pick - Christ via TKO (cut) round 2; Second coming of Christ!

Titus Wilder (5-3-1)  vs  Macka Briggs (6-4)

Outlaw - Wilder has been… well, wild since joining Bellicose.  He’s now 3-0 under the Bellicose brand and looking to keep his foot on the gas.  With a strong boxing and wrestling game and an even more impressive Muay Thai background, he’s looking to finish this fight with some thunder.  His last bout did end in a decision win, but he prefers to finish the fight early and no doubt that’s the gameplan tonight.

His opponent, Briggs, is riding a two-fight win streak as well.  This guy has sensational boxing and exceptional wrestling skills while only being competent in Muay Thai and having no desire to play man hugging on the ground in BJJ at all.  His gameplan is pretty simple... he’s going to box you and try to knock your ass out.  He’ll use his wrestling to defend against the takedown and attempt to control the clinch enough to break free, but he wants to do one thing, and that’s box.  With his natural KO power, that’s not a bad thing to do.  This fight will stay standing as both guys will be looking for the KO, it’s just a matter of who gets to who’s chin first.

Sonny Says: I will skip being a stats nerd for this fight because Outlaw is right in that both these guys are going for the KO. This will be a beautiful bloody work of art no matter who comes out on top. Wilder is slightly out skilled, but his manager should set the appropriate game plan to use his strong chin to see him through.

Outlaw’s Pick – Wilder via TKO.  Briggs may have the better boxing and stronger KO power, but Wilder also has the better chin which means it’ll balance that out. I don’t’ see this going the distance as both guys prefer to finish, so I give the slight edge to Wilder to get the finish.

Sonny’s Pick - Wilder via KO round 1

Main Card

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Caio Carvalho          VS          Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Clay Mann

Caio Carvalho (6-1)  vs  Clay Mann (7-1)

Outlaw - What a 380k battle this will be!  These guys are some of our top prospects and they have managed to break onto the main card of one of the Bellicose big boy cards.  Very impressive as these guys are the ones to usually headline a prospect card.  A combined record of 13-2 between them, we’re sure to see a great fight to kick off the main card tonight.

Caio was the first every Outlaw MC champion and still holds that belt today as the org is holding on for a little longer to wrap up some loose ends.  Caio lost his Bellicose debut against Albert Sojka via KO, and will no doubt be doubling down and looking to prove himself against Mann tonight.  With wonderful wrestling and a brown belt in BJJ, Carvalho is a dominating force on the ground and a true next generation contender for the Bellicose welterweight belt.  As much talent as this man possesses, his opponent will not be an easy task.

Mann was a bit older when he first stepped into the cage but has been equally impressive.  He has no desire to stay on his feet and strike and has put very little effort into even learning the basics of these skills.  His wrestling has been his bread and butter and while he does have 4 submission wins under his belt, he uses that wrestling more than his BJJ purple belt.  Mann has a 7-1 record with some impressive wins under his belt.  His only loss to date was the QFC tournament finale that he lost to Schwerinn.  Fortunately for him, he was able to avenge that loss in his first Outlaw fight and hasn’t looked back since.  He won his Bellicose debut against Graines at Bellicose 96 and is riding that mile high confidence coming into this fight.

Sonny Says: first off, it had to be said that Mann is the fucking man for accepting this fight. He carries zero advantages skill wise going in but will rely on what he is always relied on - great determination and abusive levels of testosterone to finish this fight. His 7-1 record is no illusion. He is rarely the favorite to win and yet he keeps pulling the W’s out of his Manus.

Carvalho it is the absolute real deal though and will offer pressure all night as he continues his dominant ways in the cage. Former Outlaw FC Champ. Say less. He was welcomed to Bellicose with his sole KO on his record his last time out but you know how that can light a fire under an ass. His only downfall could be a tentative game plan where he simple gets caught sleeping and gets out to sleep.

Outlaw’s Pick – Carvalho does everything Mann does, only better.  I think he uses his BJJ skills to force a quick submission victory over Mann.

Sonny’s Pick - Carvalho via hard earned Decision

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Raja Khanna          VS          Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - John Brown

Raja Khanna (8-4)  vs  John Brown (7-3)

Outlaw - Our second fight on this main card is sure to be a great fight!  These guys are pretty damned even in skills and both have very similar fighting styles.  Khanna is an accomplished striker but is a machine on the ground with his sensational wrestling and brown belt.  But what’s truly amazing is that he prefers to stand and bang.  His wins have come from his ability to win on the feet and not his skills on the ground which are even better!  Now, perhaps he’s just a supremely defensive fighter on the ground and refuses to go down that path, but he may have to in this fight.

Across from him is Brown who, is also a remarkable striker but a wonderful wrestler with a brown belt.  He’s not looking to stay on his feet as he gets his wins via the ground game.  With 6 submissions under his belt, there’s no doubt his ground skills are of the offensive nature.  He lost his last bout against Briggs via KO, and earlier on in his career against Jake Paul via TKO, so his chin has been tested a few times.  One thing I can say about this fight for sure is that he will want to get Khanna on the ground quickly to protect that chin while Khanna may be comfortable on the ground defending anything Brown may throw his way.  But I can’t say the same for Brown being comfortable on his feet with Khanna throwing bombs.  If a few good shots connect, this could be all over.

Sonny Says - I have so thoroughly thought through this fight that I am now confused again. Khanna loves the clinch but is way too tall to clinch the midget Brown. Brown loves his brown belt and only really realizes in his ground game but so far Khanna has shown an absolutely brilliantly stifling ground game defense - when he actually gets taken down which is quite rare.

So back to basics. This fight starts on the feet and brown hast to earn to take down. As obvious as that is with this closely made matchup I think Manager Alfredo will manage to keep Khanna on his feet for long enough to earn the decision victory by heavy slapping.

Outlaw’s Pick – Due to the fact that Khanna can defend the ground better than Brown can defend from range, I lean slightly towards Khanna to win via TKO by getting to Browns chin.

Sonny’s Pick – Khanna via decision

Co-Main Event

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Albert Sojka          VS          Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Fedor Vovchanchyn

Albert Sojka (7-4)  vs  Fedor Vovchanchyn (2-1)

Outlaw - Our Co-Main event this evening is Sojka vs Fedor.  I’m not saying that last name over and over again, so he’ll simply be known as Fedor!  Albert is a remarkable boxer with strong Muay Thai and Wrestling skills.  He’s got 3 FotN and 1 KotN award under his belt already which is quite impressive.  He’s on a two fight win streak with his last victory coming over Carvalho via KO, handing Carvalho his first defeat to date.  The was a bit of a skill gap there but many favored Carvalho’s ground game against Albert’s striking.  Albert never gave him a chance to get on the ground.  In this fight, that won’t be an issue as neither fighter will be looking for the ground game.

Fedor is coming off a loss to Skolz and is looking to bounce back tonight.  He doesn’t have much cage experience as he’s only got 3 MMA bouts under his belt and none of them made it out of the first round.  Literally less than 3 minutes of experience inside a cage.  He may come out looking to hit a home run in this one, but I don’t think Albert will go down that fast.  Fedor does have a solid advantage from range in this fight where he’s got a slight edge in boxing and significant edge in Muay Thai over Albert.  Albert will have to live up to his name and use intelligence to strategically gain points and pick his shots to get the win here.

Sonny Says: Do not sleep on Albert Sojka! This man pulls knockouts out of nowhere like a goddamn magician. He is one of the most pure primal fighters on the Bellicose roster and the fans have time and time again shown their wild support for this manimal.

Across from him will be Fedor Vovchanchyn who is a whole beast in himself. Fedor also shown wild KO ability with his hands and has been knocked out as his only loss on record.

All logical parts of me want to pick Fedor. But as you know I am brace the non-logical part of fighting often more than I should and invite the magic to happen one more time in this fight! Albert has no right to win this fight and that’s why I’m picking him. He will not be content to hide behind stat advantages as he has none. This is a kill or be killed fight for him and I would like to think he will make the first move.

Outlaw’s Pick – Fedor wins via TKO

Sonny’s Pick - Albert Sojka by (underdog) KO round 1

Main Event

 Middleweight Title Fight

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Tim Horton          20220519214030bellicose_clover.png          Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Adam East

Tim Horton (10-1)  vs  Adam East (7-2)

Outlaw - Welcome to the MAIN EVENT!  The reigning undisputed middleweight and welterweight champion of the world, the Great White North, Tim Horton will be putting his belt on the line against former alliance mate and friend, Adam East in an event taking on form as the SMESH FEST where these two will square off in an official SMESHOFF!

Tim Horton has been a man on a mission, and he’s been very vocal about his skills.  What’s great is unlike many who boast about their skills, Tim has backed up every inch of it!  He earned his shot at the 185 belt by walking through the best the division had to offer and won that belt from Sawamura which ultimately lead to a break in Sawamura and his manager.  He then was called out by then champion Rock Romero and gladly accepted the challenge to move to 170 and face the champion.  Unfortunately for Rock, he lost his belt to Odimabesser leaving Horton in a position to accept the challenge against Odimabesser for the 170 belt or face Rock who just lost.  Naturally, The Great White North wanted to face the best and took the fight against the new champion.  The rest is history!  He defeated Odimabesser via TKO in the 4th round and became the first ever bellicose two division champion!  Now, he turns his attention back to the 185 division where he’ll be defending his belt against friendly foe, Adam East.

East has been on quite a pat to the top himself as well.  After an inexplicable loss to Jake Paul back in January, he’s reeled off three strait wins, the last of which over rising star Buster Glover to set himself up as the top contender of the division.  East has been homing in on his boxing skills and put them to the test in what was one of the best fights of the year against Glover in his last fight.  Those two beat the holy hell out of each other and neither one could finish the other off.  Just goes to show the heart and power both men possess.  Now, East gets to take the next step and see if he can topple the giant from the top of the mountain to claim his own thrown way up north.  His elite boxing will be his strongest asset in this one as that is the one area that Tim can’t match.  But everywhere else the champ has the advantage so East will need to keep this fight out of the clinch and try to bob and weave, float like a butterfly and sting like a sting ray swimming with Steve Erwin.  Horton has some amazing heart and has flashed some nice power, but his chin has only truly been tested once when he lost to Dean Howard who to this day has avoided the cage.  I guess once you accomplish the height of your career, it’s time to walk away and hide from expectation.   So, this SMESH OFF will be a hell of a brawl that will be talked about and bragged about for many weeks or even months to come not only on the Bellicose forums, but in their own private communications amongst alliance as well.

Sonny - I have to say I am dorking out for this fight like a teenager in a porn shop!

Two men of legendary status already in their careers. Champ Champ Horton dropping his 20 pound balls on the table to put a shiny strap on the line against an opponent he knows all too well. Adam East has quite possibly the sexiest hands in Bellicose with his Olympic boxing experience.

Both men go after KOs every fight and this will be no different. If you dig too deep into the stats this fight is another brain fuck. Horton is more proficient in the clinch but is the much taller fighter here. East loves to knockout his opponents from range but he is obviously giving up the usually reach advantage required to take full advantage of that game plan here.

... Smoke Break...

Well I’m back, more high, and even less sure on the outcome of this fight. I’ll ride this wave of pure raw appreciation and anticipation for the main event and that’s a great feel too.

Fine print: the lawyers say I technically have to make a pick so here goes...

Outlaw’s Pick – This one is tough as East will definitely have a shot to pull off the upset KO victory if he can get to Horton’s chin.  But as I do 99% of the time, I’m riding with the proven champ and think Horton defends his belt with a TKO victory in the later rounds of this fight.  And still!!!!!

Sonny’s Pick - Horton via TKO round 2

I also wanted to shout out a creation tournament in the works for anyone who might be interested.  You're more than welcome to come join Bellicose after you win it!  lol  Not sure the details or restrictions, etc.. but you can find all that info below.  I believe this is hosted by Blue Wave MMA, but a good chance to go compete and win some prizes if you are looking to roll a new fighter soon!

135 Creation Tournament

Ikki Takeda: Thanks for my tournament shout out brother. Gentlemen and a scholar sir.

Tim Horton (11-1): “Just as I said, it wouldn’t be enough. Much respect to the man for taking that much abuse for 4 rounds straight… What a heart that guy has, but my power and technical skill is on another level then these Bellicose guys. I dominated every round and it was a hell of a fight, there were many points in that right where I hit him with my best shots and he kept coming forward… You’re welcome for winning all you folks lots of money! Rock Romero, win your next matchup so I can fight your ugly ass. I wanna paint the city of New York red with your face. Back to the gym and Canada I go, no stopping #TheGreatWhiteNorth. 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Ok guys, since we have a nice little turn out on the forums, Sonny and I would like to try something different.  I am going to nominate 2 - 3 fights or fighters per category and allow you guys to vote on the winner of each.  No fighter can win two awards, so vote wisely.  I will like to start doing this consistently if we do not see alliance bias voting where an alliance all votes for their own alliance mates to win awards.  If that's the case, we will stop doing this and ban that alliance from winning awards for a short period of time.

First up, Sub of the Night:

Paul Mills - 4

Caio Carvalho  - 1

Second up, KO of the Night:  (this one had so many good options)

Tim Horton

Raja Khanna - 5

Fedor Vovchanchyn

Jeno Christ

Charles Boles

And Lastly, Fight of the Night:

Horton vs East - 4

Garcia vs Rocky - 1

Remember, everyone can vote once for each category.  If the vote for KotN is for Tim Horton and FotN is for Horton vs East, then the FotN will be awarded to Horton vs East and the KotN will go to the runner up in votes.  This isn't always going to be the case, but we want to spread the love and with the Horton vs East being an in alliance fight and there being so many amazing choices for KotN, we want to separate those two awards.

Nice fellas, but how did Sonny do?  I'll take 7/10 just about every time, not half bad!

East is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Horton doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! East crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in East's bad books for that mishap!

Gotta say, this is great. Loving the effort on the previews and everything. Very cool to see the interaction on an orgs smack thread too.

Unfortunately I didn't see the betting thing until after but I'll be sure to keep a closer eye in future. I tend to jinx whoever I bet on though so probably better that I didn't this time.

It's pretty clear from the votes thus far and being as they trend along the same thoughts that I had, I'm going to go ahead and pass out awards now.  Thanks for your input.  I would like to do this more often if you guys would be willing.  I think having the managers vote just adds another element to the immersion.

Sliding in a few days late but coming in hot with the Bellicose Forum Warrior Award for the month of May!

Manager Bjorn O’Donnel had a tough last couple months. First he had to take on a bunch of fighters he didn’t want as his ranking tanked. Oh wait, it was the opposite...

Bjork seamlessly slid into the Bellicose groove of shit talk, slander, and general raucousness like an old pro as he picked up top tier fighters Keywon Reeves and Rak Boonliang. He not only held down the fighting end of things like a champ (literally) but Bjorn did a little bit of Bjorning and got the forums fired up with his new fighter’s perspectives. Loving it.

Great work to everyone on the forum! I can quite confidently say that Bellicose is the most entertaining and inspiring place to be in the game thanks to you guys. Mega props to all you forum warriors out there!

Thanks man, nice surprise!

I honestly love the way you guys run your org!

I'm not the one to applaud another man quickly, but your performance was impressive, congrats!

However, I have some bad news for you as well. My team mate Arax is climbing the ranks at 170lbs and is gunning for your head. You still have some time left to enjoy that belt, until Arax his day comes (and it will!).
